The atmosphere is very soothing and nice, the wait staff very friendly, attentive and professional. Every single thing I ate or sampled was a taste bud stimulant! Started with bread and a tomato sauce type dip. So good. I had a house salad, my daughter had a caprese - both so fresh and perfectly put together, she had penne salmon with cream sauce and I had chicken Marsala. Both were melt in your mouth delicious. Fabulous! The service was amazing and the food was delicious! We had a pork shank marsala special entree that our whole table shared, the meat actually fell off the bone. The sauce, pasta, and mushrooms in the dish were excellent. Our party got chicken marsala, butternut squash ravioli, pescatore risotto, bruschetta, peppered cream sauce pasta, pasta with a cream sauce, peas, and truffle oil, and linguini with mussels added and complimentary bread with tomato soup dipping sauce. It was all amazing! The peppered pasta was the most plain, but all the other dishes were rich and complex. The accompaniments were perfect for each entree. We took a slice of cheesecake home, which was nowhere near the size of the one the table next to us got for dine-in, but it tasted amazing. Wonderful and tasty experience. read more

My Italian Nonna is going through intense treatments for her lung cancer. We ordered $100 worth of food because she finally has an appetite. Only part of our order showed up, not including my Nonna's meal. I called the restaurant since our delivery driver clearly did not have the meal, I was with him, there were no remaining meals. The person on the phone was rude and abrasive, accusing us and saying it's not his fault. A little compassion and customer service goes a long way, even if you can't make it right. read more

The food in this restaurant hit so different. And in a good way! I was not ready for the little peppers that were inside the calamari. It appears they also deep fry pieces of jalapeño circles. If I had known it, it was, I probably would not have tried it. But OMG I'm so glad I did. Every dish I've had appears to be a spin off the original. The restaurant adds its own personal touch so it will not taste like anything you've had before. I had beef, ravioli and marsala wine. My husband had the seafood linguine. And we had to finish with tiramisu. I can't believe we fit it all in our stomachs, but it's so good you don't want to stop eating it. My favorite thing about the tiramisu was that it was a very light version of tiramisu and not heavy rich feeling. I feel like this thought of everything. Eating at this place was darn experience. Not the worst, but not good. Lack of attention to detail and inattentive. First, I personally don't like being addressed as "hey boss," Next, the lasagna bolognese was cold in the middle, not lukewarm, not room temperature, flat out cold. The ravioli was al dente but not offensive, the limoncello spritz was tainted by brown lemon leaving a less than satisfactory taste on the palette. Never got to a second cocktail because the server never asked or returned to check on our meal or needs. Overall dining area was clean which was a plus. When leaving the restaurant we walked by several staff who never acknowledged us nor seemed to care. I feel the food could be great, it needs more attention to detail, like using a thermometer when reheating food. read more

So, we decided to give this place a second try in mid-May and the service was a complete 180! The server was very friendly, he offered the daily specials and gave a few suggestions too. The table bread was fresh warm and crispy, our meals were all delivered hot and everyone loved their dishes. I got the Pappardelle Alla Jimmy Dynamic and it was excellent! We even got some tiramisu for dessert and it was fresh and creamy! Manager came by the table to check on us. We will be back for sure! read more

We went here yesterday to celebrate our anniversary. It was a very disappointing experience. We have been here in the past, and we're happy with the food and service. I should have known from the start of service that it wouldn't go well. I ordered an iced tea and they didn't have any, then I ordered pasta with broccoli rabe and sausage and they didn't have broccoli rabe. It was understandable at the time because we had just had a hurricane a week ago, and they probably didn't get their deliveries. They brought out bread and drinks quickly. Our appetizer came out pretty fast also. We ordered the arancini. It was OK, but nothing I would order again. It was doused in sauce. My husband ordered Veal ala Limon for his main course. The veal came, and it was so overcooked and chewy. You couldn't even cut it. It was inedible. They remade it, but it was not much better. My chicken was pretty disappointing also. I ordered chicken Marsala. It was slightly chewy and bland. Definitely not marsala wine in the dish. It was not easy to cut with a butter knife. Definitely not what we had hoped for. The only good part of the meal was the service and drinks, although service seemed to slip a bit after we had an issue with my husband's meal. The owner came by earlier in the evening before we had our meals to see if everything was good, but not after we had an issue with our meal. Little did we know that the restaurant had changed hands since we last visited. It was definitely not for the better. We will not be returning. I would rather have Olive Garden or Carrabas over this place, and I would have saved some money. The server took 20% off of my husband's meal, but I think they could have offered something more. Don't waste your time or money. I have posted a pick of the original veal that came out. They didn't even take it. They left it on the table. Let me also add that there was little to no lemon sauce on the plate either. Not that it would have helped. My husband had also told them that his knife was dirty and they never came to replace it. I love food! I love amazingly delicious food! Who knew I would find a fantastic Italian in DeBary. Chef Aldo is from Napoli and has been in this area for 5 months and prior to that he was in Miami. His English is still very broken but his cooking is out of this world! Everything we had was fresh. You could taste the fresh tomatoes that were used in the sauce. The greens were crisp; the light vinegar and oil over the salad allowed all the vegetables to stand out on their own. The charcuterie platter was delicious! The sweetness of the figs, the roasted red peppers, the fresh olives (notice the color), cheese and meats was presented beautifully and all worked together. The service was friendly and attentive. We actually ate three loaves of the bread! It was warm with crisp crust and soft inside. The herbs in oil were delicious. We needed the bread to enjoy with the charcuterie and our meals. I knew looking at the menu that it was not a sicilian chef and I was correct. I love seeing different dishes on the menu. It is different from the more Southern Italian restaurants many of us go to. I will have to come back many times in order to try a lot of the menu. It won't take much to twist my arm. The pasta was made fresh in our meals. The meatballs had good flavor. The tomato sauce was made with fresh tomatoes. It had a nice balance. This was the lunch portion and it came with either a salad or soup. My lasagna was the best I've had. Fresh sheets of pasta with several different types of meat, sauce and cheese. This was the lunch portion. I loved all the flavors. The spaghetti with clams was perfect. It was filled with fresh clams, fresh garlic (not overwhelming), white wine and parsley. My brother said it was perfect! He is very critical of Italian restaurants (that comes from our mother being Italian and traveling overseas) and he was very impressed with the restaurant overall. They have a wood fired pizza oven, a nice wine list and a pleasant dining room. They close at 3:00 p.m. and reopen for dinner. This was absolutely the worst experience we have ever had!!! Needless to say our first time is our last. We were seated by a young lady Didn't let us know who our server would be. Just sat us down. 1 server comes over, asks if we wanted anything to drink. I asked for a water and unsweetened tea He had to check to see if they had tea. Along comes yet another server asks if we want something to drink. We order a bottle of Moscato and our order. We rescued bread and sauce at that time. A few minutes later the server who took our order came back to verify what we ordered....ugh we should have left then. Along comes our meal and they ask if we want more bread. Yes please. They bring out 1 piece of bread not enough to share. Our entrees arrive... finally. He ordered the lasagne, I ordered the rib ravioli. The lasagna was so cold it was not edible. The plate was a chilled plate. Seemed like it went from frig to table. Mine was so salty it was not appetizing. I managed to choke down 1/2 ravioli. I flagged one of the servers down, explained the situation and he apologized and said he would remove the meals from the bill. Asked if we wanted to speak to the manager. We said no as long as it was taken off of the bill. Plates were removed. The full bill was left at the table. Then ANOTHER server arrives introducing himself at the head waiter and was giving us the daily specials. We explained the situation and that yes, now we want to speak to the supervisor. The corrected bill finally arrived we paid and in the way out spoke with the person behind the counter. He said there was not a manager or assistant manager on duty. WTH?!?!??! I've driven past this location for years and always thought it was just another deli or sandwich shop. From the highway, it has absolutely no presence--just a narrow strip across the elevation of the building and barely any signage. Most people probably blow right past it without a second thought. And then there's the name: La Strega, which means The Witch in English. Is this supposed to be a joke? Apparently, it was named by a previous owner, but why not change it to something a little more casual or upbeat? It sounds like this place should be over in Cassadaga, and who knows, maybe it should be. To make matters worse, the Health Department closed it for violations about a year ago. Not the best way to build your reputation, especially with a name like that and a barely noticeable location. We decided to give it a try after an acquaintance suggested it when we were in the area. It was around 5:00 pm on the night before the 4th, and you'd think there would be some kind of crowd with most folks having the next day off. What did we find? Only one table in the back with two people. Not a great look for a place that our acquaintance said was worth checking out. We were greeted by a friendly waiter who wanted to be sure we had eaten in an Italian restaurant before. As retirees of a certain age, we felt a bit patronized by the question. My guess is he was hinting at the prices, which were indeed high. Speaking of the menu, many of the selections were pricey and laid out in "courses," obviously trying to get you to select more than one, which would drive the total into the stratosphere. If I wanted to pay Chart House prices for a quick dinner, it wouldn't be here. On a fixed income, we selected two reasonably priced dishes. I had the small pizza, and my wife chose spaghetti and meatballs (not on the menu). Both were fine but nowhere near what we expected. What really ticked me off was the lack of pricing on the drinks. The special cocktails were priced and predictably high. Standard bar fare prices were missing. I ordered a vodka and soda, and my wife had a Chardonnay. We each had one before dinner and one after. Drink total: $53.90. We both felt ripped off. Drinks, a small pizza, and spaghetti and meatballs for $90.76 before tip--total $105.76.
