This place seems to be where the locals like to grab their sushi. I think that's a good sign! Indeed, I enjoyed the three roll special. I chose the Alligator Roll, King Salmon Roll and the Rainbow Roll. Too much for one person, but the deal was too good to pass up. The look of the restaurant could be improved. It looks a bit cluttered and busy. The staff working tonight were very nice. I love that when I checked in with my Yelp app, an offer popped up and I was able to get a free drink!

Tricolor sushi, tuna roll, Tornado roll, eel (unagi) sushi, spring rolls, miso soup
    Alyse J.

Machi sushi was very good! It wasn't the best sushi in the city, but it is one of the best values! Some takeout sushi tends to be not as good, but this wasn't the case at all. The food was perfectly timed and everything was very enjoyable. We ordered Tricolor sushi tuna, salmon, yellowtail), tuna roll, Tornado roll, eel (unagi) sushi, spring rolls, miso soup for two people. It was a perfect amount of food and a perfect value. Ordering online was very easy, and pickup was also very easy. The staff working were very nice. The restaurant itself is small but I would definitely be back for some more takeout sushi!

    What does the sign say

I was out walking looking for a place to eat. Walked past here and decided to stop. Looked interesting. Lots of different sushi here so hope it great. The place is small seats about 18 people max. But I see a lot of locals coming in to pick up their orders. You have two guys making the sushi. No music no TV, thank you. Location is on a small street and no real parking , but I think people from Philadelphia are looking de to that l. No drinks made here it is all in the fridge. I got boba. I ordered yellow tail and white tuna. AMAZING!! I will come here just for the sushi alone. Just the right amount of rice. Cuts down f fish were not big but not small either. Put some wasabi and it was so smooth. Good fish. Udon beef soup is great thick noodles, broth could be more brothy but still good. Staff is not friendly, do not welcome you, speak different language the entire time. Don't interact. But since I came to eat it is not that much of an issue. Have to say sushi is great here!! Place keeps busy so locals know the place better is good.

Instructions that were not followed. Clearly indicated GLUTEN FREE.
    Michael R.

If you have a food allergy, this is not the restaurant to order from. I specifically indicated GLUTEN FREE. There's crunch in most of the rolls.- rolls that never have crunch unless requested. I'm highly allergic to gluten. As such, my order was inedible and caused me to have severe stomach pains. On an aside, the rolls contain 1/2 the portion of sushi that is usually included. There's plenty of other options for sushi. This is caused by carelessness and sacrificing quality to make an extra buck.

    3 colour sashimi ($22), Salmon Skin Roll ($5), Unagi ($5), Egg ($4)
    Mike O.

Excellent value in low-priced rolls ($5), 2-piece nigiri or sashimi ($5) and many more. Awesome neighborhood spot to satiate your craving for some awesome rolls, or favorite tempuras (and more!) from the kitchen! AMAZING AND FRESSSSH Value-level fish from the bar (can't beat $5 for two pieces, anywhere) is fresh and fresssh. Radish and carrot are fresh, and white ginger and wasabi is similarly good. Low-sodium soy sauce is the norm in the delightful ceramic mini-carafes. DING NOT BEEP I'll flee if I hear beep-beep-beep from an unagi or salmon skin roll order, and here gave a DING! Yesssss! IN THE END Go for one of the many many rolls and kitchen dishes! Value is the theme here, and you will not be disappointed. But this is not the place to be transformed to another universe by life-changing maguro, tamago or toro. BUT THE RESTROOM! Sink fixtures haven't been cleaned in months, nor corners of the floor or toilet. Such omissions are a massive flag for me... makes me wonder what the kitchen prep areas are like.

Lunch special 3 rolls: spicy tuna, salmon avocado, and yellowtail scallion
    Tiffany P.

One of my favorite sushi places! I'm so glad it's so close to my work. My go to is the lunch special, 3 rolls with soup or salad. The staff is super friendly and the food is fresh and delicious. So convenient to pick up.

Left 25 minutes later than planned. [Fast forward: the guy next to us was wearing a full suit.] We arrived at 5:30 and were told the wait for a walk-in was 20 minutes, so we went to Graffiti Bar next door. P wanted a marg, which was not on the cocktail menu, so the bartender asked what kind of tequila. P said Patrón. We started our happy hour evening with $45 cocktails. The wait was actually only 10 minutes, but they give you a 10-minute grace period once they text you, so we had to chug nevertheless. There is a pipe that says "warm" as you walk in. Touch at your own risk. Now at Double Knot. We ordered the tuna roll and salmon rolls. Good, but not that good. J wanted the yaki soba and liked it. P liked the pork potstickers. J ordered a Sapporo and an argument ensued about how to pronounce "a" in Japanese and/or other Asian languages. A professional woman once scolded J for mispronouncing Wang. We then played odds to determine whether J would turn his Sapporo into a sake bomb using P's sake. Both guessed 5. The sake did in fact "bomb," erupting all over the table and causing a scene. The wait staff did not notice because the ambiance, while "lit," is actually pretty dark. Coast clear. For revenge, we played odds again. P lost and was forced to put soy sauce in her sake and chug it. She took it like a champ. The waitress complimented P's top as we left. Margs at the pourover bar next door: $45. Rolls at Double Knot happy hour: $8. A compliment on a $3.69 top after arriving 36 minutes later than planned: priceless. 7/10.

We were a party of two and the experience was fantastic from start to finish. The Highlights: Quality: This is hands-down the best quality "all-you-can-eat" (AYCE) sushi I've had. Unlike other places where the fish can sometimes taste frozen, everything here tasted fresh and high-quality. Service: Our server, Jordan, was incredibly attentive and made our lunch even better. Menu: The miso soup was delicious, and the salad portion was generous. The fried calamari was also great, though the pieces were on the smaller side. While the chicken teriyaki was a bit disappointing, the rest of the meal more than made up for it. Value: At approximately $33.85, the AYCE price is a great value for the quality you receive. They also have an extensive ramen menu--while it's not included in the AYCE price, it looked delicious and is something I'm excited to try next time. Overall Thoughts: The restaurant was very quiet during our lunch visit, which made for a relaxing meal, though I imagine it gets lively during happy hour.
