First time dining there and certainly not the last. The service was top-notch from Steve -- attentive but not pushy; just the right tempo. The Food was amazing. We shared the special Osso-bucco and it was fork tender and saturated with just the right level of flavor. The Bistro is small and the ambiance was nice. For my husband, he thought a little "loud" with background noise because it is all hard surfaces so no sound absorption. The portions were plentiful. We ended up at La Strega after taking a 3.30 pm boat ride on the St.John. My out of State guests found it online. The atmosphere was great. The waiters friendly and helpful with explaining the menu. Starting with a refreshing Limoncello Spirit, with a few mint leaves added We had Ravioli filled with squash, Lasagna, Linguini Pasta with Artichoke hearts and tomatoes. Ate here for the first time last evening and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The food was amazing, I had the lasagna but also sampled some of the other dishes at the table and everything was very tasteful. The waiter was excellent, attentive but not overbearing. He was thoroughly versed in the menu and was able to accommodate food allergies without having to check with the kitchen. He was spot on with his recommendations for entrees. Everyone we interacted with was extremely friendly and polite. They were all very detailed oriented and made sure all guests were taken care of. Now, for the best part: THE FOOD WAS TO DIE FOR! Every single thing we ordered was soooo delicious. I even forgot to take pictures but I recommend the whole menu. If you like espresso martinis, YOU NEED TO ORDER ONE! They use real espresso and omg it was hands down the best espresso martini I've had! Thank you to the owner for taking the time to talk to us and explain the history of the restaurant. Just had dinner here and it was incredible! Our server Nathan was very attentive and made sure we were taken care of. The atmosphere was very intimate and quiet, perfect for a date night. We started off with the appetizer special of tempura mozzarella with fresh tomato. I have enjoyed several meals at La Strega, but my most recent visit was disillusioning. To jump right in, my filet mignon was the worst I've ever been served. That's not hyperbole, I assure you. I'm old enough to have enjoyed many a filet mignon. This one, however, was so tough as to be inedible. Flabbergasted and dismayed, I surrendered after two jaw-challenging bites. What should have been a tender cut of meat instead was not delicious but defiant. The owner apologized, then brought me another complete serving, which I took home, my appetite having been satisfied by the steak's accompaniments. By then, however, my favorable impression of La Strega had been severely wilted. How could a good restaurant serve such an abomination? I was baffled. I remain baffled. The thing is, the god-awful steak wasn't the first disappointment of the meal. That dishonor goes to the dry, tasteless bread that was brought to our table. I don't know when this bread had left the oven, but I think the previous century would be a good guess. Hard as a hockey puck. Dry as the Sahara. Seriously, the bread defied being cut by our dinner knives. Listen, I don't know what's happening at La Strega, and perhaps our sad experience is not typical. I hope so, honestly. DeBary needs a quality local restaurant amid all the mediocre chain joints. My dismay, however, is such that weeks, maybe months will pass before I return. read more

The owner and staff remembered my friends from a previous visit and greeted them with warmly. I ordered delicious Pino Grigio, and chef's sea bass special. Outstanding! The vegetable of fresh broccoli and squash in a light seasoned butter sauce were also delicious! The restaurant reminds me of a traditional Italian/Mediterranean restaurant found in NYC. have been a loyal customer of le Strega. I recently ordered on line for which I pay seriously increased prices. The order arrived with no crostini. In fact the 46 $ order ( without tax and delivery) was sans bread of any type. That's disappointing. Also, I called the restaurant an hour prior to my order and was told to soup of the day ( not cheap by the way) was Italian wedding. I thought great, that's my favorite. But I got a pasta in some chicken broth. Well that was disappointing. I think if le Strega wants delivery service there needs to intentionality to how items on the menu are described and take stock in how they are delivered. I am @this point disappointed! read more

The pizza was horrid, I don't think they understand how to use an a wood oven. The crust was not cooked all the way, yet, it was burnt. And in the middle, it was like soup. I asked for bottled water and was brought about a half a liter bottled water for seven dollars! I would think you would have to tell someone how much it is before you do that. when this restaurant first opened it was fabulous. Everything about it was wonderful. And then if you wanted to run in and get pizza with someone you'd go in and the pizza oven never was on. So you could never get pizza at an Italian restaurant with the wood-burning stove! so I said I'd never go back, so it's been about a year maybe a year and a half I went back with my niece because it is a pretty restaurant and I guess it can be a nice place to eat if you don't want pizza, and in addition, they bought bread and marinara sauce. So our first thought was are they out of olive oil? So nothing about that. Lunch was good. It all sucked! and it wasn't just me, my niece and her husband also thought it was awful.
