    Shrimp Tempura Appetizer
    Tina L.

I ordered here one day for dinner. It was delayed but no notice was given. If they were busy, a notice or message would be greatly appreciated. So it kind of started on the wrong foot there, but I try to be understanding due to cov19 and everything. Food honestly was okay, but expensive. I got avocado shrimp bowl, but there wasn't much in it. I had the stack and that was good. I had chose cream cheese, kani and shrimp tempura. I also had shrimp tempura. It was decent. I don't think I would come back.

I can't even tell what this is. but I didn't order gigantic cucumbers in all of my rolls.

This is my first time ordering from this store. I ordered through the doordash app and was soooo disappointed with the quality of this sushi. There were gigantic pieces of soft and warm cucumbers in my rolls, barely any shrimp in the shrimp avocado rolls and about 9 pieces of ginger for the 24 rolls that I ordered. I'm so disappointed with this restaurant because I had such high hopes. There was so much rice in the sushi, it just felt like rice and seaweed balls. I'm trying to consider the fact that they closed about 20 minutes before my order was picked up so that could've been why but i'm still frustrated.

Staff was nice but the food was not good. Rice used for the sushi roll tasted a day old but it could have been Over cooked rice. Salmon sashimi still had scales on it. Avocado was hard and brown...

My God my God is all I can say after biting into that San Juan sushi I just ordered. I live literally a few blocks away and was nervous to try the place since due to its location I grew up in north Philly never had anything good off Girard st but let me tell you I will be coming here as long as they're open food is amazing so flavorful and fresh im so mad i didn't try them sooner im puerto rican and black and love Asian foods so this was like a taste from heaven and totally fulfilled my craving.i can't wait to go eat here when covid is over with my bf and girlfriends its perfect. Must try the San Juan rolls. Thank you to JL Jupiter's video recommendation.

Maaaaaaaaaannnn listen have you ever had an organism in your mouth?!?? I ordered from this place to have it delivered to my job and they did not disappoint. The presentation of the sushi looked very professional like you were looking at it on the menu. I ordered the salmon sushi rolls and from first bite I couldn't help but to roll my eyes with every chew. It tasted so fresh. Everything was just right. My co worker came over and tried one and loved it just as much that she called and placed an order for it as well. The price wasn't bad at all it was $7 for a Sushi meal which if you love sushi you know sushi is not cheap! It tasted so good that I was upset that I finished it lol. I will be ordering from this place more often. Hands down the best place in Philadelphia to get sushi! 5 stars across the board!

Combining Japanese and Latin Cuisine is so genius..Love love love this place!! Had a get-together with some friends and was craving sushi. We ordered directly from their website and was able to pick it up within 25 min. Had Shrimp Avocado bowls, Casa Wings, Philly Green Dragon Roll, Takayama Delight, and they even had my favorite desserts- Tres Leches cake and Flan. Everything was super fresh and delicious. I'll definitely be sure to try the Lamb Chops and Steak next time

And amazing combination of flavors in there sushi. Great music and drinks. The price is really good too

I just moved to the area and stopped in for dinner randomly, and it was a great decision! They have a few traditional rolls, but most of the menu is creative selections. I didn't think I'd like corn beef on sushi, but it turns out the Boriqua roll is awesome. Highly recommend this place for the adventurous foodie type.

    El Morro

For a good time..... I knew that title would intrigue you. But I used it in the context of great food and service. "La Sushi" is a quaint restaurant in Philly that will not only satisfy your hunger but need to socialize. We heard that La Sushi mixed traditional Japanese sushi with a Caribbean flair. They do and it is a resounding success. I had the "El Morro" which was shredded pork, avocado, beans and rice rolled in sweet plantains. Wow, not only did it taste fantastic it reminded me of my Puerto Rican grandmother's cooking. But if your in the mood for just sushi try their "Royal" or "Philly Green Dragon" both were well prepared, seasoned and a pure delight to your taste buds. The service was just as good and they tended to my family and I as if we were long lost friends (FYI our dinner group were all vaccinated and masked). It's a small spot with only a few tables properly spaced and protected so if they are at capacity do not fret take out is just as good. So if you happen to be in Philly I recommend you stop off at "La Sushi" and enjoy a great meal and service.

    El Boricua Roll,
    Wender O.

Went to La Sushi and I had a very pleasant experience. I heard about this place via Instagram after seeing a few people post up pictures and knew I had to stop by. The restaurant has a "lounge" feel to it. For a neighborhood that's usually very hipster-ish, this feels slightly upscale( in a good way). I grabbed a seat at the bar and took a look at the menu. Now, for me , i don't particular like seafood, so I was interested in trying out the alternative sushi they offered. I'm a huge fan of Corned Beef ( seriously , i want it with everything !) so i wanted to try their Boricua Roll. From the very first bite, I already knew this place would become my "treat myself" spot. The Boricua roll consist of Plátano Madura ( fried sweet plantain), avocado, wrapped in rice with corned beef on top. It may sound weird but the sweetness of the plantain with the savory flavors of the corned beef is something i am here for every single day. I ate all 8 rolls with the quickness. 8 wasn't enough for me so I decided to try another tray. The server encouraged me to try the DJ Redz Roll(ñames after the owner) which consisted of Steak, chicken, shrimp(had this removed), avocado and sweet plantain wrapped in Rice rolls with Spicy Mayo-Ketchup Sauce drizzled on top. This was sooo good as well. I was finally content and full with those two things so I was ready to go. I saw that they had a full bar along with beers so I'm interested in seeing if they have happy hours specials in the future. I am also ready to go back and try the rest of the menu. The service was great and I look forward to coming here more often, it won't disappoint.

The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, the drinks were amazing, and the entire meal was absolutely worth it. We left already looking forward to coming back and would highly recommend it! The only minor downside was that it got pretty warm inside. It was during the heatwave, so I don't think the A/C was able to keep up, but it definitely wouldn't stop us from coming back. We sat in a cozy corner booth and could easily hear each other although we could not read the menu or clearly see what we were eating the lighting is so dim (and consistent with the gothic theme). Now onto the food. We ordered 9 dishes (waiter suggested 8) and it was way too much for us and I'm a big eater! Edamame dumplings - 4/5, may be just me, but I don't really enjoy mushy fillings to my dumplings. The broth they came in was amazing though Tuna rice cracker - 4/5, not really a cracker, more like a crunchy mini loaf of rice topped with tuna and a slice of jalapeno - delicious and much more filling than what I was expecting. I only gave a 4 instead of 5/5 for taste because of the unexpected presentation of the "cracker" Shishito pepper small plate - 5*/5 outstanding! I could eat these all day they were so delicious. I'm not sure how they flavor these or what light crunchy sprinkles were on top of this very generous portion of peppers (I would estimate maybe 30 peppers?) I'd go back just for this dish Black cod fried rice - 3/5, I should know better that a miso black cod will be somewhat fishy, and with it spread in chunks throughout the fried rice I'd say this was my least favorite dish. Crispy brussels sprouts - 4/5, a solid offering, not much to write home about Crispy tofu - 3/5, not particularly unique although it sounded amazing when described - cubes of deep fried tofu drizzled with peanut sauce on a bed of cilantro pesto. But not that tasty and not that interesting Scallop robo - 5/5, excellent with a kick from the spicy powder on these, note these are very small portions, three slices of scallop (not even a full scallop or if these were full scallops they were very thin) on a stick Ribeye scallion robo - 5/5, also excellent, with three chunks of tender grilled beef Mochi ice cream: passion fruit, matcha - 4/5, but mostly because I'm not a huge fan of mochi ice cream, I'd rather just have the ice cream or have it with a brownie or between two cookies So overall, service was great, not overly attentive. And the food was very solid with an outstanding exception with the shishito peppers. I'm not sure I'd go back as it is very dark in there and if I was seated on the first floor I'd not be able to have conversation with my dinner mates.

I had the rainbow roll because it had a BOGO offer, making 2 rolls only $16. However, the rolls were SMALL and basically just a California roll with a tiny sliver of fish on top. Two was the perfect amount for me and I don't eat that much, so I would've been quite upset if I'd paid over $30 for that. Aside from the price and size, it wasn't very good. There wasn't much imitation crab inside (which is relatively inexpensive anyways) and the fish on top wasn't very fresh so I ended up taking it off. The salmon sashimi pieces were also half cooked? Super weird... Maybe the food would be better in person, or if I didn't order sushi for takeout, but I probably won't be coming back here :(

The fried calamari was also great, though the pieces were on the smaller side. While the chicken teriyaki was a bit disappointing, the rest of the meal more than made up for it. Value: At approximately $33.85, the AYCE price is a great value for the quality you receive. They also have an extensive ramen menu--while it's not included in the AYCE price, it looked delicious and is something I'm excited to try next time. Overall Thoughts: The restaurant was very quiet during our lunch visit, which made for a relaxing meal, though I imagine it gets lively during happy hour.
