    Vegetarian and shrimp tacos
    Keith N.

Been sampling the local Mexican restaurants in this area and this is so far the best! I lived in Mexico for 4 years and know what it means to be authentic. We both ordered the tacos a la carte my girlfriend had the vegetarian and the shrimp with homemade corn tortillas. I ordered the tacos Al Pastor tongue and alambre. All of them were simply delicious! The chunky guacamole was also unique and flavored with lime and cilantro. Service was excellent and everyone was very friendly . We will be returning soon to sample a breakfast and a dinner but not all at once!

    Chunky guacamole!!!

I'm sorry, but I'm here right now, and they're chunky guacamole is just the best! I've had four meals here different every time and everything I've had is wonderful, authentic and homemade! Family run and wonderful

    Birria Quesadillas, worth ever penny.

Hidden gem alert in Monroe. The Birria Quesadillas will knock your socks off. Tucked away in a strip mall with just a small sign that says, "Mexican Restaurant".

From the service to the food, I cannot rave about this place enough. I got the birria tacos and they were, bar none, the best I've had around the area. The chunky guacamole was refreshing and delicious. The Tres Leches was out of this world. Please do not hesitate to stop in here when crossing through town. You will not regret it!!!

Finally took my wife on a date to Mezcal and it did not disappoint. Mezcal has been the talk of our…read moretown since it opened and I can definitely see why. The vibes and ambience take you right out of Old Bridge and throws you into a trendy NYC restaurant and bar. While Mezcal can be considered pricey, their flavors and offerings definitely lives up to the hype. We started with the beluga caviar tasting which was delicious and rich! Way better than the typical sturgeon caviar most restaurants serve. The oysters were also fresh and was served with delicious condiments. For our main entree we ordered the tomahawk for 2, with a side of corn and mashed potatoes. We loved that the steak was served with sea salt on the side that we can sprinkle on every bite. We finished our meal with flan and it was rich and decadent. It definitely put a dent in my wallet but we'll definitely be going back there soon to try their lobster risotto and other steak options! We're also excited to head back for their happy hour on Mondays!

From the moment you walk in, the restaurant makes a great first impression. The décor is beautiful and upscale, but still inviting and there are plenty of great spots for social media pictures. We started with a few lighter appetizers, but they ended up being more than enough. We shared three sets of tacos: the fish, pork, and short rib. Each order comes with two tacos, which makes them perfect for sharing and trying different flavors. The esquites were also really tasty and all paired very well. My daughter had a cheese quesadilla, which she absolutely loved. For drinks, I went with an Old Fashioned (my go to classic) while my wife ordered the "Clock It" mocktail. Both were solid choices. I also appreciated that they brought out boxed water for my daughter, which was a nice touch. What really stood out to me, though, was the service. Our waiter was attentive without being overbearing and made sure we were taken care of throughout the meal. There's also a fairly large bar right at the entrance, so you don't necessarily have to come here for a full meal. I could easily see Mezcal being a great date-night spot or a place to grab drinks and enjoy the atmosphere. There's also plenty of parking in the back, which is always a plus. Overall, I'd definitely come back. Next time, I want to try some of the main dishes. It's a higher-end restaurant, so expect the prices to reflect that, but between the food, atmosphere, service, and presentation, I thought it was well worth the experience.

On Mondays they have buy 1 get 1 free margaritas. Happy Hour Monday-Thursday and other specials on all the other weekdays. My husband and I got some cocktails, guacamole, I got the chicken fajitas, and my husband got the birria tacos. I loved my espresso martini as it had a chocolate hint too it which I feel many places don't do anymore. My husband got the peach and mango belinni where the mango flavor was stronger than the peach which I loved because I am a mango fan. My husband wished his taco shells for the birria were a bit harder/crunchier but other than that he loved the flavor. I loved my chicken fajiatas as the chicken was still very tender. It also lasted me another 2 meals after this one. Although this place is a little on the pricier side I feel like you get your moneys worth. Plus the service is good and very fast.

There were 6 of us. The waiter gave us a small basket of chips. I asked if it was possible for another basket. He reluctantly said yes but never brought them. We asked another person and they didn't bring them either. My son wanted a steak quesadilla. The waiter said that the steak in the quesadilla was chili rubbed and the only way to have it plain was to get the up-charged $10 steak. That's absurd! My 3 year old would definitely not want a chili rubbed steak. I ordered chicken quesadillas instead. They were just ok. Nothing special. They didn't come with anything so I ordered rice and beans. I found them to be overpriced and not worth it.

Our waiter did not come to take our order until a good 35-40 minutes after sitting, not a huge deal but a notable delay. What irritated me during dinner was we were asked if we'd like dessert while 2 people were still eating their meals, followed by the check immediately arriving- no etiquette. While paying and wrapping up the staff were directed to clear the table, this was obvious. For full drinks to be removed without asking is unacceptable. It was as if we weren't even sitting there the manner they were clearing. Again it was obvious the direction of the manager, they needed the table. Try being efficient to start instead of creating a rush at the end if overbooked and delayed. It's classier than putting a check on a table with people eating and rudely clearing drinks. Will not be returning. There is better up the road with real management and service.

My one friend had the same burger and said they are usually more spicy. The portion of fries was a bit small, but overall the meal was filling enough to leave me satisfied. The bar area has a nice backlit display and seats about 15. There are some high top tables in the bar area as well. We got the Pine and Passion and Spicy Rabbit!, along with beef quesadilla and some guacamole. The drink menu eat the time was limited but I believe they will have their entire menu again soon with 40+ drinks! The Spicy Rabbit was delicious and packed full of flavor. On the sweeter side but very unique cause it's made out of carrot liquor! Pine and passion super refreshing and another great choice if you don't want spicy. The guacamole and beef quesadilla were delicious as well. Earlier that day I had invited a few friends to join us who both said no, but then suddenly turned up. We popped in early Saturday evening and was maybe one of two tables (it was early on a Saturday and it's also dark inside on one of the first really beautiful, warm Spring days in NYC). The decor has changed over the years (less character, especially upstairs in the dining area), and service was overall okay. We got a few drinks, an order of chips and salsa aka Salsa Fresca, and a few food items off the menu to try. Food: Salsa Fresca (Chips and Salsa): was extremely overpriced at $10 for a small handful of half-stale chips and what felt like a tablespoon of flavorless salsa. Camarones El Diablo (Shrimp in a spicy Diablo sauce): 5 medium size shrimp for $16 in a tasty, spicy sauce, with some warmed up store-bought flour tortilla. Steak Quesadilla: the best meal one of us got - steak was a flavorful ribeye and the quesadilla overall had plenty of protein, too. It had a good balance of cheese, steak, tortilla, and pickled onions. Trio of Tacos: nothing special, and again at $20 ? Overpriced. Cocktails: One of us ordered the Mezcal Sour, and I got the Spicy Rabbit - both were not very boozy and definitely not worth $18 each. This was a bit of a disappointment, honestly. And considering what Mayahuel used to be, I hope they can make a comeback. But, based on this visit, we won't be back.
