La Rosa is my favorite pizzeria in town. It has a special place in my heart because it was the first pizzeria I've been to since I moved to New Jersey from New York in 4th grade. I would often go with my dad to their old location (which was literally a short walk away) that was destroyed in a fire. But it makes me so happy that they got the fresh start that they deserved at their new spot. Service is ok - not everyone on staff are the friendliest people, even when it's not busy at all. The owner is really friendly though, and strikes up conversation whenever he sees my dad. The pizza is not the best I've tried, but it's pretty darn delicious, especially when it's hot out of the brick oven. The garlic knots are A+ too. La Rosa is medium-sized, charming, and cozy and a great place to come to with friends, family, or by yourself. read more

I meant to write this in November but La Rosa's catering was a HIT at my son's birthday party! We ordered one of their hot entree deals and the food was amazing and they had the best prices in town. I was nervous as I come from an Italian family of foodies and everyone was so impressed. Delivery was right on time, quick, and efficient that the food was set up and the delivery guy out the door without disrupting the party atmosphere or getting in the way. The pizza was amazing, reminded me of NY pizza to be honest. Crispy crust, great sauce to cheese ratio and the toppings were seasoned just right (we had pepperoni and sausage). I had the fettuccini Alfredo with chicken and broccoli which was tasty. My wife had the penne vodka with chicken that she liked also. The pasta portions were very huge to say the least, we had enough to take home and could've probably just shared one of the entrees between the two of us. The garlic knots were good too, and they even provide you with sauce to dip them in. Their complimentary bread was baked fresh, and had toasted garlic on top. The only thing that I wasn't feeling was the side salad. Maybe it was the Caesar dressing I had with mine, bland would be a compliment, and my wife had the lite Italian which she said was basic but had no complaints. Lastly, the biggest surprise of the evening, the BUFFALO WINGS! They were big and still crunchy! Nice amount of spice (not overwhelming) and flavor; and good blue cheese too, not too chunky or watered down either, it was just right! Not all pizzerias get this right, and some offer very small wings, so I was quite surprised and impressed with their buffalo wings. The service wasn't bad either; they were polite, courteous and handled anything we asked for. Would I return, absolutely..would I recommend this place to someone, sure would! Pizza is the best in the area without a doubt! I just have to say if you ever order for pick up just don't wait too long to get there because whatever time they say (usually the default 30-40 mins) it is off by 25 mins! Your pizza will be sitting there cold. Happened to me on more than one occasion. Also feel past year or so they rush the pizza when you order it for pick up so you don't get that classic (been getting pizza from LaRosa for almost 20 years!) LaRosa THIN well done crust. I came here with friends in a large party that included four kids. They did a great job of seating us quickly and taking our orders. The grandma pie the grownups split was excellent and all four kids enjoyed their food. The only thing that would have made it better was if they served beer and wine, but it's hardly fair to dock them for the absurdity of New Jersey's liquor laws. read more

This was our first time here. We were in the area and it was late and we were hungry so we found it on yelp. Overall we were very happy. Very friendly service. The bruschetta was different from others we have had before, swimming in balsamic, but SO delicious. The only suggestion is that 12 thin slices of bread would have been better than 6 really thick ones. The bread to tomato ratio wasn't working . The salads were generous and fresh. My daughter's baked ziti was a huge portion and yummy. My husband and I had eggplant parmigiana. Again, generous portions but could have used more sauce and cheese. (Extra sauce was provided when requested at no charge) The eggplant did have a slight "previously frozen" taste but with more sauce it was remedied. Had a sausage parm sandwich for lunch the other day. Good sausage, sliced longways down the length of the sandwich, with sauce and cheese. This was laid inside very crunchy, toasted Italian bread. Good sandwich. Half was plenty for a lunch portion. read more

My boyfriend and I were pleasantly surprised and happy with our experience! We went here as more of a plan b, but we were not at all disappointed. It is small inside but is decorated very nicely with friendly staff to match. I ordered the eggplant parm and my boyfriend ordered the pasta with vodka sauce with fried chicken. Both portions were a very generous size and the price was extremely reasonable! Both sauces were super good! The chicken was crispy and eggplant obviously fresh. The delivery took almost 2 hours, which the girl would say would take over an hour. So not too bad. But the pizza was delivered cold. The delivery boy was pleasant and respectful. Last night, after a full day of craving shellfish, I walked into La Rosa and ordered a seafood fra diavlo. For those who aren't in the know, fra diavlo sauce is usually pretty hot. ( Just the way I like it ) I asked for it extra spicy. Seventeen dollars later, I was served with a gigantic portion of mussels, calamari, shrimp and penne. I'm definitely going to have this for leftovers for at least two days. I would say that I wasn't super impressed with my meal, but it was quite satisfying. My extra-spicy sauce wasn't as spicy as I wanted, in fact, not spicy at all. I felt like there wasn't enough sauce on the dish either, some penne was completely beige. The seafood was cooked well, and there was a ton of chewy calamari. I wouldn't say I'd run back to eat here again, but its an option if you're looking for big portions and decent food. read more

The waitress Allie (May have misspelled, sorry) was the best waitress I've had in a very long time, if ever. She is polIte, smiles, had everything brought out timely while waiting 6+ tables with no hiccups, knowledgeable on the products offered, brought out a container for the sauce for the garlic knots we ordered without asking (and we would've asked when we realized we forgot), kept busy, and overall she provided really great customer service. The food is delicious and well presented. There was no shortage of sauce; Alfredo for penne, sauce for lasagna, and sauce for garlic knots. The pricing is fantastic! Very well priced. Again my girls love this place so I noticed 2 tables to the left of me empty - I kindly asked can we sit there & I was told not really ... again I was like WHAT THE F...I left went to Tony's where it's consistent and the waitress is always pleasant!!! Visit 6 - last & worst - waitress gave us extremely wet & dirty dishes for our appetizers , appetizers came out with our entrees! By far the worse customer service! My coworkers and I placed an order and was informed it would be 45 minutes for delivery. we received our order over an hour late. Therefore the quality of the food was terrible. Our food was cold, the noddles were hard as rocks and I also received items on my food that were specifically requested to be removed due to allergy concerns. When calling the establishment to inform them about the food concerns we had, we received immediate attitude and insensitivity their mistakes. We had already paid for the meal and the delivery driver had left the facility. The establishment was not willing to provide us with a new order nor return our money. Having never been here before, we ordered at the counter and ate in house which put us in a weird situation because the "waitress" delivered our food and never checked in or asked if we were ok. Figured it was like a sub shop where you order and take care of yourself but it wasn't explained to us and seeing waitress attend to everyone else and be so blatantly ignored was strange. Would have been happy to have left a cash tip had that been the reason for the neglect... Anyway food was nothing special. My friend had a pizza equal to or less delicious than every other townie pizza place in America. I got a large pasta fagioli (which was admittedly HUGE) that was pretty bland and nothing I'd ever go back for or think about again. Also, employees all wear neat teeshirts, my last name is LaRosa and I asked them if they sold them because my dad and grandfather would love them + free advertising for them (this is something not uncommon for restaurants to do) and the girl at the counter seemed baffled that I'd ask her that and told me they didn't. La Rosa's Pizza has been in town for years! It once lived about 100 yards across the street before it suffered an unfortunate accident and a fire brought it to the new location. The old place was small and the seating was not much to be desired. That old none moving bench seat and table combo that would not like you after half an hour. Food was amazing and mostly take out. Now if the new more restaurant friends environment with individual seating, tables that can accommodate large and small partiers. They have a Monday night pasta night for under $10.00. A fixed menu that serves you portions that could not be finished at one sitting. I like things spicy hot and one thing I do have to say is that they can never make it spicy hot enough. I guess few places can cater to us but knowing that from the start helps out. It is a BYOB and that is always a plus. Forgot to bring your spirits with you, no worries the liquor store in only a block away. I must warn you, Mondays is not that quite night you think a restaurant would have. Standing room waiting for a table kind of place and want to leave but the wait is worth it. Not saying the food is out of this world or the place it like no other. Just a good place with good food. Outside appearance very attractive at fairly new eatery section in Metuchen. My husband and I stopped by the new LaRosa Pizzeria Friday night after our son's school game. Place was very tight & patron tables so close together that you can bump a stranger's arm while you're eating. Pizza was greasy & crust was soggy. $13 for plain large pie. Ordered 2 waters w lemons, waitress brings 2 waters w only one lemon on a cup. One waitress serving all tables gave us paper plates at dine-In then said " we don't have many plates left" ( new eatery). The pie was brought to us on tray without serving spatula. All other patrons had serving spatulas on their trays. Waitress was friendly but, dining service very poor and disappointing. Our first& last visit. read more

Can't speak of the pizza as I've never tried it here before but the shrimp scampi and baked lasagna dinner entrees I just had delivered were great! The delivery was fast and my food came super hot and delicious. My only complaint is that the order taker wouldn't substitute the mussels marinara with a white sauce instead which left me to order the shrimp scampi which could have used a tad less lemon. La Rosa is our favorite place locally to get pizza. I love their chicken parm pizza, and my husband loves their white pizza. Their crust is awesome. I'm also a big fan of their lasagna.
