I hate that I have to write this review so I'll get straight to the point. THEY WILL NOT PAY US THE REFERRAL FEE WE ARE OWED. They are flat out refusing. We referred our neighbor, our neighbor bought solar from them, their solar is up and running and LA SOLAR GROUP refuses to give us our fee for $501. On top of that they have absolutely no reason why they won't. They first tried to say that they weren't profitable, WTF does that mean. My husband has called them several times and very calmly has asked for the referral fee we were told we'd get. THEY ARE LIARS and they only want your business. This update is for the amazing response from LA Solar today. Greg and then David called back, and technician John was sent out right away. John was so kind to figure out what was wrong and explained everything as he went. It seems we will be getting our inverter replaced under warranty. For those who decide to get a solar system in the future, ask for a 25 year warranty. Ours was only 10 years and we barely made it under the 10 year window for the inverter. And SMA (LA Solar doesn't work with them anymore) says the new inverter's warranty is the same as the old one is not extended even though it's a new inverter. Very sketchy and explains why LA Solar doesn't install SMA systems anymore. But it is great that LA Solar is still helping us to work with SMA to resolve this inverter issue. read more

As a current customer, I am disappointed at the slow and unresponsive customer support. I'm hoping this review catches someone's attention. My system was installed and complete in October/November and has been generating power since but LADWP sent me a correction bill for the last 4 months. LADWP confirmed they hadn't received power from my system until just last month and it's now May. I reached out to LA Solar over the phone, email, text but no luck so far. We moved to a home where the solar had already been purchased. Because we were not the ones there when it was set up we needed help understanding how our system works and how we can monitor it. LA Solar helped us coordinate the handoff from the previous owner to us and set up multiple calls to learn more over the phone, plus they came in person very quickly to replace one part of the device. The technician who came out was on time, friendly and courteous (he took off his shoes before coming in which we appreciated), and explained everything he was doing in an easy to follow manner. The account manager, Melanie, was very friendly for our phone calls and readily available. I can't speak to the original installation, but our experience was better than we expected. read more

And now they won't leave me alone I clearly told them I do not want to use them for the new roof, but they won't stop calling me, emailing me, texting me. I told them to leave me alone. We installed our system back in 2021 and we're loving the system, as we haven't had to pay for electricity since...we recently had an issue with our inverter, which I never would have known was not working and LA Solar Group contacted me about it and said they would send out a new replacement...the part came within a few days and they had a technician in our area and they came to replace it and we're back to normal, producing electricity. Ara assigned Albert in sales to help facilitate my purchase of 2 Panasanoic Evervolt Panels to add to my existing 17 panel system installed in July 2019, which really made my day! Albert replied to all my questions, which was really great! Even though their previous sales person had told me I had to purchase LA Solar Black on Black brand panels, they made it possible for me to add on Panasonic, which matches my existing SolarEdge / Panasonic panel system. I was contacted then by Jasmine to help schedule the installation (Jasmine is super helpful and very responsive, btw!). Working with Albert and Jasmine, I noticed the significantly improved communication, coordination, and process, which I highly appreciate and value as a customer. Today, Herbert and Chris came to install the 2 add on panels which took a bit more time than expected since the racking system is different from what they use for LA Solar brand panels. However, they were able to resolve that. The only issue now which they could not finish in today's visit (due to time) is having their team return to resolve my cellular connectivity which is down again, and needs to be replaced by an Ethernet connection, something I had requested 1 year ago when the 3G network went down in June 2022, but they had installed a new cellular kit instead. So in order to see my network online or on the app, the celluluar connectivity has to be restored. read more

LA Solar did an amazing job at our home. Replaced old electrical panel, installed a new solar system generating almost 60kWh of power each day. The teams that worked on our home were very professional, cleaned up after themselves, and did very clean work overall. They did the entire job from A to Z including replacing the roof, replacing an old panel from the 50s, and the wall patching needed for that in around 4 weeks. Including LADWP permitting. Very impressed with their work and my new electric bill. read more

Updated TLDR; Seems that LASG will honor their warranties but you have to definitely be persistent. Their roofing team and interior repair teams made it out to my house and got everything fixed up. It's scheduled to rain next week, so we'll see how everything holds. Bumping the review to 4 star instead of 5 because it shouldn't be this hard to get work done. TLDR; take the roof warranty with a huge grain of salt, getting LASG to take any action on it will be like pulling teeth! Welp, I have another review update unfortunately. We ended up with a leak under our panels. I opened a case on 8/20/23 and I was able to send photos of the damage on 8/27/23 Here we are 10/25/23, two months later and there is no resolution on the issue. LASG sent out a third party to do an inspection on 9/8/23, the third party was on time and responsive. They said they would get the report back to LASG the same day (and I had no reason to doubt them) Finally, 10 days later on 9/18/23 (after emailing countless times asking for updates since 8/27/23) I got the roof leak report that said it was inconclusive, great. So now I've been waiting for LASG to send out a tech to remove the panels and take a closer look. For the sake of the warranty I have not touched the panels using any third party. LASG said they'd be at my house on 10/19/23 - no show Again on 10/20/23 - no show Again on 10/31/23 - no show 11/1/23 - Roofer finally showed up and patched the roof, we'll see in the next rain if it holds 11/7/23 - Interior repair team showed up, on time and as planned. This is getting ridiculous and I'm really starting to question the value of the warranty that was pushed oh so hard when the sales person was here. I really hope we can get this resolved before the rainy season starts or I'll have to take matters into my own hands. LASG your communication is a joke, I shouldn't have to email every other day to keep the process moving and to get updates. read more

If I could leave a zero for this solar company I would. They have the most horrible customer service. I got my soles installed back in July 2023. It's been over a year and my electricity bill remains the same. I've complained to la Solar that my electricity consumption has not changed, the solars are not producing enough energy and I am stuck with this system that's not properly working. La solar fails to address any customer service complaints. The last response I got from them was to call DWP and have them change my rate to a "B" but they don't address the issue of the solars not producing enough energy. Do not bother with them. From the sales rep explaining the product, the process during installation and being permitted through our local energy company, and from any customer services issues. I had a minor discrepancy with something and they still accommodated me without hesitation. It was great customer service. My Envoy device went bad and I was in warranty for another one. My solar edge inverter failed 8/4 in the middle of the afternoon . Attempted to contact the installer Barnes Solar and to my surprise they went out of business. They were in the process of merging with LA Solar which did not transpire however LA Solar took over their clients (unfortunately labor was not included). LA Solar immediately saw my system down and had the replacement part ordered. My replacement inverter was installed on 8-20 by John who after picking his brain was a very knowledgeable and experienced technician. John recommended I educate myself in the panels to ensure what my warranty truely is regardless what was in contract 25 year warranty. I located the manufacturer after finding out that my panels are obsolete. I asked John about solar battery storage which he highly encouraged which I was already thinking about. That company is now in the midst of a BK and our panels are having issues and LA solar is acting like they did not sell us on that fact these panels are warranties for 25 years. I didn't buy this system from SunPower I bought it from LA solar. In fact we are still paying for the system. I would highly recommend to not use this company! read more

LA Solar installed my system in 2015 - they were super responsive, efficient, and professional. Recently most of my microinverters stopped reporting, so I contacted them yesterday. This morning Gurgen arrived and got to work troubleshooting the system. After a thorough check off all 8 panels, he was able to get all but 1 back working, and noted 1 or 2 others were not performing well. He indicated that they will follow up and replace either the inverters or the panels once they complete the final diagnosis. I really appreciated Gurgen's hard work toward resolving the problem. Final Update. Stay Away Exhausted all resources they do not have proper insurance bond to cover my cost if something goes wrong with roof. Worked with an Construction attorney and she said its not worth it go into litigation Please review your contract. When I asked them just reinstall the panels properly they asked for 5k. They just install and leave and take no responsibility even if they damaged my roof. Redoing my roof and cleaning out Black mold it caused took 12 month. I completely regret this decision. My solar panels had been installed by another company who have since been ghosting me. Unfortunately the permitting was not completed for the solar panels. This was not discovered until after LA Solar had agreed to install the whole house backup batteries. Thankfully LA Solar helped me to get the solar panels permitted and installed the batteries. Understandably, it took a little while to get things sorted out but they were there to help complete the project properly. Recently, I had more trouble with the panels and LA Solar was able to fit me into their busy schedule sooner than I had expected and fixed the problem without any drama. They are true professionals and not a fly-by-night company looking to make a quick buck. They stand by their work. It is hard these days to find a stable solar company. We started our process in March of '22. And finally received approval in November '22. Since then there has been little to no communication. They finally sent people out to install the panels and then nothing for another month. We informed LA Solar that no other equipment had been delivered, which they were surprised to hear. They showed up and mounted batteries in the garage we had built out specifically for the project and then nothing. (Btw, "build out" was done upon the recommendation of their electricians who suggested and approved the location in our garage.) Now another electrician arrived weeks later and installed the gateway in front of our house instead of the garage. Exactly, what we were trying to avoid and the reason for building out a portion of our garage in the first place. They also destroyed our aloe vera garden in the process.(I'm livid regarding my aloe.) I immediately contacted customer service and voiced my concerns. First I was told it was unsafe, to which I answered: That is not what the other electrician and our approved plans dictated. The answer then changed to "customer stated that the wires would be unsightly" , to which I responded with, "I was told the piping and wires would be hidden and painted, most likely underneath the awning, that was not an issue". After that, the reason then changed again, to "customer requested it moved", to which I responded, "Why would I build out my garage only to deface the front of my house?" We ask that they make things right, relocate the gateway and place it in the garage, per our agreement. They now say it will take 120ft of wiring and that we will have to pay to have it moved. Now, let's make this clear, the original plan was to place the gateway, etc, in the garage...now that an employee made a mistake, they want to charge us more money to do what they were supposed to do?! Our argument is the same: It was mounted in the wrong location, different from the approved plans and what we agreed upon and needs to be corrected. Their electrician took it upon himself to install the gateway, different from the approved plans. Either he disregarded the plans or did not familiarize himself with our project. Whatever the reason, it needs to be corrected. We are now going back and forth and at the moment see no end in sight. We had an appointment last week and no one showed up (not the only time). Hopefully we make some headway here, one in which LA Solar make things right? Now we are waiting for their response. Similar to the experience of others on yelp, it seems the lack of internal communication is causing problems. read more

After posting here on Yelp, a customer support manager reached out to me and scheduled some time to walk through the issues with me. We walked through the various issues one by one and she was able to find someone to come out and address all the issues. She moved promptly and the person who she found to review my system came out and was able to get it up and running pretty quickly. As a result of all this I did lost about 6-7 months of solar generation and she was able to give me a refund on what was estimated that I lost. So far the system has been up now about 1.5 months and seems to be operating pretty well. If anything changes I will update this review. Generally speaking it seems like LA Solar had a serious growth spurt and they were having trouble keeping up with the demand. It seems like they are taking steps to correct that. read more

1. Price = Grade "A" Best price compared to other solar installers I researched on Yelp - $10k (8 panels) for 5mWh with a 25 year warranty. I wanted the minimum electric bill for the rest of my life. Last 2 LADWP bills have been the minimum with $154 NEM bank deposit. I ended up needing these extra panels because I converted my garage into a living space. 2. Reliability = Grade "A" Been with LA Solar since October 2015. They have been responsive and have fixed all problems that I reported. So far they deserve a solid "A". 3. Customer Service a. Albert Ayvazyan (initial salesperson) was easy to communicate with - solid "A". b. Headquarters and the installation foreman should improve their communication with the customer. I texted HQ with the date and time for installation, but the Foreman did not call me ahead of time as I requested. HQ didn't give me the Foreman's number. It's important when you have to put away your guard dogs. I had to go outside and check 15 minutes after I expected them. I suggested that they put the installation date, time, and notes in a central project location where everyone (HQ, Foreman, Customer) can easily check. To be fair, this was the only hiccup after I got the Foreman's phone number, smooth thereafter. c. Be aware that all payment less $500 is due upon system installation, but not including completion. 3 days after 50% of the work is done, I get 60% of the bill. Completion of the work will be 7 days after. I ask HQ for the new foreman's phone number, but nobody answers my text for about 7 hours. I text that I'll pay the invoice when I see production in the app, then I get a phone call in less than 5 minutes to check my contract. They should have finished the 2 day job in 4 days max. In any case, after 6 weeks now, you can trust them. d. Also, I was told I needed an inspection before my monitoring account would be setup. But I ended up not getting/needing it after all. e. Lastly, Melanie Nersisyan saved the whole LA Solar experience. She setup my account and walked me through the monitoring process and features. Very responsive and easy to work with -- "A+" read more

One of my very good friends just got a new system by LA Solar. After reviewing various quotes, LA Solar was very comparable and fair in pricing. Besides the pricing, the decision was made to move forward with them since they had inventory of solar panels, Tesla Powerwalls, expertise and got the whole solar application process with PG&E as well as the local building department streamlined. Today David from LA Solar came to meet the county inspector regarding installation of an additional battery to my solar. County passed the installation as they always have because LA Solar has an excellent installation crew. Before David left he noticed that one of my other batteries was off line. I told David that the installation guys had noticed that and were going to try to solve the problem on line. Later in the day David returned to say he wanted to take another look at the off line battery. Later David told me that TESLA had declared the battery defective and would be sending a new one for LA Solar to install.. David was courteous, competent and effective. Very professional crew and all the work was done as promised! The work crew was clean and efficient, and we had no issues with inspection. We used them for a roof repair and then decided to do our full roof with them as well. Signed the contract on Sunday and we had our final inspection passed by Friday. Can't recommend them enough! My overall rating for LA Solar is 4.8 stars. Working with the LA Solar Group in general was a very good experience. The project design and working with the company's personnel was excellent. The project coordinator (Tom V) provided great assistance and swiftly responded to questions and concerns about delays encountered. Tom ensured that the company personnel were kept informed of my concerns about the process movement and helped to ensure the installation proceeded in a reasonable manner. The LA Solar onsite personnel involved in the initial site inspection, installation, and final inspection process were knowledgeable and displayed both company and consumer concern. They kept me well informed of the system work conducted and future activities. Their work ethic was extremely high and they should be commended for the work conducted. The time for to design the system, obtain necessary permits, complete installation, have the final inspection completed, and obtain the permit to operate (PTO) is significantly longer than the company initially estimates. Since I had already been through the nearly a four month process about 10 years previously, I knew that the short timelines of about one month that was initially presented could never be achieved. In general, the project moved as expected except for the time involved between obtaining a building permit and scheduling installation. A period of several weeks between issuing of the permit and starting installation was excessive and resulting in my questioning the delay. However, since the PTO from PG&E was received in a matter of days instead of the expected 3-6 weeks because the LA Solar solar project was considered to be an add-on to an existing solar system. Therefore, the resulting total time involved for completeion of the solar system was as expected even though a few unexpected delays were encountered. LA Solar is recommended as a very good company for a solar installation. However as with any company contracted, the speed of work completion should be monitored and questioned as needed. With coordination with a good company project coodinator, the system installation with be completed in a reasonable time. read more
