Well, I took my Rolex in to be serviced and I was told it would be $1,800 dollars that was twice as much as the past two times I sent it in to Rolex. So I sent it to my jeweler in Indiana and he sent it to Rolex and it was under 800 including a complete refurbish and repair by Rolex. I have been a loyal customer of La Quinta Jewelers for many years, so it is extremely disappointing to write this review. I took a bracelet in that I've owned for 25 years to have the safety chain and the connecting rings repaired and replaced. Since that repair, the chain has continually gotten tangled and twisted into the bracelet -- something that never had happened prior to the repair. I took the bracelet back twice, and although he provided courtesy repairs, the issue continued and the chain kept tangling and breaking. To me, that seemed to show that the original repair had created the problem and he (Ralph-the owner) acknowledged that. What made this situation even more upsetting was the interaction during my last visit. When I calmly explained that I simply wanted the bracelet restored to how it originally was, I was met with hostility. Ralph became verbally aggressive, accused me of calling him a thief and blaming the tangled chain on wear and tear. He kept repeating that he did not replace the chain, despite the fact I took it in because the original chain had broken in half. I reiterated that the problem did not exist prior to his repairs. After years of bringing my jewelry here, this level of treatment was completely unexpected and unacceptable. In looking back through other reviews, I also noticed similar comments from previous customers describing comparable experiences. It was disappointing to realize that I was not the only one who encountered this type of behavior. I never asked for anything beyond having my bracelet returned to its original condition--I never had the chain tangling issue before the repair. I asked for an explanation as to what the $304.50 charge I paid him was for, and Ralph stated it was to replace the rings that held the chain and not the chain itself. Although once he pulled up his customer notes and read them to me, the notes clearly stated it was to replace both the chain and the rings it attaches to. Additionally, I have attached photos of their original estimate to repair and clean ($39.95 & $49.95, respectively) and somehow it became over $300. Needless to say, I left the store with my broken bracelet and an owner who was not interested in correcting a problem he created. Based on my experience, I can no longer recommend this jeweler. read more

My husband took 3 watches in to this store to have the batteries replaced. They put 2 batteries in 2 of the watches but they said that the Movado was broken. This watch was running fine until the battery died. We immediately took the watch to a different jeweler and were told that there is a specific way to remove the battery in a Movado watch. Parts in the watch were broken and missing due to the improper removal of the battery, and with the missing and broken parts it was not possible for the watch to run. My husband went straight back to LQ Jewelers and told them what the other jeweler said and they denied any responsibility and said the watch was broken when he brought it in. They offered to fix it for $195. My husband told him that the watch ran fine until the battery quit. And he called my husband a liar. Our recommendation is don't go here! I found this jeweler to be extremely informative and accommodating to meet my needs. I wanted my stone reset and he had multiple options for me from recasting to altering the current setting. He gave me pros and cons based on what I wanted the outcome to be. I felt that he had given me full disclosure about each option and wasn't trying to "sell me". Although I decided to move in another direction and did not decide to use him for this project, I would use him for future jewelry purchases or repairs. I also found the owner to be extremely personable --- he makes you want to do business with him. Now...., Here's a tip. If you arrive during lunch time you may find the closed because he may have stepped out to pick up his lunch. I was hopping mad when this happened to me but quickly calmed down once he arrived back in short order. While I do think it's unacceptable for a shop owner to shut down to go pick up lunch in an age where lunch can be delivered -- I do respect that it's his option and if I don't like it I can go somewhere else. Recently I brought my old digital watch in for a battery and band-pin replacement. $18.99 for the battery and $10 for the pin. A little ouch, but the hurt was when the watch leaked and died after one exposure to water, which never happened in the 10 years of heavy exposure prior. The old gasket was not replaced and was not even lined up properly. I took the watch back for inspect and was told simply it could not be salvaged. I walked into La Quinta Jewelers for the first time today, but it definitely will not be Be my last visit. I needed repair of an earring to make it clasp, and I was treated as if I was a long term customer. In less than five minutes, the repair was finished and the earring is good as new!
