Picked up dinner from Christo's on a Saturday night, and everything we ordered was a hit. We went with a large pepperoni and mushroom pizza, pepperoni bread, and lemon pepper wings. The pizza was definitely the star of the meal. It had a crispy bottom with a light, fluffy crust, giving it a really nice texture from the first bite to the last. One thing that stood out was the sprinkle of Parmesan cheese over the top. It's a simple touch, but it added another layer of flavor that made the pizza stand out from your typical pepperoni pizza. This was my first time trying the pepperoni bread, and it didn't disappoint. It had plenty of filling, great flavor, and paired really well with the pizza. It's something I'd order again without hesitation. The lemon pepper wings were another favorite. They had a crispy outside, were seasoned well, and the lemon pepper flavor came through without being overpowering. Overall, we were really happy with everything we ordered. It had been years since I'd visited Christo's and it did not disappoint. Our party of 4 arrived just before 6pm on a rainy Friday night and were seated right away. Our food came pretty fast and we both enjoyed large pizzas. My husband and I split a large pizza with chicken, spinach, and garlic. Wow it was amazing! Beware the pizza is pretty thin though so I wouldn't recommend splitting with more than 2 people. We were seated right next to the dessert case, which made it hard for us to say no. The brownie/strawberry cheesecake was amazing. The inside gives diner vibes and the outside offers nice seating when the weather is well. Should you ever walk about downtown Sanford this hole-in-the wall is worth a pit stop. The pizza and calzones are where it is at. I'm not an expert with bread but I will say you can just taste how much better than Sbarro's it is. It can't even be compared honestly. I've had the pizza before so this time I decided to try the calzone. I do enjoy theirs but my number one will still be Prato (because rats just kidding). For me, the calzone was amazing. Piping hot and fresh from the oven. The bread was wonderful. They custom made my calzone for me with eggplant and ricotta cheese. The marinara sauce was home made. I asked for a second serving of the marinara because I don't skimp on sauce, especially anything tomato based. My friend raved about their pecan pie which is home made. Walked in close 12:45 PM. There were two ladies in the restaurant and me. I sat down to look at the menu waitress came up asked for my drink order came back with my drink. Before visiting Christo's, we had stopped at Zorba's down the street. After being informed that we could not have lemon in our water due to "Covid restrictions" and also finding out we would have to order from the expensive dinner menu (no lunch menu on weekends), and not being able to find a gyro on the menu we left the almost empty establishment. What a difference at Christo's!!! We were immediately rewarded with water that had real lemon wedges and a nice cold beer, draft. We easily found the Ultimate Gyro on the lunch menu and were promptly served with it. We got one "Fat Boy Style" and one as the default. The default is ruffled potato chips and garlic pickles, not as pictured with fries on the menu. The with fries option is almost as the Fat Boy option, so we got that. It includes fries, an onion ring and a cheese ball. The gyros were good. They did not have much oregano in the meat or elsewhere and the Kalamata olives were not brined. The toppings were not well distributed. But the sandwiches arrived very promptly and with the right sides. Our very attentive and efficient waitress had recommended trying the cheese balls as being "popular and very unique". The one that came with Fat Boy Style was not something I've had elsewhere. It was like those big cheese balls you can make for a party with a core ingredient of cream cheese with grated cheeses mixed in. Then it was coated in panko and fried. I was glad we only got one, it was about 5 rich bites. The firecracker sauce was mild and kept the ball from tasting overly dry. It was a little like Thousand Island dressing. The reason for the 4 stars instead of 3 was that the place had a very positive vibe, the staff were so good, and I wanted to go back and try more. I saw Greek pastries freshly baked, many Italian favorites, including very popular pizza and the place was warm and welcoming on a chilly morning. If I lived in Sanford, I would go back for sure. I really wanted to like this restaurant but it didn't really impress. My kids got chicken tenders that were over fried to the point of being so hard I could barely cut them. I got the Greek nachos which sounded delicious on the menu however the pita chips were burnt and the advertised toppings were really slim and it was mostly shredded iceberg lettuce on top of the burnt pita triangles. There probably wasn't a whole slice of tomato on it, it was mostly lettuce and a mayonnaise based sauce, not tzatziki. We also waited like 40 minutes for our food. Quality of food and experience was disappointing. The French fries were good. But spending $60 I expected the food to be better. read more

Underwhelmed is the perfect description for my experience. First of all, it was freezing cold when we walked in as they were opening at 11 AM. Granted it was an unusually cold week in Florida. Could not catch the waitress' eye to save my life and we were her only customers. I ordered the buffalo tenders and they were over breaded (frozen) and tasted like they'd been fried in stale oil. Not very hot when they arrived. My dining companion ordered a calzone. It wasn't even lukewarm when it arrived 40 minutes after we ordered it. Sent it back to be heated up and the waitress threw it away and started again with a new frozen or refrigerated one. Waitress showed all the charm (and half the ambition) of a wilted dandelion. We stopped in to Christo's to have lunch on a weekday afternoon. The restaurant wasn't super busy so we were seated quickly. Our server was nice and checked in pretty regularly. We started with the pepperoni bread which was delicious! I liked the included marinara for dipping and the bread wasn't overly greasy like pepperoni items can sometimes get. For my meal, I ordered the chicken de Christo pasta which had chicken, artichoke hearts, black olives, and roasted tomatoes in an Alfredo sauce. This came with a choice of soup or salad, so I chose the lemon chicken and rice soup. It also came with more bread which I didn't realize (my fault for not reading the menu thoroughly haha.) The pasta was really tasty and the Alfredo nice and creamy. In my opinion the sauce could have used a little more seasoning and a couple of the chicken pieces were stringy, but overall it was yummy. The soup was flavorful and comforting. My boyfriend ordered the Chicago beef sandwich and enjoyed it very much. All of the portions were huge so you definitely get your money's worth! Someone on the Deltona Nextdoor recommended this place and I'm so glad they did! It's a mix of Italian, Greek, and American cuisine with a dessert case right out of a legit diner. I started with their lemon chicken orzo soup which had a nice roasted chicken flavor with just a hint of lemon. My father got a supreme pizza and for the first time in several decades of eating pizza he ate the crust! It's a delicious yeasty dough brushed with an herbed butter. The crust wasn't too thick and it was loaded with fresh toppings and baked to perfection. I tried the firecracker chicken sandwich fried which wasn't really spicy as the name suggested but did come with a creamy sweet chili sauce on the side that was tasty. I had to get the upgrade with the fried cheese ball which was basically fried Mac and cheese without the Mac. The onion ring was perfectly beer battered and the fries were lightly coated making them extra crispy. I had to try the orange cake because you just don't see that all the time. While her i ordered a Chicago Beef sandwich and it arrived fairly promptly. Notably, the sandwich was sizable. It was stuffed with chunks of beef and mushrooms topped with a layer of cheese. The sandwich was flavorful when I bit into it. Great tasking sandwich! The dish came with potato chips standard, but I opted to upgrade to Onion rings as a side - which was a great choice! The portion was large and there was no room for dessert - although I will admit that the desserts in the neighboring cold case looked quite appealing. There is both inside and outdoor seating at the restaurant. Sanford is usually fairly easy to find a parking spot if you are willing to walk a block or so from a public lot - which is really worth it because this area of Sanford is really cool to look around. Fantastic find! After driving 3 hrs to Sanford-Orlando, we found that my mother's plane was not arriving at 5pm, but was now arriving at 1120. Shannon, our waitress was quick to get our drink order and offered insight to the extensive menu, which when you are starving, was very hard to make a decision as everything sounded so yummy. I ordered the Christo's Chicago beef sandwich and made it a Fat Boy, which adds a fried cheese ball with sweet Thai chili and mayonnaise sauce, French fries or potato salad and an onion ring. My husband ordered the Rueben and also upgraded to the "Fat Boy". We are sitting in a booth right next to 2 cases showcasing their baked goods, which range from a wide variety of cookies, chocolate dipped baklava, to cakes and pies that were literally making us salivate! (I mentioned that we were hungry and were drooling just reading the menu). Out comes our food, my Christo's Chicago beef was piled with sliced bottom round, 2 kinds of melted cheese, sautéed onion and mushrooms on a crispy outside/soft inside cheese baguette roll, the au jus was fresh and the flavor.. wowza! I honestly haven't had a dinner this flavorful in a long time in much more expensive establishments! The flavors just meld perfectly! My husband's Rueben was equally impressive on his thickly cut marbled rye bread, piled high with juicy corned beef, sauerkraut and Swiss! I would absolutely recommend their cheeseburger and fries and, God Bless 'Em, their Cokes in the giant red cups OG restaurants know about. Well-seasoned burger and cooked to perfection with lettuce, tomato, and onion. Threw a little ranch dressing on that bad boy, for good measure. Not one smidge of brown on that lettuce - hooray! Fresh, delicious bun and the fries were hot and crunchy. Be warned, though - there is a $5 upcharge to switch from chips to fries. Yes, the fries are great (real fries, not fries niblets), but still. Their calzones looked great and just the right size for a solo diner. I've no need for a calzone the size of a plane wing, thank you very much.
