the first impression wasn't a good one, as I was greeted by a red-haired woman with a bad attitude. as soon as I walked in the door with my family. Took my wife and my baby for lunch and she barely wanted to help us. We asked for water and she just rolled her eyes as if we were a nuisance. we ate a bandeja paisa (17.99) and a pechuga a la plancha (18.99) and it was not bad. i was a bit disappointed that it didn't come with potatoes instead of fries but it got the job done. It was only two tables at the rest being used. the other table was checked on 5 times our server didn't check on us but once at the end of our meal to take our plates. So I ordered from this location on Uber eats and one thing I will say is they pay attention to order notes and substitutions as that is very very important to me. They don't have a tomatoe option on Uber eats app I left a note the subbed one of my avocado orders which I requested if necessary. The food was really good and flavor the only complain I had was the steak on the bandeja paisa was like paper thin the carne asada isn't far off but it had a little more going on. Other than that they're very generous with the avocado and tomatoes I mean you get a whole one for $4.50 an order but hey I'm not complaining . Definitely will try this place again read more

Staff is always friendly. I enjoy the bandeja paisa and is always tasty. My kid enjoys the rice and beans with arepa. We also really like the beef empanadas. A co-worker, who is Colombian, suggested this pace, as he has been here before. Never really notice this little house off to the side of the road and when I drove up, I mistook it for a misplaced house. Inside, this place looks like a house where the patio has been added and converted into a restaurant. Not bad. AS an FYI, be aware that they do have a television and it is tuned in to the Colombian news channel. There is an older guy who came out and took our order. He seemed as if he could be the owner and he spoke very little English...he was also wearing shorts, which tells you how laid back this place is. I ordered lemonade, which - when it actually came out - was "llime-n-aid." It was totally made with limes.We got an order of empanadas that contained a mixture of potatoes, ground beef, onions, and other seasonings. They came in a order of four and were very good. I had to order two more for just me. LOL. For my main course I ordered Carne Asada, which is flank steak. It came with a small beet salad, which wasn't on the menu (that I recall) and it was dripping all over the plate. I hate beets and I have beet juice even more! I got it off of my plate and noticed that the meet was quite dry, not to mention it had no taste at all. Our friend suggested we meet here for dinner and what a pleasant surprise to find another Colombian restaurant in our neck of the woods. It's a small, quaint restaurant with outdoor seating; the only issue I had with sitting inside was that they did not have the A/C on cool, and it was humid. I had to ask the waitress to turn on the ceiling fans to get some air circulating in the room. Their menu had a simple selection of the main Colombian plates on one side - empanadas, arrepas, bandeja paisa, carne asada, and lengua en salsa - and a slew of juices and smoothies on the other. For a drink I highly recommend their homemade lemonade - absolutely delicious! Their empanadas are fresh, hot, and crunchy - just the way I like them. If you are a fan of chorizo and order the bandeja paisa, I suggest ordering an extra chorizo because they only give you a a small portion of one. it also has a spicy kick to it too. Their aji picante "hot sauce" is absolutely the best I have ever had. The only negative I could find about my experience is that the waitress who took our order does not speak English. The rice and beans here are life changing! Only in Colombia can such a humble pairing as rice and beans taste like something you'd pay big bucks for.... but La Sazon Colombiana---here in Houston---gets it right! Like another reviewer said, the beans taste like Colombian beans. La Bandeja Paisa is perfect if you want to sample a bit of everything and desire to try the national dish of Colombia. You will get a big platter of rice and beans, chicharron, chorizo, steak, avocado, plantain, a fried egg, and an arepa. It's a delicious, filling conglomeration of food. If you're not in the mood for the Bandeja Paisa, everything else at this restaurant is tasty. The fried yucca is perfect... it's not the mushy, pasty frozen kind you can find at other restaurants around Houston. The cooks at this restaurant use fresh yucca. My favorite thing to order when I'm not in the mood for rice and beans are their stuffed arepas. They offer arepas stuffed with cheese and your choice of chicharron, beef, or chicken. I placed a to go order and waited one hour and 10 minutes for my food, watched a couple come in and demás they be seated in front of the big screen where a family of 8 were seated and moved by staff for no reason other then the please the couple because they were friends of the girl in charge. It was a horrible sight to see and not good customer service what so ever! As i paid for my cold food missing items because they have trouble communicating and fighting with one another the lady tells me if I wait another 10 minutes they can make the last dish missing... yea no thanks. My family and I were in the mood for trying unfamiliar foods this morning and we were lucky enough to come across this gem! It's a small house off of 249 so it's easy to miss. I'm not sure the staff speaks English so just a heads up. We all ordered breakfast plates, there are only three in the menu, but all left satisfied. The eggs specifically, with tomatoes and onions, were to die for. Couldn't get enough of them. Fried plantains with rice and beans never disappoint either. Worst Colombian food I have ever had. I ordered los patacones con carne y hogao and the plate came out with patacones dredged in a pale sauce that looked more like an American gravy than hogao. I took a bite and couldn't do more so when I got up to pay, the waitress (who was very kind) asked me what was wrong and offered to substitute the meal for something else. She brought me an arepa con carne y queso, because I thought this would be simple enough, and realized I was wrong. The arepa was soft and had clearly been reheatedin a microwave (not even an oven or pan, because it had absolutely no firmness or crunch) with a slab of melted cheese (that did not taste like the yummy salty cheese you usually put in arepa) and tasteless meat. I couldn't eat it, and felt bad so I shoved half of it in my purse before paying and leaving. The empanada de carne I had for an appetizer was the only edible thing, but that too was dissapointing. It had been shoved with ton of potatoes and very little meat. Was honestly the worst Colombian restaurant I've been to and one of the worst Latin restaurants in general. read more

I used to come here often, mostly for the fruit salad that was to die for, but it seems they stopped offering it because every time I go there they never have it, but fine! I like their food but we went today with my family and even though the service was good the food was not. A bandeja paisa that was more rice and beans than anything else and a tiny piece of steak, like extremely tiny!!! It was half of the size of my palm. The agua de panela con limón was water with sugar, awful!!!! The lemon was no where in that drink!!! The food has decreased in quality and the portions are way smaller and the prices went up. In top of that they reduce the menu items. I think this would be the last time I come here, but is very sad to see a once good place becoming an awful one! read more

This was a great discovery for us today. I found La Sazon Colombiana by chance some days ago and we decided to give it a try, We are originally from Colombia, and so we miss some of our native foods flavors. We were so happy for this find, that I decided to write this review. My father had the Sancocho de Cola, which is a rich soup with yucca, potato, and tail... mmm I don't know if this is a good description, but the taste is terrific. My mom had the arepa con queso and the patacon con carne y hogao (this last one is some seasoned meat and onions over a big fried plantain)... delicious. I had the most typical Bandeja Paisa, which is served with rice, beans, beef, fried plantain, pork rind, sausage, and egg... (yeah, I know, lots of protein... ) For drinks we had some of the fruit juices that we miss the most. Guanabana, Mora, and Lulo. (The lulo didn't taste as we expected... but the other two were fine... maybe I should recommend Maracuya (passion fruit) better. That's it... that's all that we had, but I am looking forward to go there one day in the afternoon, not for lunch but for their fruit options, such as Ensalada de frutas (fruit salad "enriched" with crea, cheese, ice cream and home-made jelly), Fresas con Crema or Cholado. This is a small restaurant, not fancy at all, but it remind us also of the Fondas Antioquenas that you can see on the way out of many towns in Colombia. The prices are reasonable.
