The star of Bocodos is the view. We came in the evening and sat on the outdoor patio and wow...the sunset was spectacular!! The service was incredible...I wish I could remember our servers names. They were great! The meal started with 3 different types of bread with chimmichuri dip. It was sooo good. I tried the buratta salad with balsamic dressing. It was fresh and delicious. The meal seemed pretty average. My mom got the surf and turf and we were surprised that there was no sauce or any garnishes on the plate. What helped make this 5 stars were the desserts!! We ordered the flower pot and carrot cake. We were shocked that the carrot cake looked like an actual carrot and tasted sooo good. Usually when desserts are cute the taste isn't great, but that was not the case with this one. The flower pot dessert was my favorite. The pot was made out of tempered chocolate and was thick and so tasty. It was a great ending to a wonderful trip in PV! I'm going to really miss this place! read more

I ate breakfast a couple of days here as well as dinner one night and it was a favorite for both meals. For breakfast, I really loved that they offered an omelette with turkey. It was delicious and I returned for it the following the day. This omelette also introduced me to oaxaca cheese, which I now buy at Aldi and use in my turkey scrambles several times a week. I'm a big steak fan so I'm glad this lived up to my expectations. I decided on a tenderloin as I like my steak less fatty and this steak was perfect. I also got a side of mashed potatoes and started with a clam chowder. Since my visit, I've discovered a new love of crab cakes so I'll be sure to try those when I return in about 6 months. Despite being a steakhouse, they offered some decent vegetarian options for my vegetarian boyfriend. He chose the beans huarache but I think he'll try something different in the future. I can't give it a complete 5-star rating only because I think I have to discount it for a bit on the price EVEN though I did do all-inclusive. Regardless of that, the quality still is pretty good. We got the chilequiles verde, aztec crepe, assorted pastries, cafe de olla, pancakes, steak and eggs. I only got this for breakfast so I'm bummed I wasn't able to get this for dinner/lunch. The service again is excellent with unprecedented hospitality. Ivan saw me and stopped by to say hello. Always good seeing good people throughout your stay. You have a nice view of the Ocean. You can either sit inside or outside. If you want to stay a bit cool, inside you will have a bit of trouble as the doors are always opened and closed just due to the service that is going on and how humid it can get. That isn't to discount anything but that is something to consider if you don't enjoy humidity. And if you don't, learn to because its good for your skin. The pancakes were not too but just enough fluffly. The assorted pastries were really good. They were all covered in sugar and came in different baked assortments from croissants, to the hard flaky crossaint lookin' thangs, and then donuts. I recommend that if you're in a pastry mood and love sugar. They don't have it on the menu, but they made it the two times I went here so if they make it for you, be sure to be generous with a tip for them going beyond. Ask for cafe de olla. It is sweetened with piloncillo (unrefined cane sugar) and spiced with cinnamon. Its usually enjoyed black, without milk. But you do you, I enjoyed it straight because its already sweet enough. If you come here for breakfast, I HIGHLY recommend the Aztec Crepe. Its the savory version; its like the Mexican twist on crepes that's next-level. Picture this: a soft crepe filled with tender chicken (or sometimes beef), covered in a mix of green tomatillo salsa and red chili sauce. It's kinda like enchiladas, but in crepe form, so you get that perfect balance of tangy and spicy. They throw in some melted cheese too, which makes it all come together. The green and red sauces give it that festive, Mexican flag look on the plate, and it's the kind of dish that hits just right when you're craving something hearty but still fancy. Perfect with some rice or a cold beer while you're soaking in the ocean views. To end this and because I didn't see NOI the italian restaurant on Yelp. Bocados and Blanca Blue are the best ones IMO. We went to Bocados without a reservation. It was completely full all the days we stayed at Mousai. The front desk lady said no but we decided to stay and have a glass of wine. One of the servers was so so sweet and went to get us our wine and gave us a table that wasn't being used then he said he would try to get us in and he did! The service was beyond amazing. The bread with the chimichurri delicious. My steak and my husbands steak delicious as well. We were very pleased oh and the views are incredible. We are in love with the Mousai and have been here four times this year...And each time we are here we choose Bocados for breakfast/ brunch more than any other f the amazing options.... The ViEW, the SERVICE, the Food is amazing. We've tried practically everything on the menu the dozen or so times we have visited and have decided he dry beef and the mimosas are the way to go. The most important part of the experience I think is the service which is extraordinary...they make us feel as if we are old friends the manager Roberto, our server Alan, and the hostesses are very warm and helpful. Never a bad meal at Bocados. They also have a breakfast buffet and are also open for dinner.... I felt nice to be welcomed again and again each time we returned. The food was good. Of all the breakfast options at Garza Blanca, this had the best selection. The breakfast buffet was also tasty. Loved the chocolate cinnamon chia seed pudding and concha! My favorite item was steak and eggs ordered from the menu. The most beautiful dish I ordered was the croissant. I wasn't at my hungriest that day, so I took it to-go and reheated it in the oven. Still delicious!! Dinner was also really good, one day we received an ammo Boosh that was a berry bruschetta. Yum! I can't believe the oxtail soup is the only thing I managed to take a picture of from dinner. We also enjoyed the mussels and I had a ribeye with the side of mushrooms and the Cabernet demiglaze. It was all so good and we left SO FULL. In regards to breakfast, if you can, order off the menu. Don't eat the buffet. More specifically order the specials. While my waffles were good and I loved the pastry basket, the chef specials looked the most appetizing of all the food our group ordered. The hostess at the front desk, Carmen, lady with braces, was incredibly rude to us. The servers were spectacular, however, the lady's attitude ruined the entire experience. Coming into breakfast, she was already rude, telling us that our table was outside and when we followed her out, she shooed our party inside to wait in a VERY condescending tone. Mind you, our 80 year old grandma needed the fresh air outside, and the host was incredibly distasteful to her declining health and age. As we finally got our table, we gently asked for one more chair as there was only 8, and our party was 9. She turned and yelled "IT'S NINE RIGHT?". As we counted out the 8 chairs in front of her, she rolled her eyes and then grabbed another for our table. We have been to Garza Blanca Puerto Vallarta many times before, and have had a great experience so far; but this lady ruined our whole mood and appetite for the day. We hope she takes accountability for her actions and attitude-- this is not how you treat your guests, new or returning. I would like to start with the disclaimer that I am only reviewing BREAKFAST. We also came for dinner, but that warrants a much lower review. However, breakfast was fantastic! The view on the patio is absolutely breathtaking. Across multiple days, we were waited on by Arturo, León, and Julian. León was funny, kind, and super fun to talk to when he came over. We joked and laughed together, making the experience memorable and enjoyable. Julian and Arturo were very welcoming, and attentive to our needs without being overbearing. They all remembered us from day to day, and we came to look forward to breakfast just for their company. That said, the food is also delicious! We had huevos rancheros, chilaquiles (which were my absolute favorite) and their oatmeal. We love pan dulces and ordered conchas and other assorted pastries that were the perfect accompaniment to the fresh and delicious coffee. On our last day, we were surprised with the dessert plate below, which was so thoughtful! Our starter salad was beautifully presented, but a little light on dressing / unevenly dressed, so it fell a bit flat despite having lovely ingredients. The steak was okay. Nothing special. Definitely don't get the fries as a side dish. They were like grade school cafeteria fries. No bueno. The mushrooms were okay...not super inspiring. The other highlight of the meal was the chocolate dessert they brought because it was our last night there. Delicious. Overall, if you're staying at Mousai, there are much better options than this. We ate here 3/4 nights during our stay at The Garza Blanca Preserve resort. It did not disappoint the service was spectacular the food was delicious the ambiance everything really the only thing they could improve on is dessert selection. I would loved to see some type of churro dessert with a chocolate sauce or ice cream as well as chocolate covered Strawberries Overall in Mexico I don't think the desserts are sweet enough really this may just be an American preference though. I highly recommend the appetizer tacos some of the best tacos I've ever tasted! The steaks were cooked to perfection and good quality meat. The Cesar salad is prepared table side and has a beautiful presentation. And the views are spectacular! We also went for breakfast and enjoyed the chicken enchiladas the red sauce I recommend. Prepared meet has no charcoal flavor or slight char... it is not appetizing to look at a steak that looks like it does. The salmon was a poor choice. Strong fish flavor, brought in, but not fresh. We went three times this trip and figured out the best meal was ordering fresh tomatoes with mozzarella and the grilled octopus. Desserts are mediocre, just like the rest! My wife's tuna cubes were simple and solid. The contrast of the black sesame made the dish more appealing. We ordered a medium rare center cut rib eye (came out rare) and another cut of meat that was described as part rib eye and part filet (came out (medium rare instead of medium), also not terribly hot. The entire dining experience -- checking in, the seat offered, the menu items, the birthday wishes -- was such a treat. This modern steakhouse, situated on the Garza Blanca grounds and available to those of us at Mousai, has a gorgeous dining hall and patio. For evening meals, you have a beautiful, unobstructed view of the ocean and parts of the city. I love that the Mousai/Garza restaurants will begin with an amuse bouche. The chef's offering -- heart of palm atop a crunchy toast. Sounds basic as all get out but, people, I want to replicate the recipe at home! What a fresh burst of flavor, and something of a palate cleanser. Loved and appreciated the intention with that one. Then came the breads and butters. The butters offered with the bread are a sampling of sweet and savory: standard, beet and mango. The beet butter was the most flavor forward, and my favorite. Also, the creamy, cheesy artichoke dip was very welcome. I opted to start with a bowl of chowder, which was served with meaty chunks of clam and potatoes. Thankfully, it was a mere bowl, because the soup, along with the bread, could have sat as a light entree. I also went with the cowboy steak with a side of asparagus. Loved the cross-cut char on the steak, which was a hefty, lightly seasoned chunk. Very juicy and yielded nicely to the knife. The corn puree was the only menu item I did not like. It was more like a sweet, cinnamon bread. All hint of the corn was list in the mini side dish. The drink and wine menus both had a decent range, but I found it odd that no Zinfandel was offered by the glass. Be attentive to the dress code. Smart casual is recommended, so no beach wear, shorts and sandals. read more

During our stay at Hotel Mousai, we had dinner twice at Bocados STK. It's a classic steakhouse but very tiny inside. Since there had been evening showers, the patio was closed. For both visits, the steaks were excellent along with the appetizers, salads and sides. Both evenings, we had live musicians stop by and play for an hour. Once it was the lady flutist and the second time it was a male guitar player. This makes the ambiance classy and a beautiful experience during dinner. I do feel the need to share a somewhat unpleasant experience on our second visit. We were 15 minutes tardy to our reservation. As a result, "Ruben" the manager told us that we had lost our table and would most likely not even get in that evening. Ruben even offered to call other restaurants to get us a table. Meanwhile there were approximately 6 tables that were empty. When I pointed this out, Ruben said those tables were waiting for the next sitting and that we would have to wait and see if those customers did not show up before he could have us seated. Ruben also insisted that we wait outside the restaurant even though it was raining. Eventually, we were seated. I must mention that several tables remained empty the entire evening, I will include a photo as proof. It was very cruel and showed poor management skills for Ruben to ask actual customers to go to other restaurants when in fact he kept several tables open all night. The rest of the staff were extremely professional, kind and efficient. The tables by the windows are great to watch the sunsets. read more

We were part of the all inclusive (AI) at Mousai and loved the breakfast and dinner here! As AI, we tended to gorge ourselves for breakfast :) We helped ourselves to the continental breakfast buffet which had an assortment of tropical fruits, cheeses, and sweet breads. They also had lox. Sometimes simple is best, we would order the eggs sunny side up with extra sides of the house (diced, roasted) and hash potatoes, and spinach. We also tried the chilaquiles which was excellent! After being so full from eating during the day, we would just get the steaks for dinner. Highly recommend the dry aged rib eye and NY steak. The second time we went, we decided to try the 8oz filet mignon, upon our waiter's recommendation- it was tender and had a nice grill taste but personally, I preferred the more flavorful rib eye and NY steak. The view was incredible, most seating had a view of the ocean and cityscape to enjoy with the delicious food! In the evening there would be lit candles on each table which made it more romantic! A couple of tidbits about dinner here is that gratuity is not included with the AI package. The food and service were excellent though! Hence, dinner reservations gets booked quickly. The Cabernet wine was good and my glass was continually topped off. The onion soup was ok, the Caesar salad was good but very strong mustard flavor. I must say this is a meat lovers paradise. If you like a steak, mashed potatoes, mac & cheese I suggest you make a reservation here for the whole stay the moment you check in. This place is humongous but gets packed everyday for both lunch and dinner. Quality of meat was really, really good and the execution came perfect. First get a reservation around sunset on the patio and the view is amazing! My husband ordered the appetizer recommended by the waiter which was so out of his comfort zone. It was octopus. My husband stated it was very good. I just had a salad. For an entree he ordered the dry aged steak which he said was very good! I order the lamb chops and were cooked perfectly. The baked potato that came with the meal was overdone and had to be sent back. But this did not detract form the meal as everything else was perfect. If you go during a slow time (rainy season - end of August beginning of September, you did not have to worry about getting a reservation right away. The restaurant has a great view of the ocean resting in the middle of the mountain and the service was very attentive. My only complaint was that sometimes the meat will come out a bit cold since it was precooked or have been sitting on the counter until we finished our appetizers. I would advise to make sure your steak comes out on time. Also don't forget to ask for more spices! read more

Tried once to call and make dinner reservations and once walked over because we were staying across the street at the Villa Atlas Garza Blanca. Both times turned away. The first time we walked over we were in shorts and T-shirt's which wasn't acceptable. The second time we called to make sure our attire was appropriate and were told that dress shorts, collared shirt and shoes was not ok for men. They needed pants and dress shoes. This is PV folks! Not Pebble Beach! And women couldn't wear sandals. Not even flip flops to eat. Very disappointing. read more
