Nice la Quinta. Large pet area, close walk to Walmart with a path. Safe too, we arrived at 3am to find a car with the hatch open. Not sure if intentional or not I didn't dare mess with it. Woke at 7:30 to take dogs out and still untouched. I will definitely stay here again. And no extra charge for dogs as one review stated.

This is in the beautiful town of rifle.

I am writing this because it looks like a lot of times people give reviews when they have had bad experiences. I have now traveled all around the US. this summer and this Hotel is perfect for an overnighter if you have been traveling all day. The beds are comfortable. There is no cable tv. But when you are tired you are looking to sleep. My husband is very sensitive to smell and it passed the clean test. It is a dog friendly hotel. There is a pet fee. But I have never stayed in a hotel where there wasn't. The pet fee is 20.

Overview: This La Quinta Inn & Suites in Rifle, CO is a very pleasant 2.5-star class hotel located right along the I-70 freeway located along a strip of fast food restaurants and a Walmart. Booking on a non-peak day usually means a rate a bit lower than $100 a night (as of June, 2015). Parking is free and the lot is large. Pets stay for free and WiFi is also free! The Amenities: 5/5 Indoor pool (5 feet deep and about 20 feet long) and hot tub (with small and very scratchy towels), self-serve laundry machines (I think around a little less than $2 for washing or drying), wonderful breakfast (consisting of eggs, waffles, cereal, oatmeal, sausage, juice, apples, coffee), and an exercise room with 3-4 machines including an elliptical and a few resistance machines. The Room: 4/5 Smelled strongly of an air freshener likely designed to cover up the smell of a prior smoker. Microwave and small refrigerator with adjustable temperature. Refrigerator on the loud side. Air conditioner is a large window-type and was moderately loud but very reasonable. The king sized bed is very comfortable and is topped with a wide assortment (5+) of pillows ranging from firm to medium. No extra-softs here unfortunately for those of us who like to sleep on their backs but I still slept well. The room is well sound isolated with a very heavy front door and the television comes with a digital guide with a huge assortment of channels. There is a large leather (leatherette?) arm chair in the corner but no couch. The Bathroom: 4/5 Only one soap bar between the shower and hand-washing area with no soap tray. Combination shampoo/conditioner. Decent water pressure and beautiful tiled floors and shower. Large vanity with plenty of space for toiletries. The Service: N/A. We did not order room service but the front desk staff was pleasant. The Location: 4/5. With a nearby Subway, Arby's, Walmart, and some Mexican restaurants, you will find affordable and tasty meals. The Rifle Falls Park is about a 30 minute drive to the north (15-20 miles) with scenic views and plenty of trails. LOTS of bugs in the early summer so bring bug spray. Conclusions: This La Quinta Inn & Suites is a 3-star class hotel that is well priced and very comfortable. I used it on a move from North Carolina to California and would 100% book it again. I have no real complaints except for the smell of the room, and I really can't blame them for inconsiderate guests smoking in rooms where they shouldn't.

Horrible experience, front desk staff were very rude and inconsiderate. Stay away from this hotel if you can help it.

That was really nice and convenient. There was a breakfast at the hotel. However if you are gluten free and/or vegan there is not anything there for you. But there was hot food available. Felt the hotel was plenty comfortable and modern. Was easy to get in and out of parking lot. Would come back if I were in the area again.

Where shall I start: *SOMEONE'S DIRTY UNDERWEAR: We checked in and she gave us a room on the 4th floor. As soon as we walked in, I noticed the sheets were a bit wrinkled. I asked my kids if they sat on the beds and they said no. As I was unloaded out suitcases off the luggage cart, that's when I saw it: IS THAT SOMEONE'S UNDERWEAR RIGHT BESIDE THE TV STAND? Yes it is.. GROSS! *STINKY SHEETS: Once I saw the underwear I knew the place hadn't been cleaned. I picked up a pillow and took a whiff: EWW.. head sweat, like someone took a hike and went to sleep. That means whoever cleaned this room just remade the bed. Double gross. We went downstairs and I asked for a different floor altogether as whoever cleaned the fourth floor has failed. We were moved to the third floor and I did a sniff test and it seemed decent. The only issue we had was with the tub's water spout: when we pulled the leaver up for the shower, half the water was still spewing out the main faucet... so wasteful! But then we moved on to breakfast: *EGGS, SAUSAGE, POTATOES: So far so good. This platter of food was decent. *WAFFLES: That hot basic breakfast item what is expected was completely gone. No waffles for you! *ORANGE JUICE: None. No OJ. Just apple and the Tropical Mango 'juice' tasted like colored water. Horrible experience, dirty rooms, breakfast was a fail. This Hampton Inn should not be considered as part of the Hilton family AT ALL. We will NOT be coming back to this Hampton Inn nor do we recommend staying here. Someone from Hilton needs to come to this location and do an expectation check as this location completely fails all requirements of what the Hilton hotels represent.

When we arrived, the check-in woman said that Hotwire had allocated our room, which had a queen bed for three people, without a sofa bed. I said this wasn't appropriate for our group size, but her suggestion was that we call Hotwire and cancel the room. This just didn't make any sense. I asked if they could change our room, but she insisted this would be an upcharge of $50. Then I asked if there was a supervisor who could clear up this problem, although this woman also passed the buck to Hotwire. I assumed they must be full that night, but no, they weren't. They were just cheap, argumentative, and irrational. After haggling for way too long, the manager finally agreed to provide us a suitably-sized room, but "just this once." WTF? This was appalling customer service. I'll add that this is a dated Holiday Inn with run-down rooms and amenities, and without a working pool. (They didn't have any gluten free options at breakfast either, so why should we pay more to receive less?) Two stars for the serene view of the river, zero stars for the absolutely dreadful customer service.

The furnishing and lamp shades were badly worn and/or torn and there appeared to be something smeared on the wall as you entered the room. When my husband started got irritated and mentioned how nasty the room was with other hotel guests nearby, the clerk mysteriously was able to find another room. The second room was slightly better, but this place is WAY overpriced for the condition it's in!

Perhaps the booking service failed to state he is a service dog. I am not sure of the reason, but I did cancel the reservation. Typically, when hotels do not accept pets, and you show up with a service dog they will sell you a room, but the attitude is there. The included breakfast was quite good for a budget hotel, with lots of hot choices including scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, potatoes, oatmeal, and fresh made waffles. There is hot water for tea, coffee, and fresh juices. The room itself was small and had good amenities including a refrigerator, TV, and a well constructed bathroom. Temperature is controlled via a rather loud wall mounted A/C unit. The only other option is opening windows. Unfortunately, I'd have to say that the floor was more comfortable to sleep on than the bed. It had a massive bowl/divot in the center which put me in a very awkward and painful position. I was unable to get to sleep until I moved to the floor. Given the increased prices and the poor condition of the beds, it's unlikely that I'll return in the future.

The bathroom was super adorable with a white mirror smiling back at us and the heater would operate every 15 mikes or so and warmed up our room. Although spotless, the "clean" smell was incredibly strong and we did prop open the windows. We were surrounded by lots of restaurants and town life. Our sole purpose was to visit the ice caves of Rifle and Western Star Inn was perfect, because this was just that place where we'd sleep and leave out the door early morning. Western Star Inn had breakfast all the way until 11:00am, that we took advantage of! It was mostly a continental breakfast style, filled with snacks and no drinks.
