Parking - plenty of it. Food - pretty good. Today's Daily Special was the Chile Relleno but I went ahead and upgraded it to a full plate. It's definitely has a kick. The plate came with the Chile relleno, rice, beans and tortillas for $9. Specials - they have daily specials which I'm going to try and check them all out. Staff - were super sweet and helpful! We only get them here for when we are making nachos, menudo, other soups, or just want some chips. They make them everyday and they sell out everyday. In this economy this is one the best places to get a quick cheap lunch. They have daily specials and regular items that range from $4-$10! My favorites are the $5.99 chicken taquitos and on wednesdays the $4 chille rellenos. You can add rice and beans to any order for a buck! I was turned on to this place when my coworker brought a beans tray for our potluck. The beans alone were so bomb I had to check the place out. I could eat a whole tub of the stuff! On tuesdays you can buy a whole roasted chicken for $5.99. This chicken is marinated in all this juicy flavor. It was so tender it literally fell apart just by picking up a piece . Add on 32 oz of beans and rice for 8 bucks each and you have a nice meal meal for 2-4 people for about $22. Its a steal!! Grab a bag of their delicious homemade tortilla chips for $3 and a tub of their awesome salsas. On top of that the ladies there are always super sweet to me I love them! This is the third time I come for their "Sunday Pozole" just to be told "It's not ready yet." First time I get there at 8:30am and was told "we don't serve it until 10:30am. Second time I come at 10:30am and was told it won't be ready until 11:15am. Came in today and was told it won't be ready until after 12pm. What's the point of offering a "daily special" if it's never available? Might as well have a sign that says, "Pozole, Sundays maybe?" Very disappointing, and to add insult to injury, they have the nerve to charge more for their Pozole that isn't ever available. read more

I unfortunately found the raw Asada meat to have a liver taste which might be a thing for some but not me. The marinade was very tasty but the liver taste was a little over powering after I grilled the meat. I really like their breads and the beans were awesome. I have to try the carnitas the next time I'm in the neighborhood. read more

I was really hoping my 1600th review would be something more special than this. La Pradera is both a Mexican meat market and a take out fast food counter. The reviews sure painted a better picture than my experience. There was no line at the counter and I ordered three street tacos and their special of the day, chile relleno. The tacos were $3.49 but worth much less. Just tasteless. The al pastor was made with cheap meat and the sauce was unremarkable. The chile relleno was not warm enough. Neither was the sauce. Another fairly tasteless dish. You will need plenty of hot sauce to jazz this up. To top it off, they did not even have a knife to cut the food. It was not a finger food and certainly not tender enough to do so. Maybe the carniceria is a better bet but the cafe is terrible. read more

Pleasantly surprised at the ranchero carne asada they sell here. It's a very small market, but the staff is friendly, the meat is priced well, and it's tasty!! Another plus was their guacamole....I'm picky with guac...but theirs is ! Will definitely recommend them and be returning. read more

As other reviewers have mentioned, the prices at La Pradera is very reasonable and there is no crazy line like other carniceria's I've been to. I got to La Pradera on a Sunday morning and it was pretty quiet. The man working behind the meat counter was friendly and patient. Ended up getting 4 pounds of chicken, 1 pound asada, 2 pounds al pastor and 1 pound of chorizo. Along with the meat, I picked up green salsa (be aware this was spicy), guacamole, chips and a bag of tortillas all for $40!! Stopped by for menudo this morning. Looked up for menudo spots close by since I didn't have much time to go to my favorite place Los Grandes. Well to start off no tortillas, oregano and any kind of salsa provided with my order. The menudo wasn't that great as well. Absolutely the best Mexican market in OC! I drive all the way down from Long Beach to get their amazing carne asada. Not only is their carne asada to die for, their beans, rice, salsa, crema... Are all amazing! Everyone at my BBQs always ask me where I get my meat from. 2 words: La Pradera. The market is super clean and their fresh produce is always delicious. The fresh breads from their bakery are so good and you can't just get 1 thing. Cream cheese and jalapeno stuffed bread?! YES PLEASE! Staff is great and I haven't been disappointed yet! This place is pretty good. They have a hot bar of food. Not a restaurant but taqueria type food. The Chile Verde costillas are amazing. Prices are cheap and they give you alot. My kids tried the carne asada burrito and liked it. I definitely will be back to try more. read more

This hole in the wall has some of the best (and cheapest) burritos in OC. Literally the only downside is that they only have 2 indoor seats, but most customers get their food to go so seating has never been a problem. read more

Came here a few weeks ago with my son to grab some burritos for the fam that we used to do often from this place. My lady who is Hispanic usually orders the burritos but ive done so at times as well. This special day for some reason the lady who makes the burritos was NOT feelin my black ass at all! I felt her weird vibe instantly. She had attitude the who time and she wrapped the first burrito up i asked if she could add sour cream. She precedes to start wrapping the second burrito and tells me NO its already "wrapped" and that i would need to purchase sour cream from the store. First time there. Small carnicería in southern Santa Ana not far from South Coast Plaza. I love carnicerias, so I'm very biased. Came asada on a fresh grilled tortilla is a food of the gods, like ambrosia. And not that funky fruit salad that was popular in the 80's. Yummy premade salsas could be found (try the roasted red one) and tomatoes, avocados were available. Half star dinged off the rating for lack of size and inventory, and another half for sub par premade rice. But a very solid and CLEAN place to get what you need for a BBQ. read more

I come for the tacos, taquitos and the 1/2 chicken meals 1-2 times a week. The food is good, fresh & inexpensive. My co-workers love it, too. The only bad thing I have to say about this place is that a few of the ladies that work there are really fucking rude. Total bitches to me and my friends. I guess it's because I'm white? I had to cook food for a hungry group of 50 men for a weekend and when I saw the prices on the marinated chicken my jaw dropped and I thanked the good Lord for providing! That was four years ago and I went back recently and it's only gotten better. The carne asada is delectable and the marinated chicken was perfect. It was so easy to grill on my new barbecue! I don't know what they're doing to that chicken but I hope they never stop. And at only two bucks a pound plus change you can't beat that deal! I love that they have everything you need and it's my one stop shop for Mexican week, where I make a bunch of meat at the beginning of the week and have tacos and enchiladas and leftovers when I'm busy it's so easy to stay together and that chicken and carne asada stays fresh and still tastes like the first time when you reheat it. This place is great!! And the service is excellent, the workers are nice and smiling for a whitey like me when I bust out my two and a half spanish phrases. I feel welcome and cared for here. Tacos and burritos are very good my Favorites are the soups that change from day to day. Tuesday is my jam got to get the albondigas. Saturday caldo de res. Wednesday a big Chile relleno loaded with cheese and topped with salsa. Monday chicken en mole delicious. They cook early keep it in the warmer and when its gone its gone. Its quick convenient and very inexpensive compared to going to a taqueria or lunch truck. The girl at the counter told me and I quote " want me to be honest you" I said she said this chicharron had been made since Saturday. My husband and I moved into the area and we were exhausted and hungry. Ordering pizza wasn't going to cut it, we were ready for a home cooked meal. So we decided on buying marinated meat and grilling it at home. I never buy marinated meat, but we picked up a pound of red meat and a pound of chicken breast. I added a little garlic powder and a few more seasonings (control freak much?) We also picked up fresh guacamole, tomatillo salsa and some freshly made chips. This was honestly the best chicken I've had in a while and the hubby loved his red meat. The guacamole was really good and the salsa was great too. Being that I am 8 months pregnant and currently having the sweetest tooth ever, we picked up some sweet bread as well. And, we're definitely coming back to pick up the same items.
