You saw the roach picture. I saw the roach picture. Yet, here I am writing this anyway. It wasn't my first, second, or third choice. But my supervisors' associate countered our dinner recommendation with her own. This restaurant went by a different name years ago and had 5 stars (by 2 people). So, you can imagine her associates' shock to see this restaurant sign in it's place. Out of politeness, we left our lives up to fate. The service was just O.K. there was a buzzer at the table for either a server or the check which was cool. We were given bottomless fresh chips and salsa. They have some of the spiciest salsa I've had in a while. My supervisor and I hesitated to order, but with a leap of faith were pleasantly surprised with a fresh, decent tasting meal. This was on par with most Mexican restaurants. Not the best ever, but really good. We tried the molé and asada tacos and really enjoyed it. We waited about 40-45mim to get our food, and there was not many people. About 2 tables after us. First we ordered some nachos so we can munch of them as a family while the food was prepared, the nachos were brought with the food 40-45 min later. Which was annoying because at that point we were only going to eat our food. Ordered a Drink and it was pretty disgusting. It was bitter and too strong, i asked for it be changed and they decline Because i had " already " drank some of it, which in fact i only tried it. I had to finish it even though it tasted like shit because they were charging me for it regardless. Finally when it came down to the food, i ordered a tostada and i had mentioned NO onions and tomatoes and they failed to not put those ingredients in the food. That there just made me not freaking hungry at all. I can not stand the smell of onions and i ASKED FOR THEM NOT TO BE IN MY FOOD, but they forgot i guess. Servers didn't check in as much, we had to call them over just to get a refill on water. To top it off when we got the bill, there was extra charges for meat choice which when i ordered she did not mention it would be extra. Second my tostada was $15 and some change on the menu and it ended up being $18.99 on the bill, i spoke to a manager and he said there was a sign on the door stating that the Menu price were changing, I don't remember seeing that sign and if it's there it's not big enough. we paid $75 for water, a nasty ass Margarita and 2 meals. NOT WORTH MY 75$ for sure. My whole party had issues with their tabs. I personally will not be back, we were a party of 10 and 6/10 people did not enjoy their food. read more

Stop by here to specifically get posole, worst posole I've ever had. Not enough liquid to even call it a soup, the hominy was very soggy and the taste was horrible Not enough seasoning at all. My BF got fajitas the meat was cooked OK, server forgot tortillas and before we could remind her the food got cold. I went to this restaurant this last Friday for the first time. My best friend recommended it, everything was great. Friendly staff. Good food...until i looked down and saw a roach in our chips!!! showed our chips with the roach in it to our server. She then took them to the back and just looked at it and we watched her as she had a panic look on her face! She didnt come back for about 30 mins and when she did she gave us our bill and told us have a great night! They didnt comp us or even say sorry! Well first off, i got dragged here for my wife's 21st birthday. The server greeted us with a nice smile. We ordered drink and the bartender made really good drinks for our party of 10. I ordered Horchata and as a respectable Mexican, they must deliver on the Mexican favorite drink and they failed here really miserably. There was not enough cinnamon and the consistency of the drink seemed really watered down. Do not order their Horchata. The salsa bar and salsa and chips in general was some of the best I've had in the Tri cities. I ordered the :::Pollo Poblano::: which came with a side of rice and retried beans. The quality of the rice was subpar, seems like they cooked it and stick it in a hot well to hold the temps of the rice. Refried beans was really good and mixed well the the Mole sauce that was lathered over my overcooked chicken. It was very unfortunate that the chicken was over cooked and extremely tough to even cut thru the chicken breast. The rest of the plate was presented real nicely. This place is tucked in behind New York Richie's and in my humble opinion, I think this place suit your average drunks that have no care on quality of their food. It's a shame since they did some things right and failed something's to the extreme. Never recommend ordering from here if you order through door dash or Uber eats. I am an Uber eats driver and sat there for 30 minutes before they even came to the register, and then told me that if they are busy they ignore any mobile orders and let them sit there until they cancel it. They told me to cancel the order as it would be at least another 45 minute wait. Great place to have lunch or dinner. Awesome salsa bar as well. You also have to try their micheladas with shrimp they are the best micheladas EVER!! On Fridays and as well as Saturdays I believe, at around 9 or 10 pm they have karaoke and this place gets LIT! They play a variety of Latin music. Cumbia, salsa, merengue, bachata the list goes on. Finally, we found a Mexican restaurant that has great food and great service. We both ordered off the side menu for lunch, good food at reasonable prices. Our waitress was very good, we got excellent service and our drinks were refilled. As we waited for our meal, we were invited to their salsa bar, were we were served fresh made tacos, with our choice of salsa. The interior could use a "do over", the place was dark (several lights either burned out or not turned on over some of the booths), but in the end, I would rather eat a good meal here in the dark, than a mediocre meal elsewhere. He is hispanic, and I know how to cook most dishes at home but we still come here when we wanna go out for Mexican because it is that good! The salsa bar is awesome! Outstanding staff, very good drink and a menu that will have something for everyone. Owners apparently are from a coastal town in Mexico, and consequently have an extensive seafood section of the menu. This is one of my favorite places to eat up some mexican food. They have a salsa bar, and a fully stocked bar. We have gotten the Placita Plater is very good. But the usual for me is the Camerones A LA Diabla. it's so yummy. They also make their own corn and flour tortillas there. The waitresses are great with my kids and they always make sure that we have plenty of chips, and our drinks are always topped off. My wife and I were traveling through the area, and were looking for a good Mexican joint. The reviews of this place were mixed, so we were a little concerned. However, we were starving, so we decided to give it a shot. We were there at 7:30 on a Saturday night, and we were literally the only ones in the restaurant. I don't know why there are negative reviews, and I REALLY don't know why they were empty. The food was excellent, an the portions were huge! The service was average. It is definitely worth the stop. I travel through tricities 2 times a month for business and I have to say hands down this place has the best seafood soup I have ever eaten. The weird drinks I did order ended up to be $10 each!! Which I was not aware of or I would not have ordered even one. Food was soso but when I went to the salsa bar for more it had been put up for the night. I don't even think our waiter was actually a waiter because when we asked him to split the check he was confused and said he'd figure it out. When I asked for a to go container three times and still didn't get one had to go up and ask. La Placita is my wife and I's go to mexican spot. They know us down there cause I think we paid the light bill one year. We dont find ourselves going out for mexican quite as often as we used too ( more because of the waistline than anything else :) but every once in a while we get a craving. We have haunted this joint since it was Cinco de Mayo. It is located off clearwater next to New York Ritchies. They opened up a couple years ago and when they opened, we knew we had to try it. We were extremely pleased to have done so. Personally i rate my mexican restaurants based off their chili verde. Its my favorite flavor typically, but this time we were in the mood for something different and we saw an advertisement for a platter of Carne Asada and Camarones ala Diabla. The carna asada was great, however the Camarones ala diabla made me fall in love i think. Well it made my taste buds fall in love. I have never been a fan of mixing mexican with seafood but let me tell you. The flavor of this dish is amazing here. The prawns are not anything special. I would say they are most likely frozen, but that sauce they are mixed in is great. We have always split that meal ever since. I have tasted a couple other things off their menu. Usually snacking on the kids plates. The enchiladas that come in their combo meals are nothing special. Pretty ordinary really. And i am ashamed to say that i have not tried their chili verde, so i cant really compare with other places other than to say they serve my new favorite mexican dish. Over the last couple years they have remodled into a little nicer place. The bathrooms really need a makeover next in my opinion. They put a lot of money into a salsa bar in the dining area and a wet bar with a small dance floor on the other side. They have a really smooth guacamole salsa that is good and make fresh corn tortillas for patrons which is always a bonus. We have since tried that dish at a couple other places, but no one makes it like La Placita. We will continue to go their when we get the cravings. Nice place, nice music (better than most Mexican restaurants I've been too... the music is a more "elegant" style of Mexican music; not the traditional stuff you always hear. It was really lovely to listen to and added to the experience), salsa bar and great corn tortillas... The food is good but not great. Chicken. Mole nice (sweet), the Carnitas Burrito good but a little "dry". Service, unfortunately, is poor. Our waiter was nice but slow and not very talkative, no smile, no greeting. Had to keep asking for drink refills, chips, etc. I love hot salsa and was eager to try La Placita's version... Sadly, it tasted like they dumped a whole bottle of lime juice in it. It was so sour I could not continue to eat it. Still, despite the negatives, the place has potential and the food is ok. It's also very clean and the walls are nicely painted with murals. love this place!!! its WAY better than inca or azteca, which everyone goes to. i personally hate those places because i think the food has no flavor. but La Placita is the place to go!! The salsa bar is excellent, with about 5 different salsas, and warm corn tortillas... mmm. i reccommend the guacamole salsa, the tomatillo salsa and the cabbage mix. i usually just order combo plates and i like either chicken or shredded beef. they season their meat very well and the enchilada sauce is great. i also love the coleslaw they add on the plates. anyways im guessing the ground beef and pork are just as good as the chicken and shredded beef. i havent tried the fajitas, but i think thats what ill get next. always had fast and good service while there. also appreciate that they have the punch card. definitely go here over inca!!! yum! read more
