Just Wow! Is the correct! Expression! Yes, prices have soured everywhere. What I apricate, the most was when everyone and their mother was hording the TP. Not one shop had legumes! Well, guess what? Nuno Bros Market had resources. You know why? because they monitored every single customer to assure they were only taking 2 items per family. Yup! that is how I scored Tp and legumes and other basic items. This is an old ma an pa operation. This is not a chain or it is not franchised so that being said. It is not fancy. The reason why I return to this little hole on the wall? Well, believe it or not it is due to certain authentic items such as 'Lirio" soup bars. Among other items that I am not going to bore you with. The meat dept is in my humble opinion over priced but then again it is the "convenience" they are charging. The customer service does not exist so do expect nothing per say special. The cashiers in my humble opinion are respectful but not driven to cater to no one. They do offer a ATM machine that comes in handy to pay your electrical bill in the corner of the shopping center. The shopping center is rundown but it offers an abundance of front face parking. I've eaten at tons of Mexican restaurants to know what good Mexican food tastes like. I've had everything from King Taco to Taco Mesa, from authentic Mexican food to "Gringo Mexican," and Nunos has been our only Mexican food destination as of the past year. It's about 3 blocks off the 55 freeway on McFadden and Standard and in a heavy hispanic area. However, I've never felt threatened or unsafe going here because they do have armed security guards, but I would not go when it's dark. It's a market, an eatery, and a bakery. What more could you ask for? Their meats are in a display case and most sit in their liquids until you order your tacos or burritos or by the pound. They will then chop up your choice of meat and give you what you ordered. They have 4 different kinds of salsa that you can put in little containers to go. Oh and they make their own tortillas which you can purchase in a 3 dozen package. Their tacos are loaded with meat and are only $1.59 and you have your choice of having them with cilantro and onions. Burritos come with rice, beans, and meat and I think cilantro and onions and are $3.59 and enough to make you not want to eat for the rest of the day. The real reason why I come here is for their carnitas which is absolutely amazing! It's tender, juicy, and flavorful. My family and I always order it by the pound ($6.99) and then buy a bag of their fresh tortillas and pig out. Cheap amazing authentic delicious heart clogging Mexican food. Gloria's in Costa Mesa on 19th street and Alerto's in Fountain Valley would be my two other alternatives for Mexican food. Update 7-5-08 Went here today after my mom had previously seen someone with an item that did not look familiar and didn't look to appear on the menu. So she asked the lady what it was and we finally got around to trying it today. Turns out this item is not on the menu and is called a gordita and basically mirrors a sopes. It's basically a masa pocket deep-fried and stuffed with beans at the bottom, a heaping amount of meat and topped with lettuce, onions, tomatoes, sour cream, goat cheese and a spicy avocado sauce. My wife shopped here before we got married. Oh man, let me tell you brother, the pork, the charizo, the chicharon, the ribs, the carne asada.... I would deny knowing my wife 3 times if all that good food walked in the door. It's a little dirty, always crowded, the speakers are SO BAD you cannot recognize the music. Doesn't matter. I followed the Yelp reviews and I'm really glad I did. Grabbed a few pounds of their carne asada and it was excellent. Thin, juicy and a very flavorful marinade. One of the top contenders for best carne that I've tried and I've had lots! We also got their red, fresh salsa which had a great flavor and a good bite to it as well. I would have never thought this type of place existed. I was taken here by a couple of my co-workers who live around the area. I have the carne asada and for my surprise, they have tacos de chicharron which is sooo bad for you but one of my favorites. Definitelt had a great taste, much better than your usualy Mexican restaurants. This place doesn't seem to be %100 clean but in my experience and coming from a third world country, those are the places that have the best food. Plus I have mever gotten sick from eating there lol They also sell meats by the pound, chicharron, carne asada, barbacoa, etc. They have your usual agua de Jamaica, orchata , etc. They also offer plates with rice and beans. They have some but limited seating inside and some sitting in the patio. They take credit cards and cash. Service is pretty fast. WOW! Uhhh, to put it nicely, this place is AUTHENTIC!!! On the search for some good ass carne asada meat to grill up for taco night, I was looking for a market that actually sold carne asada instead of some whack ass meat with some bbq sauce and tabasco. I looked on yelp for one and came across Nunos bros. If people are saying that they've been driving miles and miles for this place, I'm guessing this place is good. Upon arriving, I can say, this place is authentic. I felt a little out of place because practically I was the only asian there and I felt like some people thought I was some lost asian girl stuck in a mexican supermarket. Anyways, I walked right up to the carniceria and I do not get intimidated easily and I straight up tell the butcher to give me 2lbs of carne asada meat. While the dude grabs me some meat, I also notice that they have pre-made salsa and guacamole. Since I was too lazy to make some I ended up getting the salsa and guacamole. After a little more shopping in the small but nice market, I left. I must say, if your want an authentic mexican meal, this market is the go-to place. They have everything from pre-made cotija cheese to hand made tortillas. I really had an authentic taco night bc of shopping at nunos. Even though their meat really wasn't as marinated as I wanted to be, (thus minus 1 star) I really enjoyed shopping here for my taco night. I must say, some of their stuff such as their guacamole, was just superb, some of the best I can say. First time visiting this place and when I was buying meat I noticed some flies inside the chicharron box and I told the guy who was helping me about it and he just told me , ok a put them out in a bit. But after he finish helping me he went strong the next customer and didn't check about the flies. I come here enough to write a review by now. This store is located in a small plaza on the corner of Standard and Mcfadden. Its a convenient store for things such as meat, mexican cheese, some veggies, dairy (milk, cheese, eggs although the eggs aren't very cheap here), mexican candy, dried chili's to make salsa and a lot of other authentic mexican groceries. The size of the store itself is very small and off to the right in the back is a meat counter that sells primarily beef and pork. You can also buy what you need here to make Menudo. The parking situation is not the best. The lot is small and a bit crammed. But I always manage to find a spot to park. Overall, you can definitely find a lot of what you need here for mexican food recipes. There are an assortment of different kinds of tortillas and next door there is a bakery that sells mexican sweet bread (they've raised their prices over the past years says my bf so maybe go to Northgate if you can). You wont always find the best deals here but if you live nearby, this store is convenient for finding what you need to cook dinner. read more

Try to get there Saturday or Sunday morning which is when you'll find everything freshly made. Another item that's on the menu but is usually overseen is the deep fried chicken hard tacos. You have to order those "preparados". They're under $2 each and they are loaded with lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, cheese and guacamole. I stay away from the asada. This place consists of a meat market(great stuff for carne asada......but that is a different review), a panaderia and the taco place. Use to come by here for their chorizo con huevos burrito.....just like home. This is one of those places where you walk up to hot food. There is lengua, carnitas, rice, beans, chicharrones.......do I need to go on.........looking right back at you. There chicharon(pansa) taco is fantastic.......take your cell phone out and keep 911 handy.....you may need to call your doctor after here. Burritos are a good choice.......pretty big and full of well everything. You can ask for your tripas to be crispy for your tacos also......always a plus with my friends. I'M NEVER GOING HERE AGAIN!! I normally expect for everything to be fresh, especially the 'MEAT'! Well, don't know about you, but me, yes! So, I get my meat, drive home, 'about 6 miles'! Then, I drive home, rush in my house to get dinner ready for my 3 kids. It's been about 25 min. from the store to when, I grab a pan & take the meat to chop up, when I noticed in its "Packaged Bag', SOAKING IN ITS BLOOD!! Okay. So, I try and rinse (not soak) some of its blood off. But the meat will not stop releasing its blood! (I'm thinking, did they soak the meat in some red food coloring.) Yikes!
