Olé Molé is an authentic Mexican restaurant that opened in Stamford, Connecticut in 1994. It was founded by Texas native Laura Coronado. Growing up in a Mexican heritage household, Coronado was raised on traditional made-from-scratch dishes that are commonly found in Northern and Central Mexico. Eventually she decided to open up her own restaurant at Stamford's High Ridge Shopping Center. For over 30 years, Olé Molé has been offering consumers authentic Mexican cuisine crafted with consistent quality and fresh ingredients. The menu offers traditional staples such as enchiladas, burritos, tortas, quesadillas, tacos, tamales, and tostadas. At one point, Olé Molé had additional locations in the nearby towns of Darien, Southport, and Fairfield, but they have since closed. My wife and I recently had lunch at Olé Molé. She is a Stamford native and has eaten here multiple times, but it was the first visit for me. We met up with my wife's parents. The interior is cozy and inviting. Margaritas sounded like a great way to get the fiesta started. I had the "Margarita Olé" (tequila blanco, fresh lime juice, triple sec, agave), my wife had "Mango" (tequila blanco, fresh lime juice, triple sec, agave, mango puree), and my mother-in-law had "Strawberry" (tequila blanco, fresh lime juice, triple sec, agave, strawberry puree). They were just what the doctor ordered! We also ordered some delicious "Guacamole" (fresh Hass avocado, jalapeño, onion, garlic & cilantro w/ chips) for the table. For entrees, I had the "Quesadilla Del Mar" (grilled shrimp, sliced avocado, spinach, tomato, grilled onion, Monterey Jack), my wife had the "Grilled Shrimp Fajitas" (grilled w/ peppers & onion, served w/ guacamole), my father-in-law had the "Vegetariano Burrito" (vegetables, beans & cheese w/ salsa fresca), and my mother-in-law had the "Enchiladas Suizas" (shredded chicken, vegetables & cheese in red corn tortillas, topped w/ salsa verde & mole negro). Everything tasted so fresh, flavorful, and authentic! The staff were lovely too! I had an excellent experience at Olé Molé and I would love to enjoy their Mexican food again soon! read more

A hungry traveler and a yelp app met one afternoon and Ole Mole was the result. I was looking for a spot to grab a solo quick bite and that was not too fussy this checked all the boxes. Also - Im always in the mood for tacos - so the trifecta was established. I arrived between lunch and dinner and pretty much had the spot to myself. AND as luck would have it I arrived just in time for happy hour - score! I love a fancy taco BUT at the end of the day - give me a corn tortills, some well seasoned meat, a bit of onion/cilantro and I'm a happy gal. Ole Mole again checked all those boxes. It might not look like a lot from the road (it's a tiny "blink and you'll miss it storefront) so be sure to keep your eyes pealed and make a U turn if you do. read more

I've been coming to Ole Mole for what seems like forever and really like it. The menu has a lot of options, but I seem to always gravitate towards the huevos and chorizo burrito. It is just great with savory chorizo and scrambled eggs plus meaty black beans. The best is the chipotle sauce that comes with it. Smoky and spicy it just makes the dish zing! read more

The tomato salsa was delicious, and the tacos were very fresh as well as the guacamole!! Very authentic tacos and the service was the highlight! The staff is extremely attentive; we got our tacos within 2 minutes of ordering and our guacamole in 30 seconds. The pricing was very good, and the place is very cute and comfortable, with parking on the sides and out front so it's very convenient. Just as authentic only a lot cleaner than most other places. Totally family friendly... in fact I asked Laura the sweetheart owner who was there working to change the channel for my daughter and they happily did... then my daughter got mesmerized by it so as need as we are I asked them to change it again and they did without any attitude. That's rare these days. Too many servers out there begrudgingly work. Definitely coming back soon! Plus, let's be real. We had a fantastic dinner at Ole Mole! If I lived in Stamford, I could totally see this being one of my go-to spots for Mexican. It's no-frills, good food, and pretty small inside. We went during peak dinner time on Thursday and were lucky we were able to snag a table! Everything was delicious! Some items that really stood out were the tostones and the mole sauce, which we figured would be amazing seeing that it's their namesake! We've been coming to Ole Mole since it first opened. It was a tiny storefront restaurant in Stamford. It is one of the best Mexican restaurants in the area. I have never had a bad dish there, and I've tried a wide variety of dishes from the menu. The ambiance is somewhat rustic, with bright red and blue colors. The walls are normally decorated with the paintings of local Stamford artists. The service is attentive and friendly. Tonight, I got the mahi mahi taco, which came with a delicious creamy green sauce. Other people at my party got a pork stew and a tortilla soup. Everything was delicious. In the past, I have ordered quesadillas and burritos and have never been disappointed. The only slight criticism I have now is that tonight the salsa was not as flavorful as it normally is. Also, the bar is a bit bigger than we remember it being. I don't know if they expanded the bar or something. read more

Always excellent at Ole Mole! The burrito was huge and chock full of the best ingredients instead of 60% rice. The tostada had a crunchy base and was served with a great of amount of avocado. Right off they gave us chips and salsa, which was great because we were starving. I ordered Chicken Tamales, which was fantastic. I generally don't find Chicken or no-meet Tamales (my favorite) in Mexican restaurants where I stay. So I was excited to find it here. The size of the Tamales is more like an appetizer rather than a full meal. I was fine with it as I was stealing fajitas from my wife's plate. Food was fantastic. Service is great. People are nice! 4 star only because there was a foul smell where we were initially seated (probably kitchen sink...no idea). We moved to the outdoor seating and that fixed the smell. read more

Decent Mexican food, given the area. It's a bit of a catch-all place - burritos, tacos, tostadas, etc. - you get the point. And the food is perfectly acceptable, not great, but not bad either. The only reason to go here is that every now and then something has a little spark to it - a couple of times the mole has been *stellar*. Having enjoyed Mexican fare in Kansas City, Chicago, Dallas, San Antonio and a few other places, and having written a cookbook which contains my own recipes for Chocolate Mole, Salsa Verde, Salsa Roja and more, I was pleasantly surprised to have great Mexican food served to me at Ole Mole in Stamford, CT. Since we are both fans of Chocolate Mole, my partner and I both ordered the Enchiladas Mole dinner. It came with great rice and 2 kinds of beans: refried and black. The enchiladas were covered with a bit of their chocolate mole and some Salsa Verde (which they could/should have eliminated). The chicken inside the corn tortilla contained a blend of cheese and a green vegetable, and had a great flavor. The folded flour tortilla was warm and fresh. (I would have preferred corn tortillas) The chips were crisp, fresh, warm and not greasy. The mild salsa was more like a pico di gallo, so I ordered their hotter salsa. That was HOT, but tasty. The marguerita was icy cold and had an ample amount of Tequilla. All in all, well worth the visit. read more

I ordered take out & it was a vegetarian burrito no dairy with my name.. I asked my boyfriend to pick it up for me & he went in & told them it was my order. They asked him, "She paid on the phone?" & he said yes & grabbed the bag.. Fast forward to a 20 minute drive home, he comes home & it's not my order at all ... I call them & the lady said "Oh yeah because someone else called after you & had the same name but I asked him guacamole & salsa?" & my boyfriend told me they didn't ask that. PLUS, there's no ticket / receipt on the bag to even show what's in there.. Now, I'm not going to drive 20 mins again to get my burrito so I ask them if I can get a credit or something & she says "let me ask a manager." My boyfriend is a native Spanish speaker & he heard her talking crap on the phone & making fun of us & the owner was laughing back saying "Yea right it's their fault I'm not giving them money hahahaha." So completely rude & uncalled for. How did they know we couldn't understand them making fun of the situation? Horrible experience here. I've been going here for years and I mean years about 5-6 years loyal customer. I've given them so much business brought so much business they have made so MUCH money off us! So let me explain the issue why they are getting one star. Food is okay nothing to rave none about. But this is what happened to me. My girlfriend placed an order and I picked it up. I told them the name the order was under the lady who seems new never seen her said here it is never said anything about what was in it just said here. I took it and went home this was such a long drive also. I get hone open my bag and it's the wrong order! We called them and told them the situation they said it was our fault that they told me what was in the bag! Never did they say what was in the BAG! They told us to come back and we said we can't it's a far drive they said it's our fault they couldn't do anything about it. She said hold on I will ask the manager. We could hear the whole conversation they spoke in Spanish and I know Spanish very well. The lady tried to defend her actions by saying it's our fault she told me what was in the bag. They laughed and said yeah right we won't give them credit they messed up not us. Calling us names and making fun of us after all these years? Horrible horrible horrible service. STAY AWAY better Mexican food than this anywhere else in Stamford food is cheap quality and doesn't even taste good only reason I came here was for the price. My husband and I ordered delivery at 7:58pm on a Friday. Since they close at 9pm, we figured it wouldn't be an issue because the delivery time was 20-30 min. After my husband received a text at 8:30pm that it was delivered (original delivery time was 8:45pm so we thought "great! It's early"), we realized our food was not outside our door, lobby or even building, but was never even delivered! This has happened twice now with this restaurant (first time the delivery driver actually called us to curse at us for canceling the order that we never received!). Decided to visit this place after seeing some of the reviews. The food was honestly.... Bland. The tortilla soup was in need of more spices and some cilantro. I had the chicken flautas... the chicken was shredded and was probably shredded days ago as it just mushed together in the flauta. We also had the chicken tacos, that despite all the toppings it had it was still lacking flavor. If you are looking for authentic Mexican food i wouldn't say this is the spot. Twice we've eaten here, twice we've been satisfied! It's a short hop off the Merritt Parkway when we're traveling between NYC and eastern MA, so if it's time for dinner when we're in the vicinity, we go. First trip - accidental discovery; second trip, deliberate stop! Last time we were there, I tried a shrimp in green sauce special that was really good. It was a generous portion of shrimp with zucchini and potatoes in the sauce, plus black beans and rice on the side. Very tasty. My husband had chicken quesadilla, and he said it was delicious, comparable to what we would get in the City at a good Mexican restaurant. We have not had drinks or desserts here, but we've had the guacamole which we like for a starter, and the mains have been good. The staff is very friendly, and the place is rather small but looks like most of the patrons are locals. We think that's a pretty good sign. Just moved to the area so I've been trying to check out what is around. Went here for lunch recently as it was close by. It's in a small plaza but the restaurant is decent sized and well decorated. You are given chips and salsa upon sitting, though I found the salsa to not be all that flavorful. Their guac was decent but nothing special either. They did not serve alcohol of any type so that is something to note if you are wanting a margarita with your meal! The quesadilla I had was good. Portions were normal but nothing special and I found prices to be fair. I would come back again. read more
