    All of the tacos

I lived in San Diego for about 4 months and found out about Taqueria Vegiee near the end of my stay. My friend and I walked across the border to on taco tuesday hoping for some great vegan tacos, and this place DELIVERED (everything is vegan, people!!). I mean wow, I was so impressed that ended up going to TJ 2 more times just for this place. He and I are both vegan so we wanted to try everything (and why not--vegan Mexican food in Mexico? I think yes). We got each of the tacos, and they are so good! All of them! There wasn't one that we disliked, and we eat a lotttta Mexican food. The Carne Asada, the Adobada, and the shrimp were my favorites (let'sbehonest I can't choose just one) and I quite liked the vegan mayo. I put it on everything. Mmm. Oh and as for the service-they are all really nice!! Highly, highly recommend and I can't wait to come back to San Diego just so I can get some of these tacos! Yum. Thank you!

This is my vegan shrimp taco. Amazing flavor but the real shrimp texture will blow you away!

I have to say, I have really learned to love my vegan lifestyle that I have been living the last six months [although I do eat fish a couple times a month]. I came here hoping to see how their tacos were and I was shocked. Their adobada taco is one of the tastiest tacos I have ever had. NOT the best vegan taco but one of the top tacos I have ever eaten. I have some great tacos but these guys have taken faux meat to a new level. The shrimp tacos were so tasty to but the textures is what surprised me. It has the texture of real shrimp. And at the prices they charge are super reasonable. I wish I had something like this near me at home. Because they are in a Gastropub with other food option they really have something for everyone including my carnivore family would have been happy BUT tell the truth they would love. I need to come back on a weekend when they make their barbacoa tacos. Can't wait to get back. Oh, the Gastropub the are in has a great brewery and a nice little wine bar. A MUST VISIT!

This salad with Setas (oyster mushroom) was sooo good I enjoyed it so much! It had mixed lettuce beans, grilled Oyster Mushrooms tomato & cucumber with some aguacate & their dressing is home made I'm not vegetarian but I like visiting and eating here if you want to try out vegetarian food and want to make a good and comfortable transition believe me this is a first place to visit Yaaaasss in Tijuana is Always Taco Tuesday's! You wouldn't even think these are vegan tacos I had my most favorite ones Shrimp & Adobada tacos! you guys have to try them out! Cheap. Friendly. Delicious. I ordered 3 of their vegan tacos, of which I only knew what one was supposed to be due to my language inabilities, but they cashier man helped me through and I couldn't be happier with my order- especially considering it was all only about $6 total- incredible! The faux shrimp taco was def my favorite but they all came loaded and spiced to perfection. If I could do it all over again I'd probably order an extra shrimp taco and have 4 be the perfect number for my appetite, plus one giant glass of sangria that took 3 of us to finish it. There's a lot of options for food in this court but there's only one that does all veggie friendly stuff and that's here and lucky for us non-meaties, they do it right.

Incredible to find a full vegan food truck in Mexico. This is a MUST visit for any plant based foodie. Definitely suggest the shrimp taco. Bouncy with the right amount of seafood flavor. I genuinely believe this is THE best shrimp vegan taco you can find. The adobada tacos seasoned evenly and filled generously. Although, these two marvels do great as is. I highly reccomend taking advantage of the additional salsas, seasoned pickled onions and lime they have to offer. The mixed torta sounded promising but I'm sad to say it didn't impress. It comes on a wheat bun that makes the entire torta dry and even got hard and stale after leaving it out for a few minutes. I would like to see them use an alternative to the bread they're currently using.

Gobernador (MX$35) & Asada (MX$30). Gobernador has a weird, sweet coconut cheese, but it's otherwise fine. Asada was good.
    Kedar D.

La Taqueria Vegiee is a stand inside the Telefonica Gastropark. There's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, craft beer, televisions and mismatched furniture---it's hipster heaven. We got the Gobernador taco (MX$35) which was okay, but comes with a super-sweet coconut "cheese" sauce that I needed to wipe off. The Asada taco (MX$30) was much better. I think La Taqueria Vegiee makes its own vegan meats, which is really cool. Avoid the Cueritos tostada (MX$55) which consists of watery, rubbery imitation squid (octopus?) and didn't taste good at all. The Adobada tostada (MX$30) was much better and maybe my favorite thing on the menu. Unfortunately they don't have any desserts, but I'm really glad that they're around to promote the vegan food scene in Tijuana.

I was so happy to find vegan tacos in TJ! They are sooo good and I love that they have several salsa options. Heads up! the tacos are big lol I ordered 4 thinking they were made with smaller tortillas. I'd honestly go back for more tacos when Im back in TJ!

Amazing vegan tacos! I'm so glad they're there :) (will have to try the food truck in SD as well)

Vintage Tijuana spot here! Las Ahumaderas has for decades been one of the better (top 3-5, arguably…read more#1) spots in TJ for tacos - highly recommended by tourists and locals alike. Las Ahumaderas is a collection of 5-6 taquerias on one side street off Blvd. Agua Caliente, one of the main thoroughfares in TJ. The taquerias offer very solid, relatively cheap tacos and tend to stay open until super late at night (often until 4 am). Las Ahumaderas is famously nicknamed "Taco Alley" and gained some international recognition after being featured one of Anthony Bourdain's travel and food shows. I've been several times but last stopped by Las Ahumaderas in September. The most popular spot there (and my personal favorite) is Las Tres Salsas - would highly recommend checking out that taqueria first if you've never been. The most highly regarded tacos here are the adobada (pork) tacos (my personal favorite as well). Ordered two adobada tacos, one suadero (cow belly) taco, and a Sprite. The nice thing about the food and drink at Ahumaderas is that a lot of the basic items are priced the same - each taco and the sprite were 45 pesos (around $2.50 USD) each. The tacos were all well-portioned, tasty, and filling (as usual). One thing a lot of tourists don't know is Las Tres Salsas has two levels, with the second level sometimes having a decent, relaxing view and atmosphere depending on the time of day. So I ordered and ate on the second floor (ordered from the server for that floor). Cash (dollars or pesos) are by far the most common method of payment but credit cards are also accepted at Las Tres Salsas and I think the other taquerias at Ahumaderas as well. If you don't speak Spanish there's usually someone at the register who speaks enough English to get by though the server I had that afternoon happened to speak very good English. Right after Las Tres Salsas I went to Tacos El Paisano, one of the other taquerias in the establishment. Ordered 1 asada (steak) taco, 1 cabeza (cow's head) taco, and a Fresca soda. Like Las Tres Salsas, all of the items were 45 pesos each. The tacos here were also good, though not as good as Las Tres Salsas; both of the tacos fell apart a bit due to being slightly soggy (though again they were good). I'm a picky eater but there are a wide variety of tacos, quesadillas, and other items to try between the handful of taquerias at Ahumaderas. Las Ahumaderas is about a 13-15 minute walk down Agua Caliente from Telefonica Gastro Park, another excellent foodie location in TJ. Must visit if you've never been before!

It came highly recommended by both locals and fellow food lovers, and after seeing the incredible reviews, we knew we had to experience it for ourselves. We ordered a little bit of everything: tacos de tripa, tacos al pastor, tacos de asada, and an asada quesadilla. Every single item was packed with flavor and tasted incredibly fresh. The tripas were perfectly crispy without being greasy, the al pastor was juicy, well-seasoned, and had that classic balance of savory and slightly sweet flavors, and the asada was tender with a delicious char-grilled flavor. The asada quesadilla was generously filled with meat and gooey melted cheese, making it the perfect complement to the tacos. One thing I really appreciated was how convenient the ordering process is. They have a drive-through style setup where you simply pull up and park in front of the restaurant. An employee comes directly to your car to take your order, and once your food is ready, they bring it right out to you. It's such an easy and efficient experience, especially if you're eager to grab amazing food and get back on the road. It's easy to see why this place has earned such a stellar reputation. Between the authentic flavors, generous portions, friendly service, and convenient setup, this was the perfect way to kick off our trip into Mexico. I'll definitely be making this a tradition every time I cross the border.

The Zona Rio location has a small dining area, that is very popular with both the locals and visitors. It is easy to see why. Their menu does not over dose on the standard morning and afternoon items that you would find anyplace. However, this is the first restaurant I've been to in Tijuana, that does not have an English menu.... so I had to labor through the Spanish menu. But, they do have unique dishes, thus making the visit adventurous, because it is difficult to choose. I went back and forth, and finally settled for their 3-egg omelet with asparagus and sheep cheese. It came with refried beans, strings of carrots and beets, small fired up tostadas and fresh tortillas (both blue and yellow corn). A small side of soggy chilaquiles was also served. A small flavorful salsa tray is also provided with 3 options, ranging from mild to hot. The asparagus spears were thin, cut up into small pieces and sautéed with mild spices. The outer egg covering soft and not overdone. If anything, there was too much sheep cheese, in certain portions of the omelet. I say this because it was an asparagus omelet, and it, instead of the cheese, should have been the star. Still, it did not take away from the other commendable aspects of the complete entree and its accompaniments. Before the meal, a small refreshing fruit plate is served.
