I want to give huge props to LA Roots Catering. We contacted them to cater a party for 100 people at a few days notice, and they came through with flying colors. The initial process was made very easy by the attention Iseah and his team paid to us throughout. The day of the event, the catering team arrived early and made sure everything was completely set up well before the guests got here. The food was delicious, the serving staff kept on top of making sure all stations were stocked with food and that different courses were served on time. We booked LA roots for our wedding not only because of how great the food was, but also because of how communicative Isaiah and Nikole were and how they were so keen on working with us to ensure that they fit within our budget and that the food would be great for us and our guests. We absolutely loved LA Roots Catering! we had our wedding on 11/13/2021 and if we were to have another wedding, we would book them in a heartbeat. And here are my reasons: - Isaiah and Nikole were super profession and helpful from the start, the communication was top-notch- tasting was set up quickly, menu was finalized perfectly, and every detail were double checked prior to the wedding day to ensure smooth execution. This to me was as important as the food, and they delivered. The whole process was so easy and stress-free! - THE FOOD. Food was one of the most important aspect of our wedding. We didnt want "wedding food". We wanted FOOD FOOD. After our taste testing we definitely knew they could handle great food for over 125 people. We did family style with Shrimp Creole and Braised Beef as our main dish. People loved the braised beef and I personally loved the Shrimp Creole. For cocktail hour, we got the tuna tartar, steak crostini, and vegan hush puppy. I LOVED the tuna tartar since the food tasting, and based on my sister (who is very picky) also LOVED the tuna tartar. Others also liked steak crostini saying it was very good steak quality. - Service. LA Roots Catering brought their own service team for the wedding. And they were so nice. I know that since I am the bride they were probably nice to me, but multiple guests have told me that they were SO NICE to everyone. One guests really wanted to try the tuna tartar but those ran out pretty quick, so the waiters actually made sure this guest got some tuna tartar when they were out. This was a nice gesture that the guest made sure to tell me she felt very taken care of. And as a hostess, nothing makes me happier than knowing my guests were taken care of. - Price. They had the most reasonable price out of maybe 8 vendors I reached out to. The value of what they offer was comparable by none other vendors. I thought their food looked and taste as good as some high end catering but with a much more reasonable price tag! And their team is also so much more efficient than other vendor team. They had about a team of 6 and took care of my entire guests no problem. I had vendors quoting me team of 10+... You can just tell Isaiah runs a good ship. I've posted some photos to show that even their presentation was really nice. We opt out of the "cedar plank" placement because of the wedding overall look, but even then everything looked SOOO beautiful!! So in conclusion... book them! read more

I just had the pleasure of being catered by LA Roots Catering. I contracted them for my dad's memorial. Right off the bat they were nice and helped me decide the type of service I wanted. Then they came early and were well prepared in serving the trays. The food was prepared on site and refilled quickly so it was fresh and yummy. All was was delicious! I got so many compliments for the food! Good thing I overordered a bit because many had seconds, thirds, and fourths lol. The staff (shoutout to Tommy) was very sensitive to the occasion and so helpful. I ordered creole shrimp sliders, beef ribs sliders, polenta and salmon crostini all delicious! We had our wedding this past May in 2021 and let me just say, look no further. Isaiah and his team were incredible and professional throughout the entire process of our wedding planning. From the moment I reached out, the first phone call, to our tasting, and wedding day, Isaiah has always been up front, personable, and so genuine with every interaction. He was super patient with us throughout our covid wedding planning experience which was definitely appreciated. On top of it all, I had guests raving about the food to me multiple times after the wedding. Even my parents and family enjoyed the food and specifically called it out. To this day, I still have people tell me how great the food was. That almost never happens with wedding food, so LA Roots definitely knows what they are doing. I cannot say enough good things about LA Roots. From the minute we met Isaiah and his team, we felt like family. They are caterers that will advocate for their clients. When you work with LA roots, you feel like they have your best interests at heart. For our main course, we opted for the cedar plank salmon, tri tip, pesto mashed potatoes, and roasted asparagus. We picked LA Roots from the exclusive vendor list at our Lombardi House wedding and were so thrilled with our choice. From the beginning we knew we wanted to prioritize having delicious food at our wedding that was inspired by our cultural roots. LA Roots were so prompt in getting us a custom menu proposal and were transparent with their pricing from the beginning (which was very reasonable). LA Roots put together a custom Peruvian inspired menu that was so delicious. Our guests complimented us on the food throughout the night! The staff were also so lovely to work with! A few things we want to emphasize about the service we got from LA Roots on the day. First, LA Roots avoids a lot of the add-on costs that other caterers sometimes impose. They did not charge us to cut and serve our cake and they did not charge us to warm and serve our late-night snack, even though we did not order the late-night snack from them. This seems small, but all those little added costs really add up. It made us feel like LA Roots was taking a service-driven approach where they were focused on giving us the best food experience we could get on the day, rather than being proprietary over food service choices and wringing as much money as they could from us. Second, all the staff were lovely to work with and very good at their jobs; the service was so efficient! Our guests got served dinner so fast that most people were done with dinner before we even started doing table visits. Third, they wrapped up all the left-over food and gave it to us and to our local guests! Fourth, they were true team players with our other vendors. We were a little short on tables, but they helped our planner ad-lib service options for dessert AND lent a catering table to the bar tenders. LA Roots was the last minute, unexpected delight of our wedding this year. Due to COVID we had to downsize and reimagine our "reception". We decided to send most guests home with a picnic basket after the ceremony and do a very small dinner with the rest in our backyard. Oh. My. God. I had LA Roots cater my dad's memorial and was underwhelmed. It cost several thousand dollars for a 70 person event and the food was bad. I would look elsewhere if I were you. There was a lot left over because it didn't taste good. I found it inedible and was embarrassed that that's what we served. The reviews were really good so I trusted that. I am writing this review so that doesn't happen to you. Don't waste your money here. We paid extra to have them set the food up and the people setting up were not friendly at all. Unfortunately, we had an issue with timing since we had different sites for our ceremony and reception. We ordered lobster rolls specifically for the Mother of the Groom and she was unable to get any. I spoke to Isaiah after the wedding and told him how happy I was with everything, except the Mother of the Groom was so sad she didn't get to try any lobster rolls. Isaiah literally had an entire tray of lobster rolls delivered to my hotel within an hour! The entire wedding party was so excited and grateful. When looking for vendors for your wedding, you want to find people that go above and beyond and that is exactly what Isaiah and his team did for us. I really enjoy this place! We get this catered for our work and I couldn't be more pleased. They serve everything from healthy to a little more sinful entrees. They do a fantastic job on arriving on time for delivery. I have also seen them in action when they cater and they do deliver! They are quick, prepared and professional. I have had their chicken and rice wraps and their beefs wraps, they are very healthy and light feeling! These aren't the type of dishes that won't put you in a food coma! I have also had their lettuce cups (corn, beans, onions, chicken), it was basically a South Western salad, loved the flavors. I am not usually a fan of corn in my food but this was awesome! I also had the privilege to try the Hawaiian roll sliders: one with beef, tomato, lettuce and some amazing aioli sauce and bacon. We did family style, as our venue was quite large and we had about 225 people to feed. For appetizers, the home run was definitely the short rib sliders. Everyone LOVED them! Everything leading up to the wedding including communication and the tasting was incredible. We specifically wanted a taco bar. They ended up passing appetizer tacos. NOT at ALL the experience we were hoping for at our wedding. Didn't ever see the tacos. Also I also double checked they would be serving water days before the wedding. Only half way through dinner after asking several times did they do water service. This is was unacceptable as we had dry tables and kids tables that required this service. When I followed up with this company about these issues, they blamed my coordinator and then told me I knew the tacos would be passed. This is the most annoying and offensive part. Working with Isaiah was the best wedding decision I made besides marrying my husband! You will get so many compliments on your food but best of all he felt like a big brother. He is kind, honest and caring besides being a bad ass chef. Originally we were going to have a vineyard wedding with dinner served family style. We changed our venue to a beautiful ocean front Malibu home which we rented for a week so I decided to elevate the event by serving my guests a plated dinner. Isaiah didn't flinch when I told him about the venue change and he was very willing to coordinate a time for a walk through at the new venue. Our previous venue he has worked at numerous times. He is also very honest and will tell what works or doesn't work in a nice way. LA Roots provides a large menu of appetizers, sides and entree options for you to create your wedding menu; however, I appreciated that I was able to tweak a dish without push back. I am not a fan of curry so Isaiah changed the curry couscous to a lemon with red peppers couscous (it ended up tasted amazing). LA Roots catered our outdoor wedding in Agoura Hills in August 2018, and they were easily one of the highlights of our wedding. What we loved about what they offered is that everything was a unique spin on a classic, with great combinations of spices, sauces; you can tell they have creative fun with what they serve. LA Roots catered my recent micro-wedding and we couldn't be happier with their food and service. From the very beginning, they were willing to work with us in developing the menus that we wanted and make little tweaks and changes. Everyone raved about our Italian salad - who typically remembers a wedding salad? - and our fried sage and mushroom pasta course, which was the absolute hit of the night. Our chicken, beef, and fish entrees were also delicious, and the bread and butter were plentiful. We also had LA Roots do drop-and-go sandwich and salad boxes for the day of the wedding, as well as brunch the next day.
