We ordered chilaquiles and an omelet the first time, both of which were made fresh and tasty. The 2nd trip we ordered Nuevo rancheros and the bacon eggs breakfast. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because they add the tip to the bill but do not tell you. So you end up tipping again or if you charge it to the room it's added on your hotel stay. They do not disclose this on the bill. So you end up tipping again and this can add up. Overall good food and service. read more

La Casana has always been our favorite "go-to" restaurant to celebrate our wedding anniversary when in Mexico, however, this last visit was exceedingly disappointing: the exceptional service was less than mediocre, mocktail beverages on the menu were not available, our orders were incorrect and even though my husband ordered a "well done" steak the server failed to mention that the appetizer he ordered is served rare. Additionally, our steaks were served on a cast iron plate with raised grill ridges making it too difficult to cut through. And, although we mentioned it was our anniversary, it was never acknowledged - not even a "Happy Anniversary" from our server. Needless to say, we requested to-go boxes to better enjoy our anniversary dinner back at our resort room. I'm truly hopeful that this was just an "off night" for them ....but it's unlikely we'll return. I did give three stars as historically the service and food have been exceptional but if this had been our first visit it would have been a one star. read more

This is the main dining restaurant in the resort Villa La Estancia Riviera Nayarit. I had the all inclusive band so everything was comped besides for gratuity. I came here twice, once for breakfast and as well as for the dinner which they tell you to make a reservation on open table. The food here is a lot better than many of the other restaurants located at this resort. The steaks and beef stroganoff were pretty good and really can't complain for being on the all inclusive. For dinner they had entertainment for us with Eduardo singing some beautiful songs. Would recommend checking out this dining spot at least once if you're staying in this resort. read more

Located on the lobby level of Villa La Estancia, Restaurante La Casona is a fine dining establishment on the property. They serve breakfast and dinner. Both indoor and outdoor seating is available. Staff greeted us upon arrival and seated us out on the patio for each of the three visits. They offer a relatively small menu with enough options to satisfy most pallets. Breakfast options offered as a buffet when occupancy is high and menu items when occupancy is low. Dinner is always off the menu. We enjoyed breakfasts including pancakes, egg sandwich, veggie & egg white omelette, steak & eggs and chilaquiles. Dinner included seafood and salads. All were prepared well and savory. The wait staff were always on point here. Views overlooking the pool toward Banderas Bay with sunsets on the horizon were exceptional. Can't wait to go back. Keep on Yelp'n! read more

Had a nice and fancy dinner here during our stay at Estancia. Service was great, we were treated like movie stars. It was also kind of slow but we didn't mind, I think they just don't want to rush you. All of our food tasted amazing and the portions were generous. The lava cake and churros were yummy little desserts to have after our meal. You do need to set a reservation to eat here and they have a dress code. read more

This is a good choice for a special meal as the service is top notch and the food is delicious. That said I have to subtract 2* because it is grossly overpriced, as seems to be the case with all of the fine dining Villa Group restaurants. USD $200 for a couple of shared appetizers, a salad, shared entree (small steak), and 2 glasses of wine. We could get the same meal cheaper in high cost SF Bay Area even though labor costs are 5x lower in Mexico. So expect a wonderful meal, just be prepared to fork out. read more

Beautiful space. Excellent service. Piano player who was well loved by the La Casona regulars. Eduardo was our lead waiter and we closed out our lovely dinner with his superb (and this was not our first experience) Mexican coffee service. Eduardo's English was excellent and he was comfortable making recommendations when I provided my preliminary choices. My asparagus soup was excellent, and the lamb Osso Bucco was rich and delicious. My aunt and I came here for the cooking class lead by chef Leonardo and assisted by 8 people. So to clarify 9 people taking care of mine and my aunts every single want or need. And they were amazing. The menus to choose from are great and the items are super fresh. We made ceviche, sesame tuna, mushroom risotto and creme brule, coffee, wine, champagne, soda. You name it they will serve it. There are many options to choose from. Reserve 3-5 days in advance and to be sure you get a coat just don't have them embroider it. They are nice they way they are. The service is very good and always readily available. I had the pancetta wrapped shrimp appetizer and it is incredible. I had the lobster for dinner with alfredo pasta and potato puree. Wow, wow, wow!!!! The whole family went to this restaurant for dinner and it was an amazing experience. First we were seated by a large floor to ceiling window that overlooked the pool and ocean. Next our very helpful and kind waiter Edgar greeted us. After asking the "type" of water we wanted he brought over fresh, thinly sliced fruit to put in our water. Soon after we received our drinks a second waiter came by with 4 different types of delicious bread and cheese to choose from. Then came fruit, humus with quinoa, and a mango sherbet. This all with a shrimp appetizer. No I wasn't full yet but that's because we are now an hour in and having so much fun tasting all this new food. My young boys are also very entertained so are not whiny which is always great! When our meal came out it was so grandiose. Four waiters came out and put each of our plates down and presented our food to us. For the entrees we ordered steak and lobster. The steaks came out with 3 different salts and sauces. The best pairing for the fillet was the Black Hawaiian salt and the wine sauce. After dinner we ordered flaming coffee, creme brûlée, and a chocolate molten cake. We rolled ourselves out and took a walk on the beach during sunset. I would highly recommend you try this restaurant if you are in Nuevo Vallarta! This was a great family experience. read more

My wife and I enjoyed dinner at La Casona. This is a beautiful restaurant with all the amenities ... in-house bar, nice wine list, super wait staff, pianist on a grand piano, and an upscale menu. We did struggle a bit to make certain that my wife's gluten allergy was accommodated. We started with a nice bottle of Emeve Cabernet, which after our requested decanting was quite good. Then we ordered salads, both of which were fresh and delicious ... Ceasar and Greek. For dinner my wife wanted the Wagu Ribeye, but they were out. So, instead she ordered an Angus Ribeye. It was a surprising cut in that it was boneless, which isn't the norm for a ribeye. The quality of the steak was less than expected. We believe that Chef Roberto's culinary talents weren't properly showcased by the cut of meat he was given to prepare. It was served with a very good baked potato. I ordered the beef bourguignon, which again was a bit of a surprise. It was prepared with a beautiful cut of filet mignon on top of a stand of scalloped potatoes and a very nice sauce. Overall, delicious, but not at all what I expected when I ordered beef bourguignon. The staff was quite simply amazing! Eduardo, Alfredo, Chef Roberto, Sommelier Hugo, Benjamin, and Rigo are a terrific team who offer spectacular service at every turn. Overall, we really enjoyed our dinner at La Casona, but for the hefty price it had a few shortcomings with the menu offerings. read more

Not sure how this gets 5 stars. Breakfast with the family was pooooor from start to finish whether it be service, quality of food, temperature of food, quantity of food and accuracy of order. I'll spare the details but it wasn't good. Even the hostess was below par as she was of little help and had no interest in resolving anything. Later the same day for something unrelated we encountered the same hostess who again was of little help. Now, I did run into a very helpful bar tender earlier on in the week that went to extra lengths to make us a custom cocktail. Don't recommend, won't return. read more

I loved La Casona as part of the restaurant options in our all-inclusive stay at Villa La Estancia. This was the best place to have breakfast, and I wish I had come back for dinner at some point. The ambiance is by far the best out of the resort restaurants with beautifully decorated tables inside and also with patio seating facing the pools and ultimately the beach and Pacific Ocean. Items of note that were good here included the Breakfast Burrito (super large serving so very easy to share) and the La Estancia special. The pork cracklings and ranchero sauce are a great way to fire up your morning! The service is on point and although it may not seem like it, the restaurant itself is very family friendly. My nephew ate up some chocolate chip pancakes! The table is always served a basket of fresh pastries in small sizes for everyone to dabble in. Dinner menu looks delicious... maybe on the next go around at Villa La Estancia! read more
