I underwent a breast implant + lift surgery with Dr. Angel Gomez-Garcia following a major weight loss, a weight loss procedure that was also done at Brand with a different doctor, so he was fully aware of my medical history and the condition of my skin and tissue. From the beginning, I was uneasy. During the consultation process, you primarily deal with nurses and staff, barely the doctor himself. Dr. Garcia only gave me a few minutes of his time for a quick evaluation, and then I never saw him again until the day of the surgery. There was no chance to build any kind of relationship or real trust with my surgeon. Just three months post-op, I requested a consultation because I had growing concerns about the results. Brand does not care about checking in on your recovery after they've been paid. At this visit, I was told by Dr. Garcia that my implants were being rejected by my body and that scar tissue was forming and hardening around them. He said they were encapsulated and needed to be urgently addressed. That was a complete lie. I have since consulted with multiple, far more reputable surgeons who all told me the real issue is what's called "double bubble." This occurs when implants are not placed in proper alignment with the lower breast tissue, and is very common in patients who've experienced extreme weight loss--which Dr. Garcia knew. I've been told this all could have been prevented with a standard technique: inserting a mesh to support the implant. These surgeons told me that using mesh in my case should have been common sense. But it was never done. Now, my implants have literally slid into my stomach. Yes, you read that right, my breast implants have migrated downward due to the lack of internal support. On top of that, there's an unnatural amount of space between my breasts, leaving me with absolutely no cleavage the ONE thing I made very clear to Dr. Garcia was most important to me. My nipples are now two completely different shapes, one oval, one circular. They tried to rush me into scheduling a revision procedure with them at full cost and zero sympathy. The only thing they offered to refund was the price of the implants themselves, which are insured through a completely separate company. They told me the revision needed to happen within the next three months "for my health," yet also had the audacity to say the same issue could happen again. They offered no alternative plan, no preventative solution --nothing, leaving me spiraling and in complete emotional distress over what the hell I could do. To me, it felt like Dr. Garcia realized where he messed up and was scrambling to fix it before I caught on while also trying to squeeze another few grand out of me in the process. Every time I tried to book a consultation with him (not a nurse) post op to discuss my growing concerns with my breasts appearance, he was "on vacation." I can only assume he was enjoying life with the money I had worked tirelessly to save as a 20-year-old student working two jobs just to afford this surgery. If you truly value your body and well-being, please do what I should have done: spend the extra couple thousand dollars and find a surgeon in Beverly Hills or someone with real expertise and ethics. I was sold on therapies like ozone, which I do believe in, but the doses provided were minimal and spread out over costly sessions that did not produce results. It felt like a significant waste of both time and money. She also pushed hormone replacement therapy as a major solution for me, despite my autoimmune conditions, which did not feel medically appropriate or well-explained. At the time, I was vulnerable and searching for answers, and I trusted her guidance. Unfortunately, I later realized I was not alone. I saw many other patients in her office who were also disappointed with their outcomes. After leaving her care, I found another doctor who helped me improve significantly within two weeks, which made it even clearer that the treatment I received here was not effective. She also pushes a large number of supplements, which I later realized come from her own product line, meaning she profits from every aspect of the treatment. A Doctor Who Actually Listens -- and Goes Above and Beyond I…read morearrived at Dr. Aminpour's office in April under incredibly frustrating circumstances -- Regal Medical Group had referred me to him but failed to send the authorization. I was ready to be turned away after months of fighting the insurance system just to get to this appointment. Dr. Aminpour heard me crying in the waiting room and personally intervened. He instructed his staff to spend three hours on the phone with Regal to secure same-day authorization. He refused to let me leave without being seen. That kind of humanity is rare in medicine today. He didn't have to do that. He chose to. When I finally sat down with him he was thorough, clear, and direct. He explained his clinical reasoning, answered every question I had, and provided a signed surgical clearance letter that helped move my long-delayed surgery forward. In a healthcare system where Black women are routinely dismissed and ignored, Dr. Aminpour treated me like a person whose concerns mattered. He is the standard every physician should be held to.
