The place isn't too big, with a ordering style where you walk in and place your food order before being seated. The restaurant is clean, and the staff is always checking on you. I ordered a margarita and it was so strong I couldn't handle it and the bar tender gladly remade it so much better! She wasn't at all annoyed she even brought it out to me where I sat. This was my second time coming to this place the first time I ordered takeout and this time I ate at the restaurant. This place is really good but a little pricey. They have amazing nachos if you're in the mood for that it is definitely a great choice but their tacos are a little bit soggy. The service is super fast and easy it's more, so where are you pay at the register and then you get a number and see yourself but you are still serve your food and water so it's a nice dining experience The restaurant itself is super trendy in modern. Very cute restaurant that is super hard to find off the post Rd in darien. It is nestled inside of a shopping plaza with zero road visability. We had the wings to start off with. They weren't very crispy but had nice flavor and were not soggy at all which sometimes happens when you order take out. I had the chef's plate which include red rice, beans, gauc and salad, the food was very good and had lots of flavor however for the price the portion was extremely small. My coworker had three tacos : short rib - had lots of flavor a good amount of kick and very tender meat Crispy fish taco - very nice portion of fish and good flavor and the carne asada taco which had very tender meat and good flavor We will Be back just need to remember how to find them They do offer take out Have ample parking as it is in a big shopping plaza They do take credit card read more

All around excellence. Definitely not just another taco place, these tacos are both creative and simple whilst brining loads of flavor. For example, the Chorizo con Papa tacos are made with sausage and potato, with just the right amount of spice. The short ribs are delicious with onions and cilantro. Chicken Tinga tacos are outstanding as well. I'm fortunate to work about a 1/2 mile away and get a chance to eat lunch here often. The only thing I would say is ask them what comes on the taco before ordering as sometimes they add things that are not listed on menu. read more

I really enjoyed having lunch at this place. Essentially you walk in and place your order at the counter and they bring your food to your table. The restaurant is nicely decorated with a full bar. I ordered a pork belly taco which was very flavorful. I loved it, the only thing which would have made it better if it had some pieces of the crackling skin. I also had the carne Asada quesadillas which were delicious. My son had the burrito which he really enjoyed. I will definitely visit this place to try other items on the menu. read more

Such a great concept, which makes for a thoroughly enjoyable experience. All of the tacos are good but we actually think the shrimp taco stands above the others. The chips are great, but can use a smidge more salt on occasion. But the salsa is the star because it's so good and tastes very fresh each time we have it. We've gone to the Greenwich location and found it to be very good and are super happy they are now in Darien! I can vouch positively for their takeout - if you don't see it on their menu they can substitute (hubby wanted short rib quesadillas and they happily accommodated). Guac was a bit bland but for literally the same cost as Chipotle's large Guac and chips well worth the price for quality. The standout for me are the fried fish and shrimp tacos - a nice crispy piece of fish with great accoutrements and two fairly large shrimp in each taco. It's pricey... but a great new option in town. I recently moved to Norwalk and have been waiting for La Taqueria to open closer to my home since the Greenwich location is little too far... The new restaurant is located walking distance from the train station in Darien Ct. I have to say I'm very impressed with the new place it's bigger and more spacious. I ordered a Paloma, without a doubt the best one I have ever had... amazing!! I had a shrimp and pork belly tacos. My husband had a watermelon margarita, chicken wings and a short rib taco. We also ordered guacamole and chips. For dessert we had tres leches. Everything was peeeeeerfect. I can not wait to come back again. All the employees are super nice and super friendly. This is by far the best Mexican food around I highly recommend it to everyone read more

Visiting family and staying at my sister's in Darien. She said I can only stay at her place if I put gas in her car and don't eat any of her snacks. I WAS allowed to eat whatever was left in a bag of Cape Cod chips and there was one other thing, I forget. I also ate a 100 calorie pack of cashews and I don't think she'll ever notice or read this review. Anyway - I digress. My thesis statement in all of this is that I was absolutely starving so I went on Yelp and found this great new spot. The woman who helped me when I walked in was great - I had no idea what I wanted so I went with her recommendation, the fish taco, the very popular short rib taco, and the chef's favorite - the pork belly with queso. I also got the sweet corn which I was on the fence about, but was told that it doesn't have to be on the cob. I didn't want to deal with cob today; I rarely ever do. Everything was so good and surprisingly filling. I almost didn't finish it but I pressed on. I didn't want to leave leftovers for my sister to enjoy because I am still annoyed about her snack policy. I literally sent her like $20 bucks on venmo last time I visited to replace the snacks I ate. Anyway, next time I'm back in town I'll come back here 100%. (No photos, food's all gone) read more

We were excited to find a new restaurant featuring cuisine from Mexico, so we had to give it a try. Having lived many years in the Southwest, this was a different the culinary experience than we expected. You order food at the counter, they give you a number to place on your table & a server delivers your order. The food was fine, but not the authentic, classic cuisine we had growing up. Tacos are small (two shrimp per taco) but the shrimp was cooked perfectly. The lovely floral mural and huge well stocked bar create a family friendly, casual decor. It's a great place to bring kids and everyone there was enjoying themselves, the staff was very nice. Just not the cuisine we were personally hoping for. read more

Terrible staff, Ryan extremely rude. food did not get to my table on time. my drinks were messed up. some of my food was missing and i never got my ranch water. when i asked if I could get a refund the cashier was very rude about it. ambient was dirty, I sat by the window and there was crumbs of food all over and scattered. I was one of many who had a lot to complain about this day. Genuinely don't suggest it, they charge 5 dollars for a single taco and they are not customer friendly at all. This place needs better management and a more friendly environment. save your money and time and purchase elsewhere. read more

They just need more staff. We were at the bar, but I heard from a friend who ate there recently that if you eat at the tables you need to order from the register. Hmmm. Don't love that. Hire a waitress. We sat at the bar for at least 15 minutes before being acknowledged. Again, not that she wasn't working hard, but they need more staff. BIG CON: The lighting!!! It's like a cafeteria. You have this pretty new space but the ambiance is harsh. Dim the lights-especially at the bar- after a certain hour. It's way too bright ! I love that you're in Darien l and I want to see you succeed but you need to make a few changes to appeal to more than the families eating with their kids at 5pm. read more

But why on earth was it necessary to have someone sweeping the floor next to us and for the barman to be spraying cleaning fluid close to our food at the bar....at 7:15 pm?? We were made to feel uncomfortable and unwelcome as they clearly wanted to close and basically pushed us out. We got the message. Won't be back. Shame...the food is good. read more

Best meal I (and the family) have had in a long time. A first glance at the menu suggested we could legitimately order one of everything...and we almost did. And not one thing disappointed. Oh, this was so good. The spicy guacamole was fresh and on point; the accompanying salsas were delicious (if also served in strangely small cups); the house salad, lovely and bright and so good; the rice and beans, perfect; every taco (fish, shrimp, carnitas, short rib) truly great, especially the fish taco--the best of its kind that I've had in a long, long time--and the short rib, which was magic. Both the house and skinny margaritas were excellent, both in pour and presentation. You order as you enter the restaurant, then sit and everything is served. It was seamless and efficient. The place was packed and lively, all of which made for the perfect atmosphere in which to enjoy my new favorite Mexican in CT. I can't say enough about how great this spot is. Just go. Got home a second time and the main ingredients for the chef's special is correct but gave me shredded pork not the steak I ordered! Growing up we ate fish on Fridays...if the fish were like the fish tacos at La Taqueria , I wish every day were Friday! The guacamole is fresh, smooth and the cilantro comes through perfectly. The vibe is so versatile that you could bring your children for lunch and return with your spouse for date night dinner. Great location to link up with friends.
