So I had La Tolteca in downtown Baltimore by the Harbor and it was wonderful. The cheese perfectly melted and distributed throughout my quesadilla, although the rice was some crap. Now here in Aberdeen, because I work here the pickings are slim as to lunchtime meals and I was hoping for another amazing meal but that is not what I got. The quesadilla, thoughout not disgusting, was very bland, dry and oddly put together. When I opened the quesadilla, the meat was on the right side ONLY, the beans in the middle, and the cheese (yes a lump of cheese) on the left side. I attempted to mix everything together but it seemed as though my plate had been sitting awhile because that cheese was immovable (real word, look it up lol). Ironically, the rice from this restaurant was delish so if only I oculd somehow get the two restaurants to work together, we may be in business. Anyways, with a lack of options in Aberdeen, this is restaurant is an "eh...ok" type of place in which I am less than likely to return. read more

The BEST thing this restaurant has is the Guacamole Mex, guacamole made from scratch. It was SO good that my wife who never eats guacamole was fighting to finish it all. With that said, that is the EXCEPTION, When I recently picked up an order of Guacamole Mex, Pork Carnitas, a taco and an echilada for carryout. The hostess/takeout order walked away when I arrived and disappeared for 20 minutes! Then after I placed the order, she disappeared again causing others to wait just as long. During my time waiting for my order (30 minutes), one guy sent chips back because they were too greasy, another sent an order back because it was chicken and not steak as ordered. A bad sign of things to come. When I got my order, which was placed correctly, home (30 miles away) and sat down to eat. The Pork was SO dry that it was barely edible. The few pieces I could eat tasted like they had been sitting under a heat lamp for atleast 3 hours! The sauces on the food were watery and not very tasty. The taco was slopped together so poorly that I have seen better food prep at a Taco Bell, which isn't saying much. However, the guacamole mex is superb. If you go to this restaurant, get the guacamole mex and LEAVE. The Service is nonexistent, the food is bad (minus the guacamole) and they act like they don't care. read more

Just passing though... Thought it was a good idea to go get some Mexican food. So after we got checked into our hotel we headed over the La Tolteca after reading on here it didn't sound so bad... We were wrong! We got to the restaurant around 8:45 pm got seated. Our waitress was a little off. We ordered an appetizer and we told her that we weren't sure what we wanted for food just yet, and she just stood there for awhile. We finial ordered our food. My boyfriend got a margarita which was a concoction of random alcohol. Which even he couldn't even drink it. It was to bitter... Way to bitter... we had our food come out quick which was weird. I got a marinated steak with refried beans and it was suppose to come with rice... nope it came with a heaping pile of lettuce. The steak was cooked with a lot of oil. Literally had been dripping with oil. I could barely even take a couple of bites with out gagging on brown oil on the steak. I even had my boyfriend try it. He even had to spit it out. Now I never complain when I go into a restaurant. Not my thing. Don't want the attention. Oh well I said to myself. After taking bite I was done. I didn't even enjoy my meal. Also isn't really nice having to wait 15 to 20 minutes for the check. The waitress was to occupied on her phone in a booth with other staff... All in all I was really upset and wanted to warn people before they go here. read more

All I have to say is WHERE IS LILLY!!!!I am a regular who by all accounts enjoy my drinks and food at this establishment. However came in tonight 7/2/18 around 9:00 pm and the place was a mess. The bar was filled with empty beer cans and dirty dishes. Maybe because there was no bar tender working the bar! NO Bartender ...I repeat "where is Lilly". For those that don't know Lilly is a great bartender. She makes this place come to life!!! At any rate I sat at that bar for a good ten mins before one of the waiter felt sorry for me and decided I deserved some attention. maybe if they would have put a sign up that read"NO BARTENDER ON DUTY" maybe I wouldn't have waited so long to get service and would have asked for some help. Again can't get over how messy the place was. The ambiance was non existent and the works where on a mission to close the place down. So I ordered fish tacos on corn tortillas and they came out on flour:(. I did miss having Lilly around this visit but most of all I miss seeing the manager...they too must have been out of order!!! So in the end the food was just ok although it is never great except for the pork tacos on Tuesdays. The waitress Diana did her best and was attentive but she was no bartender she definitely was no LILLY...Poor management and mediocre service..you guys can do better!! read more

Basic Mexican food, well prepared and hot. Good service. Nothing too exciting but nothing bad either. I would eat here again.

The food here is awesome. I've eaten at quite a few Mexican restaurants and along with Anita's down in Northern Virginia, this is the tops. Their handmade Guacamole is done at the table and you can ask for changes in the ingredients (no onion, add extra Jalepeno's, etc). The White Salsa is completely addictive, be careful! I have not had a bad thing here ever. They will change just about anything you need (my kid is pretty picky) and are great for Birthdays too. I've eaten at the three locations (Aberdeen, Churchville, Bel Air) and all are very good. read more

Love the chimichangas and shrimp quesadilla. Fast service. Accurate. Excellent for large groups with short lunch break. Friendly servers.

Terrible service. Was charged the wrong amount and given the wrong food, the food was cold because it sat on the counter for over a half hour. Staff never checked on us, most terrible place in Aberdeen. Staff also played personal music way to loud. Place has gone hill since Don left. read more

We stayed at La Quita as well. Guacamole gets my vote for outstanding too! My wife ordered chicken taco salad with no shell and I ordered P off the veggie menu. Served both a white and red sauce with chips. Service was excellent and food very good. $3.99 happy hour mararitas not bad either. Recommend+. read more

Im a big fan of La Tolteca both in Bel Air and Churchville but was very dissapointed when i visited their new location in Aberdeen, poor service, at best i had to go look for my own refill eaven though they wern't busy at all and when my food came out it was wrong not the way I ordered it ugghhh, my server seemed to not understand what i wanted and no manager arround to talk too, whatt??? the person in charge was another server which was of no help, I ended up eating only half of my plate, after another long wait for my check got up, left and paid never to return here again read more

Me and My wife went there and It was very Bad I order the Mexican Wings and they where frozen on the inside and the Waiter did not wright our order down on a note pad so he got the drinks wrong and our food wrong I just wanted my money back so I could leave and never come back. read more

My family and I went to the Aberdeen, MD location, and I can safely say I wont be back. First off, we received no silverware, and even after we asked for 3 sets we received 2, and one of them had no fork. After ordering my drink, it took over 10 minutes for it to come. Then my wife ordered "fresh guacamole" from the cart, and it was so bland and tasteless she did not finish it. We ordered our food, and it took 45 minutes for them to bring out my wifes meal. My wife ordered some three piece dish (burrito, chalupa, taco combo) and her food has so greasy that when she picked it up it immediately fell apart. Also, the "mexican rice" was not fully cooked as it had a crunch to it. I ordered the three carne asada tacos (#116), and the quantity of meat on them was so small, I combined them into one taco just to make it edible. I could not eat my beans as I still did not receive a fork (after asking at least 3 times). My toddler son wanted a hotdog and french fries meal, but the fries were obviously poured from a bag (sinimlar to mcdonalds) and the hot dog came wrapped in tin foil and was obvioulsy sitting in a warmer all day, as the ends were hard and split. When they initially brought out my wifes food, they didnt bring mine or my sons, as "its still cooking", but in truth he forgot to put it in because it took another 15-20 minutes for our food to arrive. By this point all of our dinks were gone, and we asked for refills...but that never happened. So we ate our food and waited for about 10 minutes to see if the waiter would be back. I actually had to get up to track down our server for the check, as I wanted out of there ASAP. When I asked to speak with a manager I was given the run around, and told he was busy. So I spent $50 on food we barely ate, and wasted over 90 minutes because of the ineptness of the restuarant. I cannot speak for the wife, but I will not be returning to this "restuarant" read more

The food is definitely flavorful but as a vegan with strict diet restrictions I've always had some kind hiccup with my order. The first time I was there I asked for the veggie fajitas with no dairy toppings (sour cream or cheese) on the plate and had to send it back bc it still came out with cheese. The second time I visited and ordered the fajitas I discovered to my extreme dismay that they clearly don't clean the grill between orders bc there were bits of meat in my vegetables. For all I know the grease from the grill (that coats the veggies) could have also been animal fat. This is NOT a menu option for vegetarians. Considering that the fajitas were one of the only menu options a vegetarian/vegan could even order, this was not a friendly place for non-meat eaters. Probably won't ever return. At least Chipotle understands dietary restrictions. read more

I have been visiting La Tolteca restaurants since their early years in Belair (over 10 years) and this afternoon visit has to be the worst visit ever. We arrived to the Aberdeen restaurant around 11:50 am ordered our meals and had to wait for about 45 minutes for our meals to arrive. Being that we had to attend a high visibility meeting at 1 pm we asked our waiter for the status of our order and we weren't told of the reason for the delay only that it would arrive shortly. When I mentioned to him when he brought us our meals he finally told us of several large parties and that was the reason for the delay I told him we would like our meals to go and would he please bring us our bill. He was very negative began to walk away then returned and said their was no charge. In an establishment serving the public the customer should be treated with respect and make them feel welcome and willing to return in the future. This is not what I felt. Me and my wife visit this restaurant at least twice a week and never have we been treated like this before, Being Hispanic myself I enjoy the environment and have had several discussions with other waiters in the past, but after today's experience I will think twice about returning. read more
