Ok their pupusas are pretty good. I got the revuelta and a cheese with mushrooms, and surprisingly, the cheese and mushrooms were my favorite. The cheesy has a nice cheese pull to it, and the mushrooms were cooked nice. The revuelta was ok. I found the filling to be ok. However, the curtido added on top with the salsa was good, and the guy gave us some hot sauce. It's a win for me lol The pupusas are a good size, about the size of palm. The horchata was a miss to me. I think it was Salvadoreña Horchata because it didn't taste anything like the horchata I'm used to. It had a chocomil taste to it. So, caution in it. This place is large Inside! Large on friendliness and seating! I was warmly greeted, and decided to dine in. Ice cold water to quench this heat wave we are having, was greatly appreciated. I watched the fútbol, while browsing the menu. With 3 screens, almost anywhere is a good seat. Browsing the menu, pupusa's are the show stopper, but I was craving a torta. The house recommended to start with a bean and cheese pupusa. And then went back and gathered salsa and curtido, seasoned cabbage. The pairing was delightful, and really could make a meal out of one pupusa easily. That is not ketchup in the bottle, but a very well blended tomato salsa, that was refreshing. As a glutton for punishment, I really should of taken the torta home... So beautiful on the plate, I could not bear to leave it to get cold. I am happy I strived on, the asada was cohpped and melted together in cheese, fresh beans and even fresher lettuce, onions and tomatoes accompanied. The steak fries were huge, but perfectly cooked. I actually ended up dipping them in the provided house hot sauce. Mmm the light burn.... There is ample parking around the location, and even has a drive through, but I would recommend that for a pre order pickup. I was underwhelmed. I had this great expectations of delicious stuffed pupusas.... the ratio of masa to stuffing was way off...to much masa in each bite...the meats are barely anything. I ordered 1 frijoles/cheese 1 bacon, jalapeno and cheese 1 chicken 2 asada Horchata I could not tell which was which... they were all in the same box... luckily it was just my husband and I sharing... we could not tell by taste which one was which..they all tasted the same... masa and cheese.. I did recognize the bacon, jalapeno and cheese..only because it had the tiniest minuscule bacon bits in it... and also the bean one....but other than that... I could not tell the difference... out of all of them-- I liked the bean one the best..but they really need to work on the ratio for the masa and stuffing. They need more of the filling in order for it to taste better. The curtido was good. Horchata left more to be desired..not sweet and tasted like a powder instant drink. First time coming in to this restaurant and my family and I enjoyed it. The waitress was so sweet and very helpful. I asked what there fruta fresca was it's a drink. The best way she described it was a punch. She brought me a sample and it was delicious sweet but refreshing. The food was good. Curtido tasted a little old, and the chicharron on the pupusas tasted like it was mixed with carne asada. It's been 5 days and we are still sick with diarrhea. I'm sorry I'm being so honest but I can tell you every where else I've had pupusas sells them under $4 and I've never complained so I wonder is this place is price gouging? I visited La Santaneca Pupuseria in Modesto after I stopped by a different Pupuseria in Riverbank. The other one was closing their restaurant :( So I looked on yelp and found another Pupuseria. The tamales were alright. The pupusas here are just okay. I tried the $1.25 special pupusas and the regular larger pupusas. I think I've enjoyed the ones from the Modesto Farmer's Market more than La Santaneca because the filling is more substantial and the masa seems fresher. I also had the yucca frita con chicharron. La Santaneca May offer the best pupusas I've had in the area thus far. That said, I also haven't extensively explored local Salvadorian cuisine. Atmosphere is very casual, relaxed, and hole-in-the-wall-esque. I almost always order pupusas when I go to Salvadorian restaurants so that is typically my main criteria in assessing their food. My favorite pupusa is the revuelta, which consists of beans, chicharrón, and cheese. You can't ever go wrong with good old cheese pupusas, which are also quite yummy here. They have many different variations for just about anyone ranging from vegetarian to meat-centric. My only complaints are that the pupusas vary from slightly crispy to soft and airy. I'm big on consistency and there have been times where the pupusas are also more doughy than usual which takes away from the flavor and integrity of the pupusa. These are small things and don't happen often so don't be deterred to coming by. Please, do not forget to order a large Salvadorian style horchata as well! All considered, I look forward to trying other items on their menu to familiarize myself with Salvadorian cuisine. Cheers and happy eating! read more

Delivery was lightning fast (I think the restaurant owners dash it themselves). Inexpensive. I placed my order through DoorDash and I received a call immediately from the restaurant letting me know that the item selections were incorrect in DoorDash and they were very friendly about making sure I got what I wanted. We had heard that it was under new ownership and since the Pupuseria in Riverbank that we really liked is now closed, we decided to give this place another chance. I am glad we did.
