Futomaki Spicy Tuna Roll Shrimp Tempura appz 5pcs
Maya S.

Great takeout sushi place around the corner from me. I ate in once when I first moved and they have a few small tables inside, but definitely more of a takeout vibe. No complaints on the sushi and the prices are fair!

probably closer to a 3.5 stars. a casual takeout spot located in the Rittenhouse Square area. there are several tables in the front of the interior. it's a small space that is cleanly maintained. majority of the business seems to be takeout and delivery. but if you are looking for a relatively quick meal--this is a good choice especially if you want sushi rolls or other. had a quick lunch with a group. food came out fairly quickly after ordering. enjoyed some tempura that was fried well, not oily, and was light yet satisfying as tempura should be. ordered spider roll which was basically fried soft shell crab, cucumber, avocado, sauce, etc. the roll was satisfying and hit the spot for wanting savory / comfort eats without being too heavy. service is quick and friendly enough. English by the staff seems a little limited, but it works bc the menu isn't very complicated.

This place seems to be where the locals like to grab their sushi. I think that's a good sign! Indeed, I enjoyed the three roll special. I chose the Alligator Roll, King Salmon Roll and the Rainbow Roll. Too much for one person, but the deal was too good to pass up. The look of the restaurant could be improved. It looks a bit cluttered and busy. The staff working tonight were very nice. I love that when I checked in with my Yelp app, an offer popped up and I was able to get a free drink!

Tricolor sushi, tuna roll, Tornado roll, eel (unagi) sushi, spring rolls, miso soup
Alyse J.

Machi sushi was very good! It wasn't the best sushi in the city, but it is one of the best values! Some takeout sushi tends to be not as good, but this wasn't the case at all. The food was perfectly timed and everything was very enjoyable. We ordered Tricolor sushi tuna, salmon, yellowtail), tuna roll, Tornado roll, eel (unagi) sushi, spring rolls, miso soup for two people. It was a perfect amount of food and a perfect value. Ordering online was very easy, and pickup was also very easy. The staff working were very nice. The restaurant itself is small but I would definitely be back for some more takeout sushi!

What does the sign say

I was out walking looking for a place to eat. Walked past here and decided to stop. Looked interesting. Lots of different sushi here so hope it great. The place is small seats about 18 people max. But I see a lot of locals coming in to pick up their orders. You have two guys making the sushi. No music no TV, thank you. Location is on a small street and no real parking , but I think people from Philadelphia are looking de to that l. No drinks made here it is all in the fridge. I got boba. I ordered yellow tail and white tuna. AMAZING!! I will come here just for the sushi alone. Just the right amount of rice. Cuts down f fish were not big but not small either. Put some wasabi and it was so smooth. Good fish. Udon beef soup is great thick noodles, broth could be more brothy but still good. Staff is not friendly, do not welcome you, speak different language the entire time. Don't interact. But since I came to eat it is not that much of an issue. Have to say sushi is great here!! Place keeps busy so locals know the place better is good.

Instructions that were not followed. Clearly indicated GLUTEN FREE.

If you have a food allergy, this is not the restaurant to order from. I specifically indicated GLUTEN FREE. There's crunch in most of the rolls.- rolls that never have crunch unless requested. I'm highly allergic to gluten. As such, my order was inedible and caused me to have severe stomach pains. On an aside, the rolls contain 1/2 the portion of sushi that is usually included. There's plenty of other options for sushi. This is caused by carelessness and sacrificing quality to make an extra buck.

3 colour sashimi ($22), Salmon Skin Roll ($5), Unagi ($5), Egg ($4)
Mike O.

Excellent value in low-priced rolls ($5), 2-piece nigiri or sashimi ($5) and many more. Awesome neighborhood spot to satiate your craving for some awesome rolls, or favorite tempuras (and more!) from the kitchen! AMAZING AND FRESSSSH Value-level fish from the bar (can't beat $5 for two pieces, anywhere) is fresh and fresssh. Radish and carrot are fresh, and white ginger and wasabi is similarly good. Low-sodium soy sauce is the norm in the delightful ceramic mini-carafes. DING NOT BEEP I'll flee if I hear beep-beep-beep from an unagi or salmon skin roll order, and here gave a DING! Yesssss! IN THE END Go for one of the many many rolls and kitchen dishes! Value is the theme here, and you will not be disappointed. But this is not the place to be transformed to another universe by life-changing maguro, tamago or toro. BUT THE RESTROOM! Sink fixtures haven't been cleaned in months, nor corners of the floor or toilet. Such omissions are a massive flag for me... makes me wonder what the kitchen prep areas are like.

Lunch special 3 rolls: spicy tuna, salmon avocado, and yellowtail scallion
Tiffany P.

One of my favorite sushi places! I'm so glad it's so close to my work. My go to is the lunch special, 3 rolls with soup or salad. The staff is super friendly and the food is fresh and delicious. So convenient to pick up.

Not the best sushi I've ever had but definitely a good deal overall. My favorite was the sweet potato tempura roll for sure.

We had dinner reservations for 7:45 but got there two hours early because we really wanted to try out their happy hour. Huge selection of food for happy hour and delicious drinks. We waited an hour but were sat and immediately cancelled our dinner reservations because we knew it was about to go down. Fair warning - if you're approaching 40 like us, it's dark, it's loud, and you're sitting on top of people. It will be worth it. We had the double knot roll, spicy tuna roll, BAO, and some drinks. All 10/10. But the real star is the grilled meats. Specifically the scallion ribeye. We tried to take pictures of all of it but it was literally too dark in the restaurant. I would go back and just order ribeye skewers for the entire happy hour. They don't take happy hour reservations but get there early. It's the best.

I've been meaning to try Double Knot and was glad to go tonight with a friend/colleague. It is…read moredefinitely very dark inside and I was glad to be seated in the less noisy basement compared with the super noisy bar area on the first floor that also has dinner seating. We sat in a cozy corner booth and could easily hear each other although we could not read the menu or clearly see what we were eating the lighting is so dim (and consistent with the gothic theme). Now onto the food. We ordered 9 dishes (waiter suggested 8) and it was way too much for us and I'm a big eater! Edamame dumplings - 4/5, may be just me, but I don't really enjoy mushy fillings to my dumplings. The broth they came in was amazing though Tuna rice cracker - 4/5, not really a cracker, more like a crunchy mini loaf of rice topped with tuna and a slice of jalapeno - delicious and much more filling than what I was expecting. I only gave a 4 instead of 5/5 for taste because of the unexpected presentation of the "cracker" Shishito pepper small plate - 5*/5 outstanding! I could eat these all day they were so delicious. I'm not sure how they flavor these or what light crunchy sprinkles were on top of this very generous portion of peppers (I would estimate maybe 30 peppers?) I'd go back just for this dish Black cod fried rice - 3/5, I should know better that a miso black cod will be somewhat fishy, and with it spread in chunks throughout the fried rice I'd say this was my least favorite dish. Crispy brussels sprouts - 4/5, a solid offering, not much to write home about Crispy tofu - 3/5, not particularly unique although it sounded amazing when described - cubes of deep fried tofu drizzled with peanut sauce on a bed of cilantro pesto. But not that tasty and not that interesting Scallop robo - 5/5, excellent with a kick from the spicy powder on these, note these are very small portions, three slices of scallop (not even a full scallop or if these were full scallops they were very thin) on a stick Ribeye scallion robo - 5/5, also excellent, with three chunks of tender grilled beef Mochi ice cream: passion fruit, matcha - 4/5, but mostly because I'm not a huge fan of mochi ice cream, I'd rather just have the ice cream or have it with a brownie or between two cookies So overall, service was great, not overly attentive. And the food was very solid with an outstanding exception with the shishito peppers. I'm not sure I'd go back as it is very dark in there and if I was seated on the first floor I'd not be able to have conversation with my dinner mates.

They have really great options to choose from on Happy Hour and their regular menu! The Bao Buns & Steamed Dumplings did not disappoint! I was full after those two options but the HH menu had plenty to choose from. Fresh sushi is also prepared as you walk in! Beautiful dim lighting right at the entrance. That was my first time having that beer, not bad. I switched over to a special cocktail made my the bartender; great customer service! We got the general tso dumpling, shortrib dumplings, wonton tacos, fried rice, roasted branzino, crispy duck & Korean BBQ beef. Everything was delicious. The meal was topped off with 2 mini ice cream cones... Chocolate caramel and vanilla raspberry. Everything seemed perfectly portioned and timed. Service ran smoothly. They also take your credit card before hand, which I can definitely understand. My biggest complaint is the lighting inside. There is no reason for it to be that dark in the middle of the day. I had to use the light on my phone to see the menu. I also tried my best to use the chopsticks and not ask for a fork. But I tapped out at the fried rice. Apparently they have a really nice outside area as well. My oldest says it's "grounded" and talks about "the vibes."
