This is my favorite pizzeria to go to whenever I'm in the area! The food is always fresh and absolutely delicious. The staff is very friendly and welcoming, and the place is always clean which makes the experience even better. Updated review from two years ago, I tried the a margarita pizza yesterday after taking a sabbatical. I am lowering my rating because the pizza crust isn't the same. Please note that you may like this type of "thin crust". The bottom of the crust felt and tasted like maybe it's over coated with cornmeal; the texture felt gritty crunchy. This would work if anyone prefers this texture. The sauce just tasted like it was freshly ladled over (no oven baked in flavor). The topping left very little space for the crust edge. I am still stuck on how unfamiliar the crust texture was. I am used to thin crust texture from raised bread dough not a corn-meal like feel. Another reviewer was also baffled with the crust. Reheat review: unfortunately, was not convincing to nudge up the rating. From tip to mid way of the slice, the structure was floppy. From mid way to the edge of the slice: structure held up. Flavor was still good, maybe now better tasting bc sauce now tasted baked in because of the re heating. Service was on time. read more

Brooklyn Boys is my favorite pizza place of all time! I drive from Virginia to eat there and pack up a few pies to bring back home. I have family members that aren't partial to pizza, but they try to fight me for the last piece of a Brooklyn Boys pie. If I'm visiting NYC, I stop here first for good pizza. The crust, cheese, and sauce-on-top is what makes this pizza the best. I've never had a pizza crust like this, and I love how crisp it is. I usually have to ask for pizza "well done" at other places, but never here. I love the taste of the sauce (not too herby or too sweet) and that it's put on top of the cheese. The cheese is the perfect texture, has a great taste, and always comes out nicely browned. The interior of the restaurant is small and seems more geared towards lunchtime diners grabbing a slice, but there are at least 2 tables that sit 4. There's also a few tables outside. They don't sell any alcohol but I can forgive that. It can feel a little off when you walk in (usually no one greets you and it's quiet like a library) but it's not a big deal. On my last visit, the entry door was propped open so it was pretty hot and humid inside. Of course, this didn't stop the pizza from being the best. I am eagerly anticipating my next visit to Brooklyn Boys pizza. I wonder how many pies I can fit in the car next time. read more

I hate to say it but I didn't love Brooklyn Boys. If we are talking service- they were great. The person who took the order over the phone was patient, the girl who gave us our food and checked us out was friendly and offered us plates and seasonings. Two of my friends were in from out of state and of course, when in Jersey you have to get PIZZA! I'm not unfamiliar with this area but all my favorite pizzerias are at least 15 mins away, so I wanted to get them something closer to their hotel. I saw the good rating and heard from a friend that it was good so I landed on Brooklyn Boys. We order garlic knots, white pizza, & vodka margherita. The garlic knots were so dry they were stored in a pizza box. I felt these were more like garlic dinner rolls. The garlic knots I know are soaked in a buttery garlicky oil, these weren't that. The white pizza was good but again, a bit dry. I would have liked more ricotta all over under the mozzarella. It also just didn't have much oil, which I understand is a preference. I know some people who blot their pizza to get some grease off, I'm not one of those people. In fact, I once went to a pizzeria where they give you flavored oil with your pizza to enhance it, those are my people. I saved the best for last- the vodka margherita. The vodka sauce had a good flavor and there was a good amount, the fresh mozzarella paired nicely. Overall, I didn't feel like this was a good representation of Jersey pizza, or Brooklyn for that matter. For what it's worth my guests thought it was generally tasty and were happy, they said it was better than what they had in their respective states, although they too were very disappointed with the dinner rolls, ahem, "garlic knots". read more

I wanted to grab some pizza after landing in Newark on my way to stone harbor. My daughter's name is Brooklyn so I'm always drawn to businesses with the name in it and it seems to never disappoint. Today I had the shrimp parm and boy was it MAJIC! The shrimp were meaty, pause and in heavy abundance!! Perfect amount of cheese, like it wasn't overwhelming but it was like a commercial that when I pulled away for a bite I had a loooooong cheese string with each bite . Ordered the Chicken cheesesteak with no mushrooms and peppers. I repeated to add extra cheese (twice) which is not in my receipt. Reconfirmed with my daughter that ordered "The Lucky Seven Sub." which she confirmed I did say it. Anyhow, the quality of the sub my chicken cheesesteak was nothing like Philadelphia chicken cheesesteak. Taste was bland had to add salt and pepper to give it flavoring. As for my daughters sub (Lucky Seven) it comes with grilled chicken. I've never seen grilled chicken so difficult when she bit into it. It was like fake grilled chicken not the real chicken it was like school cafeteria cheap chicken. A piece of frozen chicken defrosted in the microwave. Was hoping it would be chicken when you bite into it just melts in your mouth. Not the case for this place. Dining area was very clean bathroom needed cleaning. I went there and it looked nasty. For the price I paid for lunch and this is lunch no specials you are being charged extra if using your credit card, If you do not use cash on top of that I tipped. I don't understand why this place is rated so highly. We walked in at 7pm and they had barely any slices left. No Sicilian slices left, for a "Brooklyn" pizzeria makes no sense. To make it even worse, I found a hair in my order, which is completely unacceptable. When I brought this up, the manager was incredibly rude, dismissive, and refused to take any responsibility whatsoever. No apology, no replacement, no refund--just attitude. Brooklyn Boys was at one point amazing! Delicious food for a good price, friendly employees, and quick service. It seems that ownership changed recently and quality dipped for a bit, but they're figuring things out and it seems they're getting back on track. The pizza is thin crust and the slices are really big. They usually have 8 to 10 pies worth of options and within a few minutes you'd be on your way if you were getting takeout. But their best offering, IMO, is their premade lunch sandwich specials. Depending on what time you arrived they'd have 5 or 10 options to choose from, like eggplant parm, chicken po'boy or Caprese. It used to be you'd get a very generous side salad (Greek, macaroni or potato) for free, now it's a $1 upcharge. By premade, I don't mean they're sitting overnight wrapped in plastic, they make them same day. They're all really good and filling. The food is really good here. The customer service though...lacks. The cashier was kinda staring into space and only waited on customers who came up to her, and there was another young woman who snapped at a customer who was asking about a takeout order. I waited about 15 minutes for a sandwich that didn't need to be made. It's good, just keep your patience when ordering. read more

Just checked out Brooklyn Boys during lunch break at my daughter's lunch break at a nearby dance competition. I had done the same thing while in town 3 years ago. I can say, they are bringing deliciousness and consistency. I had the plain slice, Buffalo chicken slice, and pesto pepperoni slice. The plain and Buffalo were thin crust and the pesto pepperoni was a thicker crust. They were all wonderful. The Buffalo provided a gentle heat that was really nice with the tender chicken. Tomato quality on the plain is excellent. The thicker pesto and pepperoni really worked for me flavor wise. I can see why they recently celebrated their 10 year anniversary. Very good! read more

I am disappointed today with the customer service though- the customer service we received was an example of how your front desk can tank your whole business . I suggested this place for Father's Day for us to enjoy lunch after a morning of cricket and the woman did not offer us a menu when we wanted to be seated , plates, cups of water. I was so internally disgusted that I opted to go outside . A woman and her family came in after us and she was pregnant and was wiping her own table down! Unacceptable. Brooklyn Boys deserves all the praise. Their pizza is some of the best I've had in Middlesex County. I stopped in for a quick bite to eat in the middle of my workday and I was impressed by the selection of different specialty slices available at the counter. Everything looked so good, it was difficult to settle on which slices to try. I decided to go with the standard plain slice, a Margherita slice, and a slice with vodka sauce. The plain slice had a perfectly thin, crispy base with a bready, delicious crust. The sauce was fresh and flavorful. The cheese was tasty and pleasantly browned. The Margherita slice was truly amazing. It featured a light, inviting sauce, fresh basil, and excellent, gooey mozzarella cheese. The slice also had a great crunch! The sauce on the vodka slice is TO DIE FOR. Marvelously creamy, cheesy goodness. I could eat an entire pie of this myself. Living in Kentucky (apologies) overall pizza is not their thing. So being on the East Coast for a convention, we sought good local pizza. Brooklyn Brothers was a good, tasty pie. The sauce and toppings were delicious and the crust was crisp. I'm more of a crisp/chewy person myself but this one still worked! We ordered takeout and although the place was jamming, the staff was quick. Easily the best pizza in Edison. Tomato pies are typically a Trenton thing but Brooklyn Boys does it pretty well. I've tried many pizza places in Edison and Brooklyn Boys has the best sauce, crust and they are moderately priced. I highly recommend their pizza. read more
