    Chipotle chicken chimichanga

Just had a meal here before seeing a show at The Cabot. It was hopping! Justin, Georgina, Isabella & Izabella were attentive and super pleasant! The queso fundido and chicken empanadas were excellent. The chipotle chicken chimichanga is online item - but they happily made it in house in request. It was as deliciousas it was HUGE! And whatever you do - don't skip the churros!

**Food Review: La Qchara, Beverly, MA ** Translating to "The Spoon," La Qchara's menu is a vibrant celebration of tradition and culinary passion, perfectly situated at 275 Cabot St in Beverly. **Drinks** : The evening began on a high note with a selection of drinks that could rival any festive occasion. The margarita, expertly crafted, was a highlight--perfectly balanced and packed with flavor. The mojito, sangria, and Aperol spritz were also well-received, each adding a unique twist to our drink choices. **Appetizers** : The yucca balls were an immediate hit. Often overlooked, yucca was transformed into delightful, crispy bites that echoed the comforting essence of potatoes, deserving a 9/10. The queso dip followed suit with its indulgent cheesy goodness and flavorful meat--a solid 8/10. **Main Courses**: - **Quinoa Bowls** : An absolute star of the evening, the quinoa bowl was adorned with mangoes and plantains, offering a refreshing twist to the nutritious base. Whether topped with chicken, salmon, or shrimp, this dish was a unanimous 10/10. - **Arepas** : These 100% homemade corn flour buns were a testament to freshness and quality. Filled with either shrimp and avocado or shredded beef and avocado, they were a joy to savor, scoring a well-deserved 9/10. - **Enchiladas Mole** : The gluten-free chicken enchiladas draped in mole sauce were competent, though they lacked the depth typically expected of mole, landing at a 6/10. - - **Sizzling Fajitas** : A vibrant and interactive dish, the fajitas (available in various proteins) came alive with mango accents. While delicious, they required prompt attention to prevent the chicken from overcooking, rated 8/10. **Dessert** : No Mexican dining experience could conclude without churros, served here with chocolate sauce. Though slightly overdone, they still managed to provide a sweet, satisfying end to our meal, rated at 6/10. **Overall Impressions** : La Qchara in my book gets an overall food rating of 8/10, ambiance at 6/10, and affordability at 8/10, it's a beacon of quality and authenticity in the North Shore dining scene. A return visit isn't just an option; it's a necessity for anyone craving genuine and spirited flavors. Shrimp Fajitas

After a fun hike on the North Shore, we were hungry and felt like delicious Mexican food. Naturally I searched for a place on Yelp. La Qchara popped up and we didn't hesitate. Parking was super easy in downtown Beverly. We were greeted by a friendly face as soon as we walked in. It wasn't as busy so we got to choose where we sat. The ambiance was calm and quiet which we ap We ordered an app- Tequenos. Never had these before and I cannot wait to have them again. It was similar to a mozzarella stick but better. The house chips and salsa they brought out was spiced perfectly and the proper thickness. And the chips....yummmmm. My hubby had two pineapple margaritas and he enjoyed them. I was the DD so I only had a little taste. I said "man, too bad this place isn't closer, those are so tasty." For our entrees, we had the shrimp fajitas and mole chicken enchiladas. Both things were spot on. The mole was a little on the sweeter side but I didn't mind. They also brought out more than enough tortillas for the fajitas which is rare. Overall, this place was welcoming, the service was quick and friendly, and the food was delicious. We cannot wait to come back!

    BIRRIA GARNACHA...freaking delicious!!!

OK...I'm in this neighborhood twice a week and have passed this place over (for no real reason) several times....well, that was a HUGE mistake!!! OMG!!! Cute little casual restaurant, small bar, a dozen tables, clean, welcoming staff and atmosphere Ben was a delight to deal with, an asset to this restaurant for sure. I was in a very indecisive mood tonight...He made suggestions and gave me the space to decide all while being there and attentive . He was efficient, friendly, professional, and patient (and makes a tasty Margarita!!!) The Quesso Funditio was fantastic!!! Pipping hot bubbly cauldron of cheese came to the table with some warm white corn tortillas. Charred and chewy on the bottom and perfectly creamy on the top, studded with fresh jalapeños and chorizo...Yummy!!! Dining by myself I could only sit and think about my Fundito-loving friends, of which I have several, and when I can take them here... Birria Garnacha was next...Rich Birria Stewed Beef on top of a thick creamy Arepa, with Salvadorian Curtido and fresh Guacamole and napped with the Birria Consommé... soooo freaking good!!! Two well crafted Margaritas to accompany and my only regret is not trying a dessert I will certainly be a future regular here!!!

Carne asada with brown rice, black beans, guacamole and flour tortillas.

I rarely make reviews, but I felt compelled to do so after my first visit to La Qchara. The staff was very friendly and its a very small but low-key restaurant. The food was absolutely amazing. I had the Carne Asada which came with brown rice, black beans and guacamole. It was amazing. The carne asada had that perfect authentic smoky / charred flavor to it and it was very tender. My wife had the fish tacos, which I'd rate a 4 out of 5 because the "fish" taste was a little too subtle, but with the sauce it was still pretty darn tasty. I also had a mango mojito which I honestly wasn't expecting it to have a spicy kick, but that was also really good. Definitely a must if you're in the area and wanna try something new!

    Birria garnacha

Ordered the Birria Garnacha and it did not disappoint! I have ordered from the other location in Melrose a few times and it is always delicious! This location is a great lunch spot in the heart of downtown Beverly! Service was great as well!

Great water view that is most likely even better in summer. Staff was very nice and attentive. Appetizers came out decently quick in which we had the buffalo cauliflower bites and crab cake. The cauliflower was cooked well but the buffalo sauce was very strong. It could have used a nice blue cheese dressing on the side for dipping. The crab cake was the highlight of the night. The one crab cake sat on a bed of pepper relish with the mango habanero aioli on top was a surprisingly good combo. My wife ordered the filet and ask for it medium. Looked good coming out the we find out the potatoes and spinach the steak were laying on were very cold and the steak was very rare. At a price of $48 you expect the meal to be at least warm and cooked properly. And now the churassco, I had zero idea what this was gonna come out as but it was just kind of a hodgepodge of stuff thrown on a plate. Yucca frites were very dry and stale tasting so it took a lot to chew. I didn't know the carrot was going to be shredded carrots cause unless it's in a salad I prefer actual carrot slices. Steak and plantains were cooked very well and were tasty. It came out on a skillet but there was zero sizzle. I don't really understand why they put onion rings on the rice it just made it harder to eat. I do hope the food got more consistent throughout the night cause the beginning was kind of a mixed bag.

"It's much better to face these kinds of things with a sense of poise and rationality" - i picked it because of this quote on the menu, and i forgot how much i used to love p!atd. i thought to myself, "i've heard this before somewhere..." i loved the bread & roasted garlic butter, however on a little cutting board it was difficult not to make a mess. i guess that's part of what makes it "kitchen table." it is the perfect, round sourdough loaf with the most delicious butter. the roasted chicken was prepared flawlessly. juicy and tender inside, and a perfect crispy skin, just wow. i absolutely loved the selection of spring vegetables, along with the sherry sauce; sautéed spinach, carrots, mushrooms, and onions. the mashed potatoes were perfect once i added extra salt, extra pepper & whipped it up with more of that garlic butter to my liking, however it was prepared great. i requested it without bacon butter, how it typically comes prepared, and the garlic butter is a great substitute. everything was impeccable. i travel to boston often just for food, because i find that the food in beverly, as a whole, is just not up to par, even with all of the marketing. kitchen table is different than any other restaurant in beverly, and now i don't have to travel so far to get the most delicious meals! i am honestly blown away by how amazing my meal was, and i highly recommend kitchen table to anyone in the north shore, and i'd even say it's completely worth going out of your way for. whether solo, a romantic or friend date, or with a small or large group, kitchen table is here to serve (one of the best meals you've had in a long time). there were some other ladies at the bar that were extremely hospitable and helpful as well, i didn't catch their names this time. i wanted to take some pictures at the end of my meal, at closing time when it had emptied out, and molly encouraged me to take all the pictures i needed. just fantastic service by all of the staff. i couldn't be happier with my first experience at kitchen table. here's to many more! ambiance: 4.9/5 food: 5/5 drinks: 5/5 service: 5/5 kitchen table: 5/5

When we got there, we found the owner and his girlfriend cooking dinner. They were very nice and welcoming. I knew to expect the owners living quarters to be really close to the guest rooms because of some of the reviews I read but since the room we were in had a private entrance we weren't worried, we figured we could come and go and have the privacy we were looking for with no problem. We told Ted that we were late sleepers and not to worry about providing breakfast for us (the website says breakfast is served between 8:30-9:30). We would much rather sleep in and then grab brunch somewhere and we didn't want to hold him up from whatever he may have had planned for the day. He seemed somewhat resistant to the idea of not providing sustenance for us so after a little discussion, J and I told him "okay, how about 10:30?" He said he would leave certain items out for us. The house and our room really were gorgeous! Ted is an architect and he has done a really great job on the house and grounds. We stayed in the pond room which had cathedral ceilings, a two person jacuzzi, a gas fireplace, double glass doors, lighted double sinks that automatically turned on when you walked into the room, a whole wall of windows, decks, and heated floors. We were really happy with the room. It was very clean and decorated with a subtle nautical theme. From the moment we got there, we kind of felt like we had to whisper in our room. Probably because there wasn't any other guests there that weekend and the owner was having dinner 20 ft from our door. I know they probably couldn't have heard us but it did make me feel more uncomfortable than I thought it would. In the morning, we were woken up bright and early by the sun coming through the large, high windows in our room. No wonder breakfast is so early, how can anyone sleep through that? However, I do have to say that if I wasn't a cranky morning person, this would be a really enjoyable way to wake up, sun and beautiful blue sky and trees to look at while lying in bed. We pulled ourselves together and quietly went to the kitchen for breakfast. Ted said he would leave things out for us so we assumed we'd be alone. He immediately came around the corner when we got to the kitchen so it felt like he may have been waiting for us. He served us cantaloupe slices with yogurt, granola and berries and a tomato and basil quiche, which was all very good. What wasn't good was that he talked to us from the kitchen the whole time we were eating, so we had to keep turning around in our chairs to respond to him. It was uncomfortable and awkward (if he had sat down with us, it wouldn't have been as bad). During our weird breakfast conversation, it comes up that J is a software engineer and next thing you know, Ted is asking for help with a website he is working on. I have no problem with J helping someone out, but DUDE we're on vacation and we are paying you good money, don't ask for business help while we are trying to relax. It just wasn't appropriate. I said "Maybe when we are on our way out on Sunday he can help you for a bit". After that, we pretty much chose to use our private entrance to the room when we came and went from the house. We didn't feel like discussing in great detail every time we came back from somewhere, what we had done and where we had gone. I think Ted meant well, he had a lot of advice and suggestions for things to do and he was a really nice guy but it just didn't mesh with our style. For the most part, we like to be left alone when we go away and Ted didn't seem to pick up on the signals we gave him. I think this B&B would be really great for an older couple, for some reason I feel like older people are more open to this type of attention. On Sunday when we packed up, J was heading out to take some things to the car and Ted followed him outside for help on his website. He spent more than an hour working on something with him, while I sat in our room waiting. We probably won't go back. Gorgeous place, beautiful backyard and pond, and nice trails that lead to a running path and the harbor. I really liked the physical surroundings but didn't really feel relaxed because Ted was overly available and obviously in closer earshot than we would have liked. A week later, Ted called and asked BF to go on trip advisor and write a positive review of our stay!! No wonder I found so many good reviews online. 5 stars for aesthetics and 1 star for invasiveness! It wasn't horrible but it was not our style. **Updating this review in March '09: Ted called J a month or so ago and said he found this review and apologized and offered us a free night at the B&B. Not sure if we'll take him up on it but nice that he tried to make amends.**

This gem is nestled in a quiet neighborhood bordering a 37 acre sanctuary with trails that lead down to Salem Harbor. I looked at a number of B & Bs before finding this obvious and rare jewel of a home. Ted and Sophie, our hosts, were flexible as we arrived early and left a bit late since the off season is easier on everyone. This home has been meticulously redone, as have the beautiful grounds. Indeed, this property is featured in a number of architectural, gardening, and home magazines. The obvious care and attention to detail is very very unique. Our host, Ted, and his lovely dog, Sophie, made us feel right at home. Ted has an easy way about him that makes one feel like family the second you walk through the door. As is common with Bed and Breakfasts, you are a part of the family while in residence - that's the charm. The breakfasts were lovely and we invited Ted to join us as we learned about the house, its history, and received numerous tips about local attractions, restaurants, shops, and some of the local North Shore news. All in all our stay was wonderful. Ted opened his home to us and helped make our stay a memorable and relaxing time. I most enthusiastically recommend the Fox Pond B&B; we'll be back!
