This is my favorite place to get tacos but the cleanliness and food safety has been concerning lately.. noticed cross contamination today, a raw shrimp on top of raw chicken, there was a fly inside of the display case dead right next to unwrapped food, and they store the cheese and the ham in the same container unwrapped. This is a carniceria but most customers were coming in to buy ready made food to go. We ordered two carne asada and one bean & cheese burrito. Second time here and not disappointed at all. Met the owner Raul and extremely polite and very friendly. He really took the time to explain the various specials that he offers all week, Monday through Friday, Call and ask what specials they offer for the day. Taco Tuesday $.99 and Friday during lent they fry the fish/seafood for free when you purchase the food there. Other than that, the older ladies that serve the beans and food are rude. They treat you like you are bugging them and they don't want to serve you. A few weeks ago when Covid 19 started the panic buying in LA County. I came to this meat market looking for white rice. No one in surrounding cities had rice. I grabbed two bags of long grain rice, 1 for my elderly mom and 1 for my self. The bags were not a brand name. It was taken from a much bigger bulk, placed in plastic bags for individual sale, about 3-4lbs each. The cashier said my total was $22.00. I told him, how much is the rice? He said it was over 3 lbs and they were selling it for $3+ a lb. I told him that PRICE GAUGING was illegal. I walked out and will never return. In these hard times, they would try to increase the price because no one else had it. Any price raise over 10% is against the law. Very irresponsable! read more
