The service here was very slow. The cashier attendant didn't understand any English. She had a hard time taking our order. The meat was dry and bitter and no flavor in the food. We ordered a burrito and quesadilla

Mom and Pop easily missed. Reminds me of a home cooked meal. Service was great and the food was good. Ample seating and very clean. The menu is huge so I'll definitely return to try other meals.

Service Ambiance Nachos Empty restaurant which should have keyed me off not to try. When I walked in it appeared no one was working there and then two people who were hanging out around the building came in. Felt pressured to order quickly, but they were polite enough. Got nachos, figured that's safe. Chips were from a bag and mildly stale, "guacamole " was clearly squeezed from a bag, the bare minimum amount of cheese, scarce salsa and sour cream. As soon as I got my plate they went back outside again. I was literally the only person inside except for someone in the back washing dishes. It was strange. The salsa bar was ok. The salsas were all tasty but not spicy. The pico de gallo was dry and old.

    Where's the meat lol

I ordered a super burrito, half carnitas, half Al pastor. I paid nearly $20 for this burrito and it's mostly rice and beans, hardly no meat, and definitely not the meat I ordered, it was birria, like what the absolute ef. This place use to be the spot back in the day but it's not it anymore!

Stopped here as l&l was closed for their lunch, we decided to try this place and honestly im glad we did! It was really good! Got the nachos and shared them bcs it was a big plate! But 10/10! Their tacos were really good and their salas were super spicy which I absolutely loved, other places they are usually watered down or not spicy at all. Will definitely come back next time we're here!

Decent guacamole and chips (on the spicy side) and the horchata was just okay but they have very good sevice. My coworkers got the burritos and said aveeage 3 stars. My thoughts were the guacamole needs more seasoning and less lime. The flan isn't that great, and the horchata is too sweet. They have outdoor seating and quick service.

    Not much on tap......

Came here for beers since our regular place closed down. Very nice cozy spot. Not a big beer selection though. Was pretty empty at the time with only a few people. Saw the food that was brought out and it looked really good. Already had plans to eat down the street. Big plus that they have a help yourself salsa bar. Will probably be back for drinks again or maybe a burrito.

Four solid tacos, recommend the carne asada, lengua and chorizo

Walked up around 6pm on a Friday and couldn't have planned our timing better. This place filled up within a half hour! We were able to sit outdoors with our dog and enjoy a warm, albeit windy San Mateo evening. The service here is great! Everyone was really friendly/patient/helpful and seemed to genuinely help one another out sharing the work of service/cleaning. The staff was attentive and thoughtful and checked up on us several times. The chips/salsa at Sinaloense are dangerous. Chips are sturdy and fresh without being too thick or oily. A perfect salsa delivery vehicle. The salsa had a great subtle smokiness (I thought) that was addictive. So much so that we fell into the typical trap of filling up on chips/salsa before the main event. No regrets. We ordered the fajita quesadilla and the chipotle shrimp plate. I really appreciate how generous their steak portions are and how perfectly the steak was grilled: thick, tender (cut against the grain), nicely charred, with great flavor. As for the shrimp, the chipotle sauce was delicious and creamy. Hard to explain but almost a cross between an Alfredo, chipotle and curry that we couldn't get enough of. Wiped the plate clean! We don't normally order dessert at restaurants but we gave into temptation and made an exception for churros. Great idea. Possibly one of the best churros I've had in the area. They pair the generous churro serving with ice cream and chocolate sauce that complements the fresh fried sweet dough perfectly. Don't sleep on this place!

I'm an al pastor burrito guy and this one was way too heavy on the spice/seasoning and kinda overpowered everything. Also there was barely any trace of tater tots which I was really looking forward to. My daughters ate the asada and said it was just ok. One thing is that the burritos are smaller than your super at El Farolito but they do pack it in there and it's pretty filling! The birria was actually pretty good and they gave a couple different sauces and cabbage and I would recommend it. I was also looking forward to eating the churro donuts on the drive back home because I thought they would be hot n good but that wasn't the case. They musta pulled them out from under a warming lamp because they were barely lukewarm to cold so that was a fail. Overall, it's not bad, but definitely pricier than most of the other popular Mex spots and now that I think about it, I probably won't go back because of it. There's plenty good Mex around for a lot less $$. I coulda gotten 3 super burritos from Farolito for $35 vs ~$75 that I paid at Suavecito.

When you walk in, you place your order directly with the cashier. If dining in, they will provide you with a basket of chips and you choose from an open table. The booths are a bit cramped with no space at all between yourself and the table but comfortable enough otherwise. There is a self service salsa bar in the corner - we really liked the creamy green salsa. Had just a slight kick but my 3 and 5 year old both loved it. I got a taco salad which is served in a taco bowl with all the ingredients of a super burrito, minus rice and cheese. It was very good, but the bottom of the shell gets really soggy so you can really just eat the top of the shell where it's still crispy. The rest of the family got super burritos and were very happy - the meat was crispy in some parts and moist/soft in other parts and the ratio of the other ingredients were perfect to complement the protein. Everyone left full and happy. Don't forget to get a sweet, cool, refreshing horchata drink to help wash down your meal!
