I'd stay at this joint again. The room was clean (and quiet), the beds were comfortable, and the shower was nice and hot. The staff was very friendly, and a free hot breakfast was included in the lobby each morning. The room included free Wi-Fi, a mini fridge, and a coffee maker. The location was about a 15-minute drive from Dinosaur Valley State Park and within a mile of the downtown square in Glen Rose, which offers plenty of shopping and dining options. There are two convenience stores nearby, and a burger place right across the street from the hotel. Very convenient! read more

Stayed in room #114 Blood stain on a hand towel in bathroom. Hardly any shower pressure. Made it really hard to wash out my hair. Water in the ice bucket not taken up prior to our arrival. Bathroom was in terrible condition. See photos. Chipped paint in tub among other things. Shower curtain not long enough to stay in the tub while showering so all the water gets out soaking the floor. I'm guessing that's why there is so much damage to the lower walls. Lightbulb out at desk lamp. I had to ask for more waffle mix because their big machine was empty. Juice machine broken. No hot coffee in the coffee containers first morning there. Fitness room closed for repairs. For what we paid I wouldn't recommend staying here. You could find a much better hotel somewhere else. Girl at the front desk was sweet and tried to accommodate the best she could. Other than that they need to touch this place up for sure. read more

Stayed here for a reunion. The bathroom floor had dirt and mold around the floor, absolutely no water pressure in the shower, one outlet not working and missing a lamp. Canceled one night a week before and got charged 1 night's fee and then raised the rates of our other two nights we stayed. $560 for three nights and $603 for two nights. WTF! We will never stay here again. Total ripoff. Save your money and stay elsewhere. read more

This place some how has an 8/10 on hotels.com. I have never once asked for another room in a hotel, this was a first. First room the shower was clogged and brown and black flakes of stuff came up when we tried to twist the drain. The second room after requesting another room had dirty sheets, the air was not on at all, and one of the beds box springs or mattress was broken and caved in. The let me look at a third room and again sheets were stained, and furniture too. The walls were chipped and worn. The whole place looks like they attempted to "put lipstick on a pig". The woman up front was kind and apologized for the rooms being undesirable. I'm not sure if she was use to that issue or what, but regardless she was professional and did her job well. She deserved 5 stars for that. This hotel deserve none for not even trying to create an environment where you feel welcome or clean in the room. We got a refund and went to comfort Inn a mile up the road, where the place didn't smell funny in the hallways and rooms. Don't bother with this place. read more

I gave it two stars because the breakfast was pretty good and the rooms were big and had a few modern touches. I didn't give more stars than that because: -BEWARE: the pool area is slippery. Several people said they almost fell and a little boy split his lip open requiring stitches and chipped his tooth. They should prob do more to add more texture or put different flooring to prevent this. -BED: the bed was hard, maybe some people like it that way but I tossed and turned all night. The pillows were pretty good. -ROOMS COULD BE CLEANER: luckily the bedding seemed fresh and clean, however, the floor was sticky in one area, the handle to the bathroom was sticky, there was dust on all surfaces like they were never wiped down, and fingerprint smudges on everything. I also can't figure out why the coffee pot is put in the bathroom literally two feet from the toilet. There was plenty of room in the room to put it, no need to put it right next the toilet. The breakfast was good for a hotel. Breakfast included eggs, sausage, biscuits, gravy, cereal, waffles (you make yourself), mini muffins, and juice etc. It was busy and the attendant was doing her best to keep everything filled. read more

The Setup: We booked two adjacent rooms on the first floor. The Experience: Upon entering the first room, we immediately noted a musty smell (locker room-like). Upon further inspection, the air conditioner had dust caked inside the air vents, there was dust stuck to the walls, there were cobwebs on the ceiling, and the paint/coating in the bathtub had been peeling, making the tub appear to be quite Seussian. In the second room, there was a massive stain in the carpet and a stain in the cloth of the only chair in the room. We went to the front desk to ask for a different room. Positive note: the front-desk worker was very kind and accommodating. She offered to show us a different room on the third floor, and even accompanied us to see the room! Instant musty smell, and a no go. This was obviously not going to work out. The Ending: We call around to several other establishments in the area, and scoped out a new option (and, I have to say, it is MUCH nicer. I'll leave that review elsewhere). At this time, we called the LaQuinta and informed them about the issues. Upon asking for a cancellation and a refund, we were told that we would still be charged half for each room! Now, I understand cancellation notice policies and even agree with inns having them, but when you receive these kinds of complaints from patrons, it'd probably be a good idea to give them their money back. Suffice to say... if you come to Glen Rose, you'd be better off spending your money elsewhere. read more

If I was going to nit pick I would say that our room had an extra stand up portable AC unit in it because obviously the current AC unit doesn't properly cool the room. This was not a real bother, as it did its job, but it was slightly off putting Other than that the room was super clean, the shower had great water pressure, the breakfast looked typical but clean and well done, and the staff here are amazingly nice! - Waited a minimum of 10 minutes for the Janitorial staff to FIND the behind the desk clerk to check me in. - The clerk was friendly and patient, and made the checking in process easy. - The room was moderately modern, there is hard wood floors in the bathroom and main hallway way and they could of use a good mopping. Things were a bit sticky. - La Quinta Corp. needs to invest in getting their A/C system either upgraded, or keep up with the maintenance better( this is TEXAS) . The rooms were humid, sticky and wall units were not getting the job done. There was de-humidifier in the room and it could not keep up either. It was also full of water and would not turn on until fixed. I reported the issue to the staff and it was never handled. I ended up using YouTube to learn how to fix the de-humidifier. When back up and running it made very little difference. I ask La Quinta to please invest in upgrading or conducting maintenance on you A/C systems. - Beds are very hard, but sheets did seem clean and new. - TV is very small, and looses connection constantly. - Pillows are very thin and soft, very little support although you get six of them.( I recommend bringing your personal pillow) - Comforter and sheets are extremely thin. - Parking was very well lit for parking at night, and there was plenty of parking. However to the Staff that allowed the intoxicated, Shirtless and loud bikers to hang out both outside the front door, and inside the waiting area and consume alcohol at 3am you might want to fix that issue. - when leaving no staff inquired about my stay, simply handed my my receipt and sent me on my way. I will not be staying at this location again, it would work just fine for an emergency and / or last minute but for long term planning I do not recommended it. read more

Location was great for all of our dinosaur adventures. Staff was nice and breakfast was decent. Unfortunately, we found a pair of dirty socks under our sheets so don't expect them to actually change the sheets before you arrive. The air conditioner also rattled so loud it woke up and scared our kids. The room smelled very musty. The springs were broken in one of the mattresses. There were gross stains on the chair and lamp shades in our room. We will obviously not be returning here the next time we visit Glen Rose. Hopefully, with time, we can laugh about the socks. read more

Stayed there last week, everything was per usual. Except for the pool. You get what you pay for. So that's a good thing, for under $100 you shouldn't expect The Ritz. Rooms and hallways are clean. Free breakfast is pretty typical of all hotels. You get your waffles, sausage, gross eggs, toast, cereal, some fruit, etc Easy check-in and check-out. Maids do a great job Front desk staff are friendly - especially if you can catch them when they aren't outside smoking. Beds are fine TV is very small Pillows are HORRIBLE The real bummer of my last stay was the pool area. Pool was ICE cold. no joke. Ice cold. None of the adults could do it, only a few kids braved it - and then only for a minute at a time. Then they would jump out and come to the hot tub. Hot tub was luke warm. Hot tub water was the temperature that indoor pools usually are. Warm. Not even close to hot. Then somebody turned on the bubbles and it got worse! The water heated up to a more hot temperature. Not even close to a normal hot tub temp - but at least hotter than just being warm. BUT the issue was that turning the jets on - for some reason - put the chlorine into full blast mode. There was a group of four there and the chlorine became so strong they had to get up and leave. We lasted about five minutes and our eyes were burning so bad we had to leave. No towels. When we got there, there was a family of six (three adults, three kids). There were zero towels. So a member of their family went to the front desk and came back with exactly six towels. After they left, another group of four came in. The chlorine killed us, so I had to walk down to the front desk and ask for towels. This is literally within five minutes of the last guest who went and asked for towels. I told the front desk lady there were no towels, and that we had four people and there were four more people in the pool. She gave me four towels. I said "there are at least four other people there, and zero towels" and she said "how many are in your family?" I responded four. She smiled and pushed the four towels over. THIS type of service should not be allowed. Knowingly forcing paying customers to get out of the pool and while soaking wet, walk down to the front desk to beg for towels. When she knew there were no towels there - it boggles my mind she didn't take care of it right away. That's just bad service. Finally - not including the two cockroaches that were on the wall in the pool area, the amount of water on the sides/floor was EXTREMELY dangerous. I saw at least three kids slip and fall and two adults almost slip. There was about a 1/2 inch of water on the floor surrounding the pool. Clearly a family of kids were there doing a lot of diving/cannonballing/jumping in or having splash wars or whatever. In our thirty minutes there I saw 5 people fall or almost fall - six including myself - where you slip but catch yourself before falling. If a customer walked into the pool and slipped in a huge puddle of water and hit their head.....ya'll would be opened up for a huge lawsuit. Specifically because the dangerous amount of water that was EVERYWHERE on the floor. Obviously pool floors get wet. But this was horrible. So all in all, a pretty normal stay. Nothing fancy, but for under $100, this hotel usually delivers. But the front desk staff and the pool were pretty poor on this last trip. To be honest, the main reason we stay at this hotel is because of the indoor pool. If it's going to be ice cold, the hot tub luke warm, and a small river flowing on the floor.....we'll just drive to Granbury and stay there in the future. read more

My advice: Don't stay here! We stayed for 2 days, mind you we tried to go to another hotel but our reservation couldn't be cancelled. We had 2 rooms, one king and one with 2 queens. We started with room 108 (queens) and 111 (king). Room 108 had a slight musty smell but we figured it was just because we cranked the ac and maybe it hadn't been on for a while. Room 111 SMELLED HORRIBLY! We actually couldn't stay in that room it smelled so bad of must and mold. We told the front desk and she moved us to "the only other king room", 323. That room smelled as well. Not as bad as 111...we could actually breathe in 323. Anyways, they informed us they turn the ac off in the rooms to save money and turn it on when people check in to the room. So basically, with no ventilation, warm temps and moisture in the air, the rooms are breeding grounds for mold. We went across the street and bought Febreeze plug ins and spray. So for 2 days we enjoyed the smell of musty moldy Febreeze. Oh wait...I forgot to mention that the fitness center is closed. And the business center, although open, has a computer from 1980 that doesn't work and a printer that isn't hooked up. I asked the front desk about it and the lady said, "Yeah it sucks! It's a piece of junk and doesn't work". So much for doing any business. Neither room had a phone that worked. You wanna reach the front desk? Take the elevator downstairs and go to the front desk. Positives: the waffles come out in the shape of Texas so that was fun for the kids. Overall we hated our stay. I wish it was refundable because we wasted a lot of money for a nasty hotel. read more

I've stayed here twice and both times have been great. Rooms are kept clean and service is outstanding. During this last stay I did have an issue with my priceline reservation but Hershel and Britney got it resolved and got my room in no time. Thank you to them both! The toilet was clogged and when we called down they said it would be some time before they could help or we could just plunge it ourselves. The bed was broken. Stains ALL OVER the room. Room smelled like mildew as soon as I walked in. There were massive stains on the bed sheets, lamp shades and curtains. You can tell they don't properly clean the bathroom and some of their towels are so off white and dirty looking they should be thrown away. Plus the toilet ran for hours (making loud noises all night). Finally the business center was not even hooked up and even the staff did not know how to set it up. Black hair in the bed and bathroom. We reported it that night and they said we were in the best room they have. The next morning I called again to see if they would clean. Left for several hours to goto fossil rim and got back still not cleaned. Called the front desk again andsaid they would send someone right up. We drove 60 miles to this location specifically for the indoor pool & spa. What a disappointment! The pool had no filtration or circulation, it was green with large hair balls laying at the bottom. The front desk lady said she reported it the day before, but maintenance wasn't coming until the following day. This was not informed at the time of reservation. We will not be back. read more

My family of 4 stayed here on a Saturday night on our way to Great Wolf Lodge. My son wanted to visit the Dinosaur Valley State Park. The decor was modern and clean. The continental breakfast was as I expected. Something about Belgian waffles that makes my tummy happy. We did not use the pool during our stay but looked clean from the side lines. Both front desk reps were cordial and made the check in/out quick and painless. I was also informed that all La Quintas allow pets. You won my vote! We decided to stay at La Quinta during our trip to the Brazos because we had a great experience with another La Quinta recently, but our stay was far from what we expected with one exception. The best thing about this location was the breakfast. Other locations only offered waffles and cereal while this location offered scrambled eggs, sausage, waffles, biscuits, etc... Very disappointed in our stay on a Spring Break weekend. The pool was completely green. The hot tub had 12-18 inches of foam floating on the top. The had asked the front desk both the night before and called in the morning what time breakfast was served to. Both times we were told 10:00 am. For how much it was to stay here, my family and I were appalled by the quality. The lobby reeks of mothballs, even the towels smell like mothballs. Our door was jammed so even though the key worked, you had to hip slam the door just to get it to open every time! When we finally unjammed the door into our room, it smelled like moldy damp basement. Like someone had wet all the carpets and they never dried properly. Humid, damp and awful. If the smell couldn't get any worse, my dad accidentally turned on the heat instead of the AC and it smelled like burning hair or the worst burnt smell mixed with mildew you can imagine. We walked across the street to dollar general and bought candles and air fresheners galore. The light in the bathroom didn't work so we ourselves unscrewed it and took the bulb out. They never fixed it. Our entire stay they just left the light parts on the counter in the bathroom, broken. The sink was clogged so awe all couldn't brush our teeth and had to wait for the maintenance man to come unclog it before bed after a long day of driving. To make matters worse we went to use the dresser drawers and they were filled with trash!!! Empty soda cans and wrappers! We put the sign on our door when we left during the day asking for our rooms to be cleaned and it was almost laughable to see how they "cleaned our rooms". I've included a picture of how they made the beds. Ridiculous. In the end my family made the most of it, but it was the worst experience I've had at a La Quinta and would NOT recommend this place to anyone. read more

After calling many times to make sure the pool and hot tub would be good for my daughter's birthday and being told yes it would, they decided to resurface the hot tub the second day we were there. The pool ,although heated, was ice cold. We were upset so the owner agreed to refund 50% of our stay at check out. Upon check out, we were refunded 30%. I spoke to him on the phone upset that it was incorrect and when I asked him to let me talk he told me to "shut the f#@$ up". Then he proceeded to tell me he was the owner so there was nothing I could do about it. Stay FAR away from this hotel. read more

I stayed at this hotel when my cousin was getting married. The night manager, Jim, was very very helpful. We had an unusual problem that he helped us with. The night before the wedding, we discovered we were supposed to make the groom's cake. And that groom's cake was supposed to be made of rice krispy treats. Throughout that night, we received nothing but help. And when at 1:30 am we finally had a giant Texas flag rice krispy cake and no idea what to do with it, Jim came again to our rescue and let us put it in the freezer. By the end of the night, that hotel felt like more of a home full of helpful relatives than anything else. I would most definitely recommend this hotel, because no matter what problems come up on your vacation, you're sure to find a helpful hand or two just a hallway away. read more

I was quoted a rate of $79/room by 2 hotel reservationists within a 24 hour period, however, when I requested to reserve a block of 10 rooms for an upcoming event, I was told that the rate was $89 (by the same reservationist who stated 60 seconds earlier that the rate was $79). When I politely questioned the rate increase, I was told that individuals from my party could 'take a chance that the rooms wouldn't fill up' and individually call and receive the lower rate but that the hotel charges more for blocked rooms. I have never experienced a block rate being more than a regular rate! When I questioned this again, the reservationist advised me that there are other hotels in the area that were cheaper and 'maybe you should call them instead.' I was stunned! I politely told her we would take our business elsewhere. I booked a 10 room block at the Quality Inn down the road for $79/room. read more
