For a party, don't forget to call ahead or come in a day in advance! INSIDE: You are greeted with a relatively small space, including a wall of enticing pictures of meat for sale. There are also selections available in the center to grab and go any additions like noodles, sauces, fuel cans, etc. SERVICE: Cashier was friendly and helpful. She understood our prompt: enough meat, including wagyu, for a hot pot at home for 10 people the next day. She recommended a combo that she assured us was enough and indeed it was, almost more than enough! She got our information down for the next day's pickup. FOOD: Excellent. I found this place through the Facebook group SGV EATS. I got the chuck wagyu for $22.95 per pound for a Hot pot night at home. It wasn't frozen meat and the meat was more on the leaner side which I like. It wasn't melt in your mouth type of quality but it was decent and a better grade than the frozen ones you'd get at the supermarket. We also got fish balls and they have a sweet taste to them. They also sell bottles of sauces like the goma and ponzu sauce for $6 and $5 respectively. That was convenient since it saved me a trip to the super market. They also have Chinese soup bases priced reasonably as well. The store is located across the way from Alhambra hospital. You can park on the street. I think you can walk up and order but you might have to wait a little since they have to slice it. I called ahead and made my mom speak mandarin and order for me haha! Whenever my family does hot pot, we usually buy our meats from the local Asian markets or we'd drive out to Tokyo Central for some good deals. This time, we decided to spend a little more money for some quality meat. The shop is very unassuming, located on Las Tunas Drive between Santa Anita and San Marino (close to SGVMC). Storefront is pretty small, with a small waiting area and complimentary tea as well as their menu of meats displayed alongside one wall. We stopped by on a Saturday afternoon, and surprisingly there were around 5 other parties that also did so at a similar time. You can phone in orders, but if you walk-in, they'll prepare the meat in the order that they're received so definitely try to place your order as soon as you can to avoid a wait. Looking at all the selections, we were pretty overwhelmed; however, one of the workers or owners was friendly enough to explain the selections we were interested in. The meats here are not cheap - if you want quality ribeye and wagyu, it's about $20 per pound. You can order specific items by half a pound, but there are some that are restricted to by pound only. We ended up ordering half a pound of three different meats; total came out to a little over $40 which is on the pricier side. Out of the three, the prime ribeye was my favorite (and also the priciest). This was $35.95 per pound, but the meat was incredibly sweet and tender and melt in your mouth delicious. You could definitely taste the "meat" flavoring when biting into the ribeye. There were maybe about 15-16 slices, which isn't plentiful, but being able to taste this quality at least once was worth it. The Kobe brisket was $23.95 per pound. This meat was alright; not the best tasting, but had good flavor and wasn't bad. For around $12, I would say that it was a bit overpriced just because the meat wasn't anything special. And lastly we got the prime kurobuta for $25.95 per pound. This was my least favorite out of the three. Taste was decent, but we had way cheaper pork from the local supermarket that tasted better than the kurobuta, so I couldn't justify buying this. I will say that all the meat slices were quite lean and didn't have much fat in them, which is great if you're trying to eat healthy. They have a VIP membership for $35 a year that gives you a 10% off discount each time you shop. The presentation of the meats and the packaging are top notch, and probably something you pay for in the price of the meat. tl;dr - Meat To-Go has some quality meat that is worth a visit! I definitely recommend giving them a try. Now that I know how good the ribeye was, I'll probably stick to that the next time I visit. They also have skewers and meat for KBBQ as well as seasoning, noodles, grills, etc. read more

I wish I had found this place sooner! Picked up the following orders recently: 1. Japanese Wagyu A5 short rib, 2 lb pack for $440. 2. Angus bone-in short rib, $18/lb. 3. Lamb skewer, 15 skewers for $30. 4. Scallop skewer, 10 skewers for $30. 5. American Wagyu short rib (boneless), $69/lb. I'm trying to eat less meat in my life, but when the quality of meat is this good, how could I resist? The meats here were definitely HIGH quality. Although, I have to say I have had better Japanese Wagyu A5 short rib else where. This batch of meat was just a tad bit chewy compared to other Japanese BBQ places where the A5 is just melt-in-your-mouth goodness gracious yummy--but maaaaybe it was the way it was cooked at home. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ But still, it is rather good compared to regular Prime USDA or Choice meat. No comparison! But for $220 a pound? That was nearly $30 for each small slice of short rib; one tray came with 15 slices. I've had this for $10 a slice at Tsuruhashi and it was super bomb! The rest of the meats I ordered were tasty! I, especially loved the lamb skewer! Lamb can taste gamey, but in this case it was not bad at all. The meat was tender and juicy. It was a hit! The lamb skewers were accompanied with two small seasoning containers: regular cumin and a spicy cumin. The spicy cumin was my favorite! It paired wonderfully with the lamb skewers. I ended up putting this spice on everything! It made all the meat more flavorful! For those lazy folks that do not want to go in the store, this place offers online orders! =) read more
