Service is absolutely terrible. I went in for carnitas and waited behind the counter, just standing there for about 10 minutes and nobody in sight. Finally someone came out and started packing salsas. I'm still waiting to be helped. I finally had to say "excuse me, I need some help"! I get the carnitas and go up front to pay the cashier. Nobody is there. I wait another 10 minutes just waiting for the cashier to appear. The lady that gave me the carnitas kept yelling out a name so that I can get checked out. She yelled for about 5 minutes and nobody showed up. I placed the items I wanted to purchase on the cashier counter and walked out. At one time, not so long ago, this was the best place for Carne Asada, Pollo and Salsa...Nick (the former owner) was great....Always smiling and often handing out a complimentary avocado to go with your purchase. Went today and had to pause when I saw the "under new management" sign outside. Went in anyway and found my fears to be true. Sparse selection, higher prices ( Maybe Biden's fault but still....) and FROZEN salsa! WTF? Who freezes the fresh salsa and tries to see it as an ice block? Bought some Pollo and Asada anyway....had to give them the benefit of doubt....Should have trusted my instincts. Asada was dry and tough....even cooked rare! Would have made great Alien Beef Jerky though! The pollo was fatty and lacked any flavor. Too bad, So Sad. Won't be coming here any more. I was at one of my friends bbq one night, and they were grilling up this orange colored boneless chicken. I took one bite, and I was hooked forever. They told me where they got it from, and this is now why I'm here yelping this place. A great little Mexican meat market, with a small produce section available. While produce is produce, this place is well known for the meat department, espeically the marinated meats, like the carne asada, and the boneless chicken. Excellent flavor on the chicken, my personal favorite, just love the seasoning, has a hint of orange juice in it........I think. It even looks good, with that reddish orange coloring to it. In fact, everyone that works there that I've come in contact with is super friendly! A little pricy but ranchera and habanero chicken was really really good. Archers was flavorful and tender. Some of the best carne asada i have ever tasted. The habanero chicken was spicy and flavorful. Both tasted great in tacos. I got the last bits of the chicharron con carne, so it was a bit chewy. Will have to try that again when they have a fresher batch. I also missed out on the habanero wings, but assuming it's the same marinade as chicken, I'm sure it will be bomb as well. I'd almost like to see their habanero wings as drumette and flat wingette parts only for those of use who like it bar style, but I guess I can always do that on my own and save a few bucks. The salsas were good, but could have used a little more kick. Tried the green which was mild in my opinion but listed as hot. After moving from Duarte to Glendora, I needed to find a new meat market. A friend of mine recommended to try them out. She said, the meat flavor is perfect. I gave this place a try four years ago and continue to come back. Not only do they have great meat but hot food to purchase as well. In the produce section you can pick up fresh salsas, guacamole and fresh tortilla chips. Everyone is very nice and you are greeted when entering. They have THE BEST marinated meat!! (My favorites are their chicken and carne asada). My family spends about $100 per visit here because we just love their meat! True story: there was a time (a few weeks ago) when I ate all of the meat my mom brought home-- 3 meals a day for 4 straight days. I only stopped eating these tacos because I ran out of their meat! They do have a a little grocery for a few necessities, but that's about it. I've been here on several occasions for their marinated meat and it never disappoints. Their marinade is so good here. La Pradera is located in a strip mall and quite honestly, I wouldn't dare to venture in without a seasoned professional (enter fiance). La Pradera has: - marinated chicken breast unlike some other carnicerias (lean meat is a good thing) - pre-cooked carnitas meat (less time cookin'= more time chowing!) - pre-made rice, beans, salsa (beware of the spicy red one) and guacamole (see above) The meat is so delicious and tasty that I wish I could eat tacos every weekend! You can find everything you need for a BBQ in this one stop shop. Another thing that I loved when we came- the cashier hooked us up with a few avocados with our purchase. SCORE!! If you don't youre only saving yourself about a dollar or so but you're not getting the right experience. I have come here a few times to buy Carne Asada & Pollo to grill but have never bought the cooked Pork Carnitas until today... I also bought the prepared Chile Salsa Roja, Queso Fresco & a few Chicharones. I had a ripe Fuerte Avocado at home. We made some of the Best Carnitas tacos which we all enjoyed! I highly recommend this Good Mexican Carniceria. The Azusa store is worth the drive - Take the 210 Fwy East - Exit Azusa Ave and drive South, Make a left Arrow Hwy. Well, I hadn't been to La Pradera market in a while because the prices have been high and there is always a wait to get any help from the meat counter. So, since today is 4th of July, I thought I would stop by and pick up some bbq Carne asada and chicken. I got there and as expected, there was a wait. I saw 4 guys behind the meat counter. The ticket system for service was not being used and it was a free for all to get served. One meat counter clerk was helping a customer at the hot foods and another was helping at meat counter. 2 other clerks were cutting meat and doing other errands behind the counter. As busy as it was, those other 2 clerks should have been helping out customers instead of hiding in the back. I saw one of them look at the crowd and then walk to the produce section. The other one was pushing a small cart and disappeared somewhere. The clerks helping customers didn't seem to be in any hurry to help other customers. So, I left and took my business with me. To boot, the marinated Carne asada meat (the call is Carne asada ranchera preparada) was very expensive and drowned in liquid marinade at $8.79 a pound. Very expensive to say the least and a lot of what you are buying is marinade (orange juice, lemon juice, onion and various spices). I won't be coming back. It's a meat market and your clerks are too lazy. Not helpful and not taking advantage of helping new customers and keeping current customers. Rookie move when you are trying to run a business. Be attentive to your returning customers and your new customers alike. Otherwise they go to the competition for those valuable $$$$ they will spend. You are better off going to Superior or Smart and Final. As much as I want to help out small businesses, I can't when you get treated like it's an honor for me to be there a customer. Well, I call BS and will take my $$$ elsewhere. I found my Carne asada and chicken at smart and final in azusa 1 mile away....only paid $5.99 a pound and it was fully marinaded but not dripping wet. I paid for the meat, not the marinade. I ended up spending $80 at smart and final. That $80 could have gone to La Pradera, too bad for them. read more

They have the best chicken & carne asada here in town! You must bbq it, lil twist of lime and their handmade tortilla chips, and a corona....BAM!!..you got action !! Limes and lemons are cheap usually 5 for $1, they just came out with a new habanero flavor marinade, has a good spicy kick but the regular chicken marinade is bomb!
