Don't come here too often but the bread and the food is super good the employees are also nice to us.

First time here, it's a nice large bakery that also offers food. I tried their cheese tamales and it was the weirdest tamale I've ever had. When I opened it it looked like chili Verde. Then, what I think was chesse was melted and spread out over the masa, it had an unpleasant texture and it tasted weird. The apple filled pastry/bread only had a miniscule teaspoon amount of apple filling and only on one half of the pastry. Not really pastry but dry... bread. I was really looking forward to eating the maraschino cherry on top of what they called 'like pineapple upside-down-cake" but got faked out with a blob of red glue like substance that didn't taste like anything. This was not cake just more dry bread, thicker then the last, terrible. Also ordered a pint of beans. It took forever to get the beans and a tamale. Great spot to grab and go or just sit down for a great meal. They have an expansive menu and this particular store was clean and had an outside patio. I ordered at the counter for a super carnitas burrito and it was chockful if meat and came with a spicy great sauce. Tip: get lots of napkins. My burrito was about $8.00. read more

I went there with high expectancies because their bread is good but the cake was definitely not freshly made . We also ordered savory items. We bought a carnitas super burrito, shrimp tacos, and tamales. Everything tasted so delicious. The rice in the super burrito was fresh and had a soft texture. A true and authentic one! You might ask yourself how different baked goods can be from one culture to the next? (psst! I know you wouldn't, but I foolishly did!) Well, over the years I have been surprised time after time, but just before we walked into La Plaza Bakery, I did ask myself the same exact question yet again! Let me tell you (me); If you are looking for an authentic Mexican/Central American bakery, this is one of the good ones. We walked in there because I was craving flan, but I ended up having a tres leches cake and a few other items over the span of the three days that we were in Soledad. Everything I tried was good, especially a coconut cake they had. I tell you, it was worth every extra calorie! I ended up having a few with coffee, with their cinnamon tea (Te de Canela) and just by itself and it passed all the tests! Anyway, I should add that La Plaza Bakery serves meals too. Something here needs to change. I wish I can write this directly to the manager... the workers are RUDE. I keep editing my yelp review because I keep giving this place a chance.... We need another bakery here that opens early or this bakery needs new workers.... My boyfriend called for an asada burrito they told him they didn't have asada. (He goes there ALMOST every morning for burritos after work) ... it didn't seem right to me because half their menu requires asada... so I called after he did and used my phone and they TOOK my order. I asked for an asada burrito with everything on it and the lady yelled SOUR CREAM AND AVOCADO!!!?? i said yes twice because that's what everything is... and she kept yelling at me SOUR CREAM AND AVOCADO???!!! and I heard her mumble under her breathe... I don't know why they personally choose to lie to him and take my order instead and not his, especially when he is a regular and has been providing this bakery with his support in purchasing burritos... it's 5:40am on nov.2.2021... so avoid the staff that works this shift... real bad here... it's a shame because I love the food, i wish the la plaza bakery in Salinas workers' worked here instead because they provide better service and are way nicer. Maybe they are prejudice toward my boyfriend looks white and doesn't know Spanish and they know him to frequently go there to a point they are another because they already know his name when he calls like yesterday the lady knew it was for him and said his name without him giving it to her (we thought this was a good thing) ... but why would they be tired of making his burritos and lie to him today that they ran out of asada but give me the same burrito right after he called ?? We came in here because we were starving and were hoping we could get something small and quick to go. Instead we waited 20 min and asked if it would be much longer. They told us the flautas take longer to make so we thought "well at least the food has to be fresh!" We waited another 20 min and then asked again but were told the food was still not ready. Shrimp burritos are becoming more skimped on shrimp, I feel like I pay for mainly rice and beans only about 3 shrimp came out in my burrito. Had to wait 25 min for a burrito and people would come and go with their food. Don't think I'll be ordering burritos from here again. Although the sweet bread is a different story.... This is mainly a review for the ladies who make the food. More working less talking and customers won't have to wait very long for their food. Placed an order and waited over 20 mins and needed to request a refund (and the simple burrito still had not been made). Others I had noticed also had been waiting for a while as well and were complaining about the wait. There were 3 ladies making food, but they talked too much to each other and would stare at the orders to decided which one should they do next for about a min and scramble them to see which one was easier I am guessing. Came here yesterday to get some dinner. My kids ordered a torta and I got a Chile rellanos. I have to say it is good and their rice and beans were good as well but I deeply disappointed that it does not come with a sauce like their greenfield location. This is the 3rd time I ordered it and thought it might have been a fluke because they've been busy or maybe they ran out. Especially since their sign shows it with sauce, but no such luck.
