His show EYECONS was such a highlight of our trip that I'm still talking about it to anyone and everyone who will listen! We've been coming to KW for three decades and our evening at La Te Da was one of the best ever! Filled with lots of laughter, great audience interaction, and astounding talent it was a joyous experience even if Marilyn seemed to think my 30-year-old diamond wasn't up to snuff ;) Watching Mr. Peterson transform himself into a host of iconic women right before our eyes was its own special kind of wonderful. A shining example of outstanding service and value in the sea of hotel choices that is Key West. Located on Duvall's street south end, the location is outstanding. But it's the dedication to service and lovely decor that sets it apart. Our room on the second floor was clean, spacious and comfortable. Great. King size bed. Breakfast comes with the room but doesn't start until 8:30 am. We had to catch our excursion boat at 8:30. And the staff whipped up a quick and delicious breakfast for us anyway ( the la Te da special). Wonderful pool steps away from the room. Excellent bar and drinks, and the cabaret show was entertaining. Everybody had a smile and an offer to help with whatever. We loved it! read more

Dinner was perfection and Michael our server was outstanding. Burrata salad had yummy heirloom tomatoes with a balsamic reduction and so delicious. The crab cakes were just like we are used to coming from Maryland! Lump and no filler. The meatloaf was slo delicious with the most creamy mashed potatoes ever. My husband and I attended the Christopher Peterson Cabaret show and it was definitely worth it! Christopher did an amazing job impersonating the female icons, sang his own songs and had a great voice. He never left the stage even while changing into the next character and kept us entertained the entire time. It was packed so I recommend buying your tickets online and getting there at 8:00 PM when the doors open to get a good seat. It was a fun evening! read more

The people who run this place hit the ball out of the park. This place is a top spot to stay or play in Key West. We stayed here a few years ago and the rooms were so nice. We went back last weekend and found the place to still be on point. Incredibly charming place to stay, eat or drink. The room rates I feel are slightly cheaper than what the place is worth so that's good too. The food and drink are good and prices fair. When you see the sign, just stop in. You'll love the place. The service was awful, but the food was decent. Our server was "foreign" according to the manager, hence the problems we had. The manager threw our bill on the table and said "pay with cash!". The waitress got two out of four orders wrong, then brought the wrong thing twice to the table. She also brought us someone else's order. She removed our coffee pot without asking us. We had to tell her to return it. We were there over two hours for breakfast! The worst part was that management did not care so I recommend not eating there. Worst experience in a very, very long time, maybe ever! It is possible that they only cater to their hotel guests. It was quite disturbing the manner in which we were treated. Just stayed here 7/22-7/26/16 and we absolutely loved it!!!!! PERFECT location right on Duval St, stores nearby... a 5 guys burger place I found licking my wounds one morning at 11:00am wondering why I wouldn't listen to that little voice telling me to stop doing shots. The staff, bartenders even the entertainment (Randy Roberts & the band 3some) learn your name!!! Food was AMAZING!!!!!!! Probably the best chicken wings EVER, oh and crab cakes too. Oh wait their yellow tail snapper to. The food is OUTSTANDING!!!!! We were in room 32, tucked away on the 2nd floor with one other room. Such a cozy, welcoming place. This is DEFINITELY the only place we'll stay on our next trip to Key West... in October & January!!!!!! We booked both before leaving this time we loved it so much. read more

Wow amazing to be out and about in Key West My husband and I drove down to get away from lock down KW just opened back up. Stopped here and one of our faves for lunch about a dozen People 6ft apart food amazingly good service was excellent everyone just glad to be back and out. Super cool and super swank dahlin!! Okay, first of all, I did not know anything about this joint. We were looking for a place to protect ourselves from the harsh sun, and just happened to go to this place. While we were pondering what to do next (while sitting by the bar area,) one their lovely people came over and offered both hubby and I a free drink! Apparently, they have a new drink that they were trying out - and yes, we took it!! During our stay, I moseyed my way into the girl's room and I walked by a cute dance area and a pool amidst all of it! how cool is that? Plus a small lounge drinking area on the side part of the place. The Randy Roberts show here is really quite good! He comes out as Bette Midler, Cher (my favorite) and then just as himself (herself?) and boy can she sing! This is no lip synched show. She sings and dances and engages the audience like nothing else. And given the group I was with was a little conservative, I was happy to see everyone laughing and having a good time. And the costumes? Girl, I wish I had hips and legs like you! If you want to be "picked on" sit toward the front of the theater and you will probably be a part of the show as it progresses. I also loved that Randy stayed after to take pictures and sign autographs. The highlight of my night? Was when Randy sang as Randy. Now that guy can perform! A fun night in Key West! read more

We had some hiccups while visiting Key West but we took a chance on the La Te Da and had a FANTASTIC time!!! Randy Roberts was so entertaining and he is so talented that anyone in the audience had to have a really memorable evening. We have told everyone we know about the absolutely super entertainment with Randy and the La Te Da. All of the folks were very polite and welcoming.....could not give their show a higher rating....thank you Randy Roberts and the La Te Da....you made our Key West vacation and now we have to plan to return. read more

Hardly lives up to its reputation. We (two of us) were very disappointed in just about everything. My fish "special" was special; it was fishy, greasy, and tasteless. The paltry and pathetic appetizer salad - with four lettuce leaves, 1/2 a strawberry, a couple cubes of feta cheese, and a grape - took exactly 10 seconds to eat. In the inimitable words of Donald Trump "too bad!" The waiter never refilled our wine, or water, and because the chef messed up one our our meals, he oh-so generously offered us complimentary dessert. We ordered the brownie with ice cream (delicious) and carrot cake (fair to ok). Lo and behold, when the (somewhat expensive) bill was presented, we were apparently entitled to ONE on-the-house dessert; they had the audacity to charge us $10 for a piece of cake on a $250 dinner tab. With all the dinner choices in Key West, we certainly could have found better. Too bad.... read more

Went to the cabaret here last week with my wife and another couple. Going in - had no idea what to expect. Coming out - we were all glad we went. Haven't laughed out loud that much in a long, long time. Christopher Peterson is an amazing entertainer who left us wanting more when the curtain closed. He put on a laugh a minute show and his female impersonations are amazing. Highly recommend for a fun filled evening. Note, some of his stuff is on the edge so maybe not a show to attend with Grandma or your uncle, the priest. The drinks are reasonably priced here as well. There's a two drink minimum per person and the four my wife and I had came to just over $40. A five star evening for sure! read more

Evening began with martini's outdoors at the bar and were incredible! The bartender knew what she was doing and made excellent drinks! Dinner was another story. The service was fine, but the French onion soup was awful and the broth was too salty. The stuffed chicken entree should be removed from the menu. The chicken tasted old and the shrimp over pasta was awful. Sun-dried tomatoes were not needed. Pasta flavor was a cross between vinegar and lemon. I only ate the shrimp. I don't know of another establishment that does anything with the class and service of this place. We've stayed here in the past and nothing but good things to stay. We stopped by this time around for a drink and I had a very tasty mimosa. Everything was sparkling clean. The staff there was smiling and friendly. They do it right here and I would look for that place first to stay next time I'm there. It was my first time going to see a Cabaret show, so, I wasn't expecting much from Christopher Peterson's Icons show. I have to say this: I was completely BLOWN away by his sharp comedic timing and entertaining vocal performance that he gave. I felt like I was a witness of a scene in the movie, The Birdcage! You're going to pass a few other drag shows on the way with performers out on the streets heckling you and beckoning to come in. My understanding is that those shows are just lip-singing and not as much performance value there. I'd never been to a drag show before and my fiance and I were in Key West, so her being a veteran of a few shows and me being a square straight guy, I thought it would be a great time. Randy's show was incredibly funny and showcased an entertaining array of irreverence, jokes and merciless taunting of the squares in the crowd. Special note for the venue - the table behind us talked the ENTIRE time. Sure, this is a live performance with some joking, etc, not the ballet but sometimes we couldn't understand the songs or jokes because the table was so loud. read more

We visited La Te Da at the recommendation of our hotel bartender. While we did not eat there, we did attend two drag cabaret shows. The first show we saw was Christopher Peterson. At first we were shocked by the price--$32 per person in addition to a mandatory two-drink minimum per person. However, by the end of the show, my husband and I both agreed that the show was more than worth what we paid for it. I can confidently say it was among the best drag shows I have seen. The drinks were expensive but good--I did the key lime pie martini and would recommend it. Christopher was phenomenal. He sang his own songs, which is immediately a plus for me. His looks were on point and remarkable. What really pushed the show over the edge was that he changed his outfits on stage while speaking with the audience. I have never been to a show like this before and it completely elevated it. A caveat though, which pertains to many of the drag shows on the island--for a packed house, there were maybe two other gay men aside form us this night. This was not a problem, but is something to be aware of. Because we enjoyed Christopher's show so much, we bought tickets to see Randy Roberts two days later. We were less impressed with Randy. Don't get me wrong, his looks were amazing and he sang his own songs (with an amazing voice), but we were comparing to Christopher's show at this point. A lot of the songs were not overly recognizable. Randy left the stage between outfits and showed videos. There were technical difficulties at one point with the videos. Again, there was only one other openly gay couple in the house this night. The awkward part is that we were sat at the same table as the couple (who we had never met), as if they were trying to keep the gays together--my husband actually asked if there was somewhere else we could sit and the only response we received was that it was a sold out house. It is worth noting that we pre-purchased out tickets this night, including needing to give our names, so we did not expect issues with seating as a result. Overall, I would say if you have the time and money to go to both shows, they are definitely both entertaining. If you can only do one show or only want to do one show, Christopher as much better. Final recommendation, get there early, even if you pre-purchased your tickets. read more

I picked LaTeDa to celebrate my birthday in the Keys along with my sister. We booked online with the hotel and picked room, 26 on the ground floor by the pool. The only drawback when we arrived was the view...of the huge meat locker doors directly in front of our porch/entrance. I took a star off for that as we were supposed to have a view of the pool. The room itself was nice with lovely decor and amenities and a huge walk in shower. We did have a problem getting hot water so we ended up taking cold showers most of the time. However they were the only drawbacks, the rest of our stay was fabulous! We spent the weekend there and it was busy when we tried to find a parking place in the residential area (the hotel has no parking available), especially since the rental company had given us a monster sized SUV. In the end we paid a couple of homeless gentlemen to find us a parking space, which they did really quickly! I promised them if they looked after the car for the weekend and made sure it wasn't dinged or broken into I would give them another $5. They were there waiting for us when we left with the car in perfect condition...lol! All our parking problems solved :P We had dinner at LaTeDa that night and enjoyed the ambience by the pool. I had a veggie pasta dish and Sis picked the crab cakes and both were delish! Wine choices were very good and our waiter was a absolute sweetheart. Once he found out it was my birthday he made sure we had decorations on our table and he also arranged a table for us for the cabaret show which we had pre booked. The cabaret show in the upstairs bar was fantastic. You have to see it. Funny, raunchy, sparkly, witty, glittery and oh soooo sexy! Costumes were to die for and boy could that artist sing! The Marilyn Monroe impression was our favourite. After the show we drifted down to the bar where a couple were belting out tunes and everyone was dancing, so of course we joined in. We finished the night in a bar up the street with a gay couple staying at the hotel watching raunchy cabaret acts and having a great time. Breakfast at the hotel was from a small menu and I picked the scrambled eggs each morning. They brewed fresh decaf coffee for me which I appreciated. We ate at the front of the open air bar watching the Keys wake up and start the day. We didn't swim in the compact pool but we did sit on the side and dip our toes in and it felt sooo good on a hot day. We enjoyed our stay at LaTeDa. It is walking distance to the beach, shops, bars, restaurants, nightclubs and even Ernest Hemingway's house. Staff were excellent and everyone friendly who went the extra mile to make your stay comfortable. read more
