Giving this 4 stars only based on the food as I got it to go! But, Definitely check this place out... ordered myself the empanadas de verde (green plantain) and was surprised that they warmed up beautifully the next morning since I had gotten them to go after a 6 hours road trip to this place. Now I am wishing I would have grabbed more stuff to reheat and have the next day and/or gotten there with time to sit and enjoy the food but life, so here we are. Also ordered their fanesca as it is Holy Week... I will update when I warm that up and have it for lunch or dinner. One point on the fanesca they do not serve it with the little empanadas unfortunately or at least not with a to go order. Update: so I did have half of the fanesca for lunch, popped it in the microwave for 2:30 and it was piping hot and delicious! Had the 12 grains, cod, and came with the typical garnishes that I added to the top as I plated it at home. Fanesca!! Really good and with most of the typical garnishes: parsley, cheese, boiled egg, maduro (fried sweet plantain) and avocado. Just missing the small cheese flour empanadas as a garnish, but still amazing flavor! 10/10 The portion is plenty I am having the rest of it for dinner! Definitely give this place a shot if for nothing else the food as a to go option if you don't have the time or patience to look for parking. read more

Very good authentic Ecuadorian food. Large portions and delicious. It is a small place but it packs a punch.

Parking can be a hit or miss and you must park on the street with no garage nearby. A small restaurant with a small bakery as I could smell the fresh bread being made today, 01/03/25. The tables and floor need better care. I understand it's busy during lunch time due to their almuerzo that comes with soup and main dish but a bit more of an eye on cleaning could be done. I still give it three stars because there was only one waitress/cashier so I understand why it could be hard to keep up. The food from the updated menu was good. For some reason all the dishes I ordered came with beet salad which looked like it had better days. The guatita was tasty, camarón encocado as well. The hornado mixto was okay. The meat was tender, llapingachos a bit bland but overall a decent meal considering I do not have any other Ecuadorian options nearby. The churrasco was decent too with tender meat with tomatoes and onions. Will I come back? Yes. No other Ecuadorian options around here do I I'll settle for this place once in a while. I want to start off by saying that the reviews here are misleading. I'm in Baltimore for work and took an Uber to come here because of the reviews. . Never had anything worst than this in my entire life. This place is an insult for Ecuadorian food. I ordered shrimp ceviche and it was a soup of onion with some heavy tomato soup made out of can. The seco de chivo no flavor, disgusting, hard, old and overheated. If you are a tourist looking for food latin/Ecuadorian food, please do yourself a favor and don't come to this place. IFYKYK. I don't think Latin food is all that good around Baltimore so I've been dodging them all since I got here except for 2-3 places. Baltimore doesn't exactly attract as a multicultural crowd as dc, nyc, or la so you'd be lucky if you find a banh mi with pate within city limits. I took a chance with this place and I'm glad I did because it's just like what I had in Ecuador. As we know homemade food reigns supreme but like this almost reached the levels of the amazing Christmas dinner I had down in Ecuador with a former partners extended Ecuadorian family. The food is favorable. The portion for the guatita was small. The service was nice. Ambiance is chill. Doesn't get packed. Street parking available. The restaurant is small and clean and has a nice selection on offer. Prices seemed fair, until I I actually got my dish. I would definitely say skip the seafood dishes here because you get a lot of rice and few shrimp with seafood dishes. The shrimp in coconut sauce ($19, I think) had too few shrimp even for my ten-year old nephew. The sopa de mariscos ($20) is crazy because it's actually loaded with shrimp the size of your pinky nail, and only a small amount of normal sized shrimp, and they are cooked super hard. The clams strips are super skinny. On the positive side, there were no off flavors, and the crab was especially good. Things tasted clean and fresh, despite the size and overcooking. The food was good, but not great. Just ok for me. I can't say it was worth the wait. My husband had the hornado ecuatoriano. I definitely like the llapingacho (mashed potato cake) with my husband's pork dish. It was crispy outside and creamy inside. Overall, his dish was ok, but the meat could use more flavor to me. The restaurant is a busy spot though. Maybe it's just not my favorite cuisine. I'd have to try it elsewhere to know. The service was okay. I would say cordial, but not much more, and I do speak Spanish. We waited like an hour, and didn't even get drinks until probably 10 minutes before the food. We only got one napkin for four people and all flatware for all of us was wrapped up together and not really the right mix of things (not a fork, spoon, and knife for each). I asked for a napkin, and she came back with someone else's plate and no napkin for us. I had a seafood dish with shellfish, so I really needed a napkin for my sticky hands. It even took longer than necessary to get the check, but not an exaggerated amount of time. The restaurant was full of people finishing their meals when we ordered, and then we watched a bunch of takeout orders be picked up while we waited, and the one person who came after us had very little wait after us. I'm not sure what happened there. There were four of us, but they had served a table of like 6 that was finishing when we got there. Other positives: clean bathrooms, easy street parking. Great little spot! I'm very familiar with with Peruvian (studied there) and Bolivian (married to one!) food but Ecuadorian was new to me and I enjoyed it a lot. The restaurant is pretty humble, it's on a corner in a neighborhood near Hopkins Bayview and from the outside looks a bit like a typical Baltimore neighborhood dive bar, but the food is excellent with big portions and excellent prices! Horneado equatoriano is my recommendation; especially if you like Caribbean/Filipino lechón. I hope to go back soon! read more

Sweet, cheerful, little corner restaurant serving (obviously) Ecuadorian food. I'm not familiar with this cuisine, but I am familiar with ceviche, and the variation I had they was que rico! It was more of a cold soup than the version I'm familiar with, but was fresh and bright. I wouldn't hesitate to order again, and look forward to trying some of their other dishes. As far as atmosphere, service was friendly and there was no trouble communicating. Focus in the restaurant seems to head towards the TV playing a Spanish-language station. First time trying ecaudorian food and it was fantastic. I got the steak with rice and beans. Portions were generous. Though it was a tough cut of meat, it was cooked and flavored very well. Rice and plantains were great. Genorous portions. My wife got the coconut shrimp curry with rice and she enjoyed this very much as well. Service was great. 5 stars all the way. This place is super authentic! The lady that took our order did not speak a lick of English, but luckily Kristin was there to help translate.
