Everything was okay, but I wasn't impressed with the food. We ordered one ribeye, one shrimp fettuccine Alfredo, one full rack of ribs, and four drinks. Our total came to $280 USD, which felt excessive for the overall experience. The ambiance is nice, the restaurant is beautiful, and they offer valet parking. The service, however, was inconsistent. Some of the waiters were friendly, while others came across as rude. One waiter took our order but never brought our drinks. I had to ask another waiter for help, and he was very kind and made sure we received them. At the end of the meal, we were charged for multiple bottles of water without anyone asking whether we wanted bottled or regular water. If they really served us all 18 bottles they charged us for, they should have left them on the table so we could keep track. At 160 pesos per bottle, that added up quickly and felt misleading. And fyi they don't offer free refills on drinks. Overall, the experience didn't justify the price, and unfortunately, we won't be returning. read more

It was easy to make a last minute reservation same day. Easy to find, quick to sit down. The bar was cool aesthetic. Service was good changing out plates/utensils at every course. Menu was large but mostly straight forward. They brought complimentary bread and kids thought it was good. The octopus and steak was cooked perfectly. The garlic mushrooms were tart and a good compliment to the steak. The salad had some sort of homey mustard dressing which I liked. Only pic I didn't take was the side of fries we ordered. Only downside my son found a small fly alive and buried underneath part of the dish. Had to eat almost the entire bowl to then find the fly was unsettling. We just let it go. The creme brulee was excellent so smooth and creamy. Beware they post the exchange rate near where to check in. At the time it is 18/1, which is really poor course in their favor. Our concierge highly recommend La Vaca and steak sounded good so my wife and I took the short walk over to the restaurant. It's very nice inside with a huge bar and a great selection of wines. The wait staff was very attentive and made some food recommendations. We ordered our wine then started reviewing the menu. I ordered the skirt steak like I always do in an Argentine restaurant but Julio suggested a different cut. He said it was equally as flavorful and much more tender. It was called vacio. I've never heard of it before and Julio was right. It was spectacular! So tender and flavorful. A new absolute all-time favorite. Now I'll step back a bit. We started out with provoleta caminito and empanadas. We couldn't decide so we got a beef, corn and ham and a spinach and cheese to split. We ended up only eating the corn with ham and saved the others for lunch tomorrow. The provoleta was really good. It was different from what I am used to, but in a good way. We really enjoyed it. My wife ordered the milanesa napolitana and it came with fries. It was large enough to feed a family of four! It was enormous! The steak was lightly breaded and cooked perfectly. The sauce was nice and there was a lot of cheese. The fries were also really good. By the time we finished we were too full for desert. This was not my favorite dinner spot that we tried in PV. We tried it since it was so close to our hotel which was nice. The wait to get in was super long so we opted to sit at the bar, which we didn't mind. They served us bread with chimichurri and two types of salsa after we ordered our drinks. The bread and chimichurri combo was delicious. For dinner, my fiancé and I split a steak and it was pretty mid. Nothing to write home about. I almost wish I ordered something different. We went here twice during our trip. Both times the food was excellent, it is a pricier place but compared to home it's pretty reasonable except for some sides (240 pesos for 1 baked potato???). The salad is really good, the tenderloin steak is really good. Upon request they provide a hot plate so if people sharing have different preferences you can cook the steak more. The portions are quite large. The only real complaint is that after receiving your food the service seems to end there. The second visit we requested water refills several times and didn't receive it until our meal was complete. It was frustrating considering the amount of staff that were standing around. Every year I come to Puerto Vallarta and one of the highlights of my trip is dinner at La Vaca. It was always the best, and most expensive dinner of my trip. Tonight is my final night of this year's Puerto Vallarta trip so I treated my girlfriend to dinner here. All trip I told her "on Friday night we'll dine at La Vaca, the best restaurant in Puerto Vallarta". I am so disappointed with tonight's experience. I will never return. Here's why: 1. No upscale restaurant serves the salad with the dinner. It should always be 10 to 15 minutes prior to dinner being served. So I sent back my salad. 2. They are playing very loud techno music. My girlfriend can barely hear me talk. This is not a disco. I didn't come here to dance. I came here because it used to be an upscale steakhouse. Low class. 3. I split a Lomo steak (filet) with my girlfriend. We ordered it medium rare. It was served rare. We sent it back. When they returned it, it was still rare. We could only eat the outside parts which were closest to medium rare. Most of the meat was dark red. Neither the waiter nor manager seemed to care and no concessions were offered. The chefs and crew have clearly never dined at nice steakhouse. They don't know what the f#@% they are doing. The only positive thing I have to say is that the chocolate pistachio creme brule is still amazing. Goodbye La Vaca. I'll be spending my money in the future at restaurants that know what they are doing and understand how to cook a steak. read more

We've eaten at the Nuevo Vallarta location a couple of times but the last two times we've been very disappointed. Their pizza tastes like cardboard and their pastas have no flavor. This visit we ordered one of their good steaks and some sides. The fillet mignon was inedible, tasted strange! We all left ours, couldn't eat it. The salad had no dressing on it, and the lettuce used was the cheapest kind and almost to the point of it looking old, hardly any greens in it! Overall very disappointed! The salmon in the pasta was old and smelly. Gross. Why don't they offer fresh fish from the ocean. Also the pizza has to be frozen and had that freezer burn. I came here about 8 years ago and the steak was excellent. Tender, juicy. I came last year and last week, and the meat was mediocre at best. Grisly, chewy, dry, and a very thin slice for a ribeye. Bone-in ribeye should be juicy, fatty and tender. Also, their meat was from Canada and USA. Why don't they use Mexican meat? It's a "high end" steak house, use restaurant grade Mexican meat. I had a grill out at my family's house here with high end Mexican meat and it was 100 times better than La Vaca Argentina. We had to send it back to the Kitchen twice in order to get it cooked correctly. Side dishes are without taste and lacked flavor. The service was excellent. We were excited to go to La Vaca Argentina to enjoy a birthday dinner with our friends. We hadn't been in two years and had always loved the food and the service. We made a reservation on Open Table and arrived at the restaurant on time. The hostess and manager were very nice and we were seated immediately. Our server, Oscar, was awesome through the whole evening. My husband and I shared the house salad, tomahawk steak, creamed spinach and a baked potato. Our friends ordered the tenderloin, grilled vegetables and a baked potato as well. We all had cocktails to begin with and then ordered a bottle of wine to go with our dinner. Everything was exemplary and we had no complaints. They brought a complimentary dessert for the birthday. We got home from dinner around 9:00 pm and settled in for the rest of the evening. (our friends were staying with us for the week) I started to feel unwell around 11:00 and went to bed. I got up at 1:00am, 2:30am, 3:45am and vomited... it was awful... My husband woke with a headache and started vomiting shortly after... we were sure we had food poisoning but our friends were fine. The only difference in our food was that we had creamed spinach and the tomahawk. We figured out it was the tomahawk steak because we brought the large bone home and gave it to our little dog... she threw up around 6 times the next morning. We continued to vomit all day, plus had diarrhea! It was an awful 24 hour experience. In addition, it was our friend's last day with us in PV and we had plans with them and couldn't leave the condo. I tried calling La Vaca Argentina later in the afternoon to let them know that me, my husband and our dog had been sick and was sure it was the tomahawk steak. I got a woman on the phone and asked to speak to the manager and she put me on hold and then the phone disconnected. I tried again and no answer. Not happy! I wonder if anyone else was ill the same night that we had our tomahawk? We will never go back to La Vaca Argentina. read more
