I had the sour cream enchiladas and it was DELICIOUS! The homemade corn tortillas were covered with sauce, cheese, sour cream, and I added chicken. I had 2 different margaritas were not very good and they hardly give me a buzz. The inside of La Posta is beautiful, though! I gave it a 4 star rating, because of the margaritas.

Disappointing dining on this trip out to La Posta de Mesilla. I ordered the chimichanga plate and it was just awful! The flour tortilla was tough as leather and the shredded beef was a block of salt. My daughter's shrimp tacos wee extremely spicy. She had to have them returned and the replacement plate had no sauce. The service was very good, but I wish I thinks were better.

What better than eating at a historical building? Delicious food, exotic animals. This place has everything needed for a good time. Passed by Mesilla and definitely had to make a stop here for lunch. It's located in a historical 18th century stagecoach station and has all the charm. Once you walk in there are shops on either side before you reach the restaurant itself. Be sure to take a look at the jewelry store and the general store for chili goodies. Service is warm and prompt Love the complimentary chips and salsa that they brought out right away. Very efficient! I had the enchilada plate which was so delicious. Portions are HUGE. For 16 dollars this was both my lunch and dinner for the day which was a steal. Not to mention super delicious as well. Sauce is so tasty. The Mexican slaw was my second favorite item on the plate. Overall a great stop if you're in the area. Must visit!

This restaurant is super cute. Not much parking if it's busy but luckily it wasn't when we got there. The skinny margs were excellent but expensive. The chips are a bit greasy and my quesadillas were very greasy. All of it was tasty though. Waiter was excellent. A little steep on prices for what you get.

History stop! Go here if you want to see this remaining post/ change stop on the Butterfield Trail from the 1800s. It had since been turned into a restaurant/bar. It is well known, so make a reservation if you can. You will also find yourself waiting a bit at the front to be sat, at your table for your server, and for your food/drink to arrive so plan accordingly. This last visit, we sat in the bar and had a margarita. The jalapeño and cucumber margarita was accompanied by a rim of honey and crushed pecans. This was by far an amazing experience for my mouth! Great place, great history! Be sure to check it out when you're in historical Mesilla!

Great food, fast and friendly service. Portions matched pricing. Awesome history to this building, as well as the surrounding square and neighborhood. The square was decorated for Christmas.

The dining rooms were totally decked out for Christmas and looked gorgeous! Our waitress was very attentive. The margaritas were so yummy. The nachos were huge and could easily be shared as a dinner. Thankfully the chile rellenos were easy to eat with braces. The Cole slaw was unexpected and so delicious.

In the heart of little historic downtown square this is a beautiful resturant that is so big and great for groups and parties. Maxed out in beautiful Mexican decor, a jewlery store and a bird cages filled with parrots all inside. The staff was super friendly and inviting. The black barrel margarita was delicious, New Mexico IPA hit the spot. Chips and salsa were provided to the table and were ok, salsa was lacking a bit in flavor but acceptable. I order shrimp tacos the shrimp and drizzle was good but the tortilla was store bought, hard and flavorless, no slaw and the rice and beans were ok but rice was a little on the dry crunchy side. With all this being said, I still would visit again without hesitation probably just for drinks and ambience because it is so pretty and inviting. Parking right now is a bit tricky and at this time there is construction in the area.

Cam here for Saturday lunch, we brought our dog with us, and we got to sit on the lovely patio, our food was amazing the steak was to die for! Super soft and flavorful! Really enjoyed this place super quick service and the patio was the best place to relax. Lots of people came and checked on us, coming back here for the steak!

We were in town for the Bataan. We called once we had finished the event to make a reservation for our party of 3 for 6pm. We were greeted by Edd (the manager on duty) who sat us immediately. Our server was friendly and Edd went above and beyond to make sure that our experience was enjoyable, despite him having a rough week (which we learned while talking to him). He brought us an order of sopapillas to end our wonderful meal. The food was fresh and delicious and service was top notch. 10/10 experience.

We love La posta , not just for the history but the food and ambience! We've brought friends and family from California to this place and they always bring it up when they go back home . The place is so big inside and each room is decorated with a different theme you can never get bored of this place. The parrots and fish in the front are always a favorite. Super cute patio and jewelry shop that closes around 7. Great for parties and family fun

A local took us here. Great decor and quiet atmosphere. We got there in time for brunch. Hubby had Chile Rancheros. Chili con queso was wonderful. I had fajita beef salad. It had wonderful fresh veggies and meat was flavorful. We had James as our server and he kept our tea refilled and was very pleasant

I give La Posta a C-. The food was mediocre. The corn chips tasted like they were fried in old oil. Not a great experience.

It looks like they've changed the menu, and there were very few Spanish-inspired dishes compared to what they offered in the past. We started with the chile con queso, which was very good. For my meal, I ordered the street tacos with carne asada since they were out of shrimp. The tacos were tasty and enjoyable. My partner and mom both had the Reuben sandwich and thought it was just okay. My stepdad ordered the Mexican plate but felt it was too salty and didn't enjoy it very much. Overall, lunch was a bit of a letdown compared to our previous visits. The service was okay, but it seemed somewhat forced, and the staff appeared tired and lacking energy. On a positive note, the ambiance was as lovely as ever. The patio is beautiful and remains one of the best parts of dining here. At this point, I'm not sure we'll return on our next trip unless the menu changes again and brings back some of the dishes we enjoyed in the past.

Not only was it cooked perfectly but it was thick, juicy, and utterly delicious. Service was amazing. Family run business and you can tell staff really cares about the customers. I also really appreciate that everything is made fresh that day. No freezers so they do not have any flash frozen foods that they throw in a microwave and call their own. Nope! Not here. Every single thing is made fresh and they donate anything left to those in need. The prices were reasonable too. There is outdoor seating which is great and inside is a little bigger than the outside would lead you to believe. There is also parking across the street if the parking lot is full. We went in at peak dinnertime but were seated right away. It looked like everyone else waiting had big groups of people but it was just two of us so we were seated near the bar. We started with the cactus blossom and it was really good. I haven't had one of these in years (maybe the last time was at a Chili's, but I can't remember). I ordered the blue lemonade and it was mildly sweet but it didn't have any flavor. I ordered the Roadkill for my appetizer. It was ground sirloin with mushrooms, grilled onions, and jack cheese on top. It was pretty good. My sides were the steak fries and the corn. My companion ordered the prime rib. We weren't sure it was available tonight as the waitress said they usually don't serve it on Sundays but for some reason it was on the menu tonight. My companion had a side salad and the chili as well. Everything was good. We had more than enough bread rolls because the staff kept bringing them out to us. The bread was good but by the time we got our entrees we were already stuffed. I couldn't finish my fries and I didn't even touch the corn so I took everything home in a to-go box. The bill was a little over $60 and for two people that's a pretty good deal for the quality and the amount of food we received. We had a good experience and I'd visit again sometime but based on other reviews it looks like everything is hit or miss. We were fortunate to be here on a good night.

The menu is surprisingly creative with tons of vegan and vegetarian choices (and they'll happily modify just about anything). I decided to branch out and try their vegan tamale, and wow -- easily one of the most unique takes I've had! It's served wet style with a rich sauce poured over the top, and it totally worked. Pair that with a glass of their perfectly brewed iced tea and you've got yourself a solid meal. The service was spot-on from start to finish -- several friendly faces checked on our table throughout, which always makes a difference.
