We've been here twice this week. Always so good! Love the tortas and tacos and margarita buckets.

I got to try out their food the other day at my friend's birthday party and I liked it so much, I came back two days later! I got there around 11:30 and there were only a few people. After I looked at the menu, I decided to get 1 chicken and 1 steak taco. I think I waited all of five minutes and my food was brought out to me. I loved the chicken taco the other day when I first had it today, and today was no different. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and I loved that the portions were plentiful. The steak taco was pretty good but didn't wow me. I opted not to get any chips and guacamole but the ones I had at my friend's party were delicious! The restaurant is spacious and the menu offers a plethora of options. I'll admit this is a bit of a drive but if I'm in the area, I'll def stop by.

Hadn't eaten here in quite some time. I always say I loved it more when it was just a hut. We sat inside because it was a hot day. I ordered 2 chicken tamales with beans and rice and guac and chips. Everything was missing flavor. How could this be with Mexican food? I grabbed salt and limes to help the guac. It tasted like smashed avocados. It was fresh. The beans and rice lacked flavor. The tamales were so bland. The masa was completely flavorless. Again, how is this possible?! Needless to say I ate it because I paid for it. The guac was fire after I spruced it up. PLEASE bring back the flavorful food you all used to sell!

Got street tacos and burrito. tacos had a lot of meat filling! The burrito with asada was good. Lots of rice filling and it came with chips. The pickled green beans were so spicy but tolerable. Had an outside patio and fast service too

One of my go to places on Cherokee Street. You order your food and receive a text when it is ready. There is a large patio. Guacamole - recommended There are multiple options for children. I enjoyed the Torta and quesadilla on two separate occasions. My experience has been that the food shines above meeting expectations. If you are in the neighborhood, then I would suggest you stop by.

We stopped by La Vallesana right when they opened on a Sunday. Parking is street only, but is relatively easy to find. The restaurant is essentially self-serve-- you order at the counter, provide a phone number, and they text you to grab it when your food is ready on a tray. They have outdoor and indoor seating as well. We love the tacos and the burritos here! I particularly enjoy the wide variety of meats they have and everything is very flavorful (especially with the flavored rice in the burritos). The red salsa was a bit too smoky for us, but we enjoyed the freshness of the green salsa. They recently raised their prices but everything is still relatively affordable ($3.25 per taco, $10 per burrito). You can also order online and pickup from their website. Only downside is they don't provide you with water, so either bring a water bottle or be prepared to go thirsty if you don't want to purchase a drink!

Went on Labor Day. Sat outside. No waiters. You order your food at the counter and then go get it when it's ready. The chips and salsa are not free but this place is not TexMex, it's authentic Mexican. They have some of the best tacos we've ever had. The Margaritas were phenomenal too. No salt, no cute glass, no lime but they were amazing. Only negative is the salsa isn't great. Chips were good though. We'll be back.

Nice spot on Cherokee, staff was friendly when ordering and picking up food. Loved getting to order food and sit on the patio. The tacos were so good and the corn loved the soda also! Only spot I go in Cherokee check it out next time !

If you're looking for some great margaritas and authentic Mexican food- you just found it. We sat outside and ordered a couple of margaritas, chips, salsa, queso and quesadillas and were wowed by the food. Everything had a little kick to it but wow the flavor was amazing. The outdoor area is the spot to be at, but you will have to order inside first.

I visited La Vallesana on a Friday night. Before the pandemic, this used to be one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in St. Louis. However, the pandemic understandably forced many businesses to change up their model, and la Vallesana just isn't what it was before. The food here isn't bad. However, it is nothing to rave about, and the prices are a bit higher than you would get at nearby Mexican restaurants. I ordered a torta de cabeza, which was relatively small and the bread was a bit dry. You can get a much better and cheaper torta across the street at El Torito or Latinoamericana. It is also pricey considering that post-pandemic, La Vallesana has moved to a bit of a self-service model. You order at the counter, and you get a text when you can pick up your food. You're paying a lot for very little food and service. They do carry house-made ice cream and popsicles, which are delicious! I especially like the pistachio ice cream from Vallesana. All things considered, there are much better Mexican restaurants on Cherokee for the price.

One side of the menu, ice cream looked so good!

Food: This is by far the most authentic Mexican I have had in St. Louis. I went to Mexico twice last year and this is even more authentic than I got in Cancun the second time I went. I got a spicy a spicy shrimp burrito with fries! The salsa both red and green is to die for too! Service: You order at the front and then go get your food when they text you. The lady working was nice and the business had a family-run feel which made the service even better. Ambiance: I alluded to this earlier but this is about authentic as it comes! Took me right back to the countryside of Mexican. Plenty of seating, a bar with a lot of drinks, ice cream, and plenty of seating. You can't bet this place. Also bonus points for the Mexican grocery store being right there and getting some sweet bread afterwords, definitely recommend it!

The food is amazing! My family and friends love this place as well. We go about once or twice a month! The service is phenomenal and it's a casual location. They have drinks where you can add a shot in it, they also have desserts and paletas. There's also a kids menu.

I wasn't super hungry so we got chips and salsa and guacamole to share and my friend got the chicken fajita. The salsa comes with two different salsa options, both were a bit spicy. The guacamole was classic and came out with a cute serving spoon. They had lots of food options but it's a bit more expensive than most Mexican spots in the city. I think my friend was a little disappointed that there was an up charge to add vegetables to her fajita and the portion wasn't as big as she thought it might for a $20 plate, but it tasted good. Super nice service and cute on the inside. They have a back patio that's very big and heated. Street parking.

We chose inside and although they have a couple tables out front, I realized they have a super cute patio out back. Our server, Obed, was friendly and explained everything we needed to know as well as answering all the questions! He was great! I had eaten a big lunch, so I ordered a couple of sides, Poblano Rajas and Half-Smashed Black Beans no cotija. For the table, my daughter's ordered the Classic Queso, and Chips & Salsa Two-Ways. The Queso was good but those salsas? They were really great. The red was smokey, which I love and not a lot of places do, and the green was a spicy pineapple, I think, it was so good! There was a Handmade Limeade ordered and it was so refreshing! I enjoyed the sides I ordered; I tasted the Al Pastor Empanadas, delicious and more so with that green salsa - sweet and spicy! Great spot I am glad we tried. Would love to return for a pitcher of margaritas when I am not driving!

For context, our go-to Mexican restaurant is a solid 4 stars, and while this didn't quite reach that level, it still has potential.I ordered the birria tacos, which were decent but unfortunately lacked depth in seasoning. A few others in my party ordered different entrees and shared the same sentiment--the food was fresh, but the flavors just needed to be dialed up a bit. On the positive side, the house salsa served with the chips was excellent and had great flavor. The restaurant itself is very nice and clean. The service was just okay; the staff was pleasant, but not quite as attentive as we hoped. We had to flag our waitress down a couple of times. It is a promising spot that just needs a few tweaks to its seasoning and service consistency!

It's been a few weeks since I had any pocket cash to go out to eat... so I decided to pick a food…read moresource at random for a Saturday afternoon, and I'm SO GLAD I did... You know how they say one of the best things about Mexico is the food? I have to admit, I would honestly wouldn't know and just have to trust the stories I've heard, as I've never been lucky enough to go to Mexico.... But all my life I've heard stories about people who go and basically remind you.. NEVER hit a restaurant for _authentic_ Mexican food. You want to hit the street vendors. Well, St. Louis has a fantastic surprise.. Now you can do that right here in the city! Part of a three-restaurant set up, Amigo Sole is the "street vendor" restaurant that's not on the street. (And having met the owner of the full set-up, I'm REALLY hoping i get invited to the grand opening of Jekyll & Hyde) As it was middle of the day Saturday, I didn't ask for anything alcoholic (so i don't know if the reviewer that asked for alcoholic beverages and was told they didn't have any was just unlucky or if it was true.) But I'll take a Mexican Coke over American Coke any day of the week (NO, get your minds out of the gutter.. not that powdered one!). Anyway, I went simple for a quick stop, and went with the Chicken Bomb. at the recommendation of the cashier and he was quick to name this one off.. (and always remember cashiers, have a favorite READY, so thumbs up to the cashier on this one!) . And then to my amazement.. no more than 5 minutes later, HOT, tasty, cheesy, chicken quesadilla style BOMB-diggity! (Ironically this one is not listed on the website menu, only the instore menu? Come on Sole, online is everything today :) ) Absolutely delicious food.. and absolutely messy too, as it literally would fall apart in my hands.. (HEY, that's a good thing!) As for the decor.. 100% true, as Amigo Sole definitely has SOUL! (and lots of soles!). Again Amigo Sole isn't designed to be a 'great sit down' restaurant, it's designed to be street-vendor FUN!!!! and with what decoration they have, it pulls it off fantastically in my opinion. So just based on my meal, what the owner told me about the Amigo Sole, you're getting EXACTLY what you're promised a Mexican street vendor serving fantastic Mexican street vendor food, only with a roof over your head the entire time. During the meal, met again (Who i believe to be) the owner of the store and talked with him about Amigo Sole and how amazing it was to me... and he told me about the three-restaurant combination. (And I apologize sir, but I completely forgot your name when we talked!). even mentioning they share three kitchens when it gets busy (so I was kinda lucky as i think the rain scared everyone out for the day), but I'm still hoping for the Jeckyll & Hyde invitation! (I'll even pretend to find a date if I have to for the upscale part!)
