My partner (from Barcelona) and I stopped by late Friday without a reservation. The food, live music, and energy were great, but service was slow and the staff seemed overwhelmed. It would've been fine if we weren't hoping for a quicker dinner out. I'll give it time to settle in before returning (or perhaps return with a larger group not in a hurry), but I'm rooting for this place. it's in a great spot for us and has so much potential

Visited La Rambla for our dinner date and really enjoyed buoyed it. The establishment has a warm and stylish ambiance that captures the essence of Spanish dining. The atmosphere is inviting and well-suited for a relaxed evening of tapas and drinks. Service started a bit slow but improved as the night went on, with Valeria providing friendly and attentive service. The drinks menu included the refreshing El Valenciano, and a robust Espresso served in a charming heart-shaped saucer. The tapas menu offered a diverse array of flavors, from the zesty Octopus Carpaccio and savory Spanish Tortilla to the creamy yet slightly cold Iberico Ham Croquette. Bocado Gallego delivered smoky, spicy notes, while Gamba al Ajillo was bold with lingering heat. The Sueno de Cristal platter stood out for its balanced Jamon on Pan Tumaca. Overall, La Rambla delivers an engaging Spanish dining experience with a warm atmosphere, friendly service, and thoughtfully curated tapas.

We ordered several different tapas items, boquerones were wonderful. Tablas Serrano was delicious. Also tried the seafood paella. Service was attentive and Ambiance was great with Luis Miguel music playing.

We entered to a friendly staff who sat us immediately. The vibe is very modern with some Mexican influence. We were with another couple and I think they were under the impression that this would be Tex-Mex, but it is not. For drinks I got a Mezcalina, my wife got a normal margarita normally I don't love Mezcal, but was feeling adventurous and this drink did not disappoint, it exploded with flavor and was my favorite drink I have had here. The bar program might be the best of any restaurant in the area, as it should be since they have a speakeasy as well. In my previous trip they brought us complimentary chips and salsa, but the time they brought Mexican hummus and pita. I was initially disappointed, but this was one of the more unique complimentary dishes I have had, and loved it. For starters, we got the TOSTADA CHUTORO, which was a tostada with raw fish and caviar. There were two, and although smaller bites to share, the flavor once again really shined through. I would say this is similar to a ceviche dish with really fresh fish and bright flavors.

Food was good, but I'm not sure if I could consider anything spectacular enough to justify some of the prices. I decided on the Aguachile Wagyu, which was perfectly cooked and paired with charred herbs. Very enjoyable for a small high-protein meal. My friend ordered Tacos de Filete, which she said were, "okay." We also had a few drinks... They were heavy pours. My only complaint is that the tajin-salt rims were more for decoration (smeared across the side of the glass and not very hygienic) rather than for the palette. Worth mentioning: We were never offered any chips or salsa, although I've read reviews where other patrons enjoyed some before their meal. Our server was friendly, but a bit disconnected.... Maybe that was the biggest problem - - the experience was diminished due to lackluster service.

Ok....Moving along to why everyone's here. My guest just had a classic breakfast of eggs, sausage and we added in the lemon cream cheese pancake. I had a sweet tooth and this did the trick. The pancake was soft, fluffy and not an overwhelming sweet from the lemon cream cheese. but enough to cure the craving, All of his food was seasoned well. I had the Chilaquiles and it was so full of flavor. The chicken breast was cooked just right and the addition of corn and abundance of veggies in the dish was a welcoming surprise. It was a very hearty but clean meal. The wait staff was fantastic. Both bartenders (One was from Hawaii- forgot his name) were very welcoming and communicative. The restaurant manager along with owner also came by to greet and check on us. Last but not least, they were celebrating The 4th of July with $2.50 martinis. What a steal!!! I have heard that their happy hour is very decent for the price and the quality that you receive. I said all of that to say, this spot should definitely be on the list for any occasion or time of day.

My friend ordered a drink she was raving over, Dazed and Confused. It was lemony and incredibly refreshing. We started with the Foie Gras Meatballs. Delish! It's like a creamy meatball. I ordered one of the specials: Flat Iron steak (MR) with Brussel sprouts. The steak was a little on the rare side but it was still amazing. Lightly charred on the outside with a drizzle of a sauce I couldn't place. We finished with their little trifecta of desserts: Creme Brulé, Key Lime pie and chocolate mousse. Upon arrival we noticed the live music was held on the outside patio that's shared with some other neighboring restaurants. We approached the hostess and requested to sit outside however she stated there were no open tables. I asked if we could be notified when a table opened and she stated yes. In the meantime we sat in the bar area. A gentleman approached us initially to take our drink order, then he switched with another waitress. The restaurant was really nice with dim lighting that sets the tone for an intimate date night. We ordered a wedge salad, crab cakes, steak, fries, and mac n cheese. Presentation of the food was really nice and overall the food was decent. We anticipated this steakhouse being comparable to a Perry's or Kirby's, however customer service and food quality did not meet the bar as we expected. There were a few tables that opened up outside however the hostess never informed us that we could move to the patio. That was disappointing as we mainly came for the music. But overall it was a decent experience.

[EDIT only to correct to "Postino"]…read more I use the one-stars sparingly, I really do. This has nothing to do with the food, as we never got that far in the course of my miserable experience at this location (not sure if it's a chain or not). Walked into a relatively quiet restaurant somewhat later in the evening after strolling a bit in the summer Houston heat around the Woodlands. A couple of people recommended Postino. The issue arose when I asked for a possible menu modification. Specifically, I was trying to avoid GOAT CHEESE on the meatball dish I had my eyes on (which otherwise looked pretty tempting). The server indicated that they probably couldn't do it but I nevertheless requested this... a couple of minutes later the server returned with the bad news. Apparently, it simply had to be served as-is, according to the menu. This in itself wouldn't have got me to the point of writing this review. However, I, incredulous, was kind of laughing (you have to laugh) and said something like "so I can only order exactly what's on the menu, and the kitchen can't do anything different?" (slight paraphrasing, perhaps). There wasn't much further conversation with the server but within about 30 seconds of this exchange, a "manager" stormed over to the table and borderline-abusively shouted "is there a problem?!". This "mini-manager" as I will refer to her, proceeded to inform me that they could NOT accommodate changes because it would "violate the integrity of the restaurant" ... I of course I also found a bit humorous, and in this state inquired further about what sense it made to be so obnoxiously strict for someone just trying to grab a quick bite about 30 minutes before closing. I'm sensitive to the work involved in running restaurants and serving obnoxious customers, but I was NOT rude, obnoxious, or difficult. Just blown away by this treatment. I was then informed by the mini-manager that she was from LONDON which I assume meant I should accept that her cosmopolitan background and (I assume vast and high-level culinary experience) meant that I should shut my trap and stop being so picky. At this point I was compelled to mention that I, too, grew up overseas and was very surprised at this complete lack of flexibility. Within another 30 seconds or so of this dialogue, the mini-manager tipped the menu over on the table and abruptly shouted, "you know what, I'm refusing you service!" That made it all easy from there as we promptly (while laughing, partly out of shock) exited the facility. Huge disappointment and embarrassing in my view for a restaurant that seems otherwise to have maintained a great reputation - and especially so for the fact that service (and people in general) in Houston tend to be kind and accommodating, not typically RUDE or reactionary. I'm encouraging this restaurant to have a look at the service model. I can't say I'll try Postino again the next time I'm in Houston, but I certainly hope it continues to truly earn its 4.5 star rating, 'cause they sure did NOT when I was there this weekend.
