When I called to schedule my appointment approximately one week in advance, I specifically asked where I needed to go. I was only told to go to the "west side" or "west building" of the hospital. I also asked for the room number, but one was not provided. I was not given a department name, floor, direct phone number, or any other location details. I also did not receive any appointment confirmation by email, text message, or phone call with instructions for my visit. On the day of my appointment, I arrived on time and went to the front desk. I showed them the information I had been given, and they directed me to the outpatient department. After going there, I was told I was in the wrong building. I then called the hospital operator for assistance. I explained that I was trying to find my GI imaging appointment and that I had only been told to go to the west side of the hospital. Instead of helping me locate the correct department, I was told to ask registration, and hung up on me before my issue was resolved. When I finally reached the appropriate department, I was asked for my referral paperwork. I had never been told that I needed to bring it, and because I never received any appointment confirmation or instructions, I had no way of knowing it was required. I was also informed that the ultrasound department's system was down. However, my appointment had been scheduled about a week in advance. Since I did not receive any confirmation or instructions before my appointment, I believe patients should be provided with the necessary information before the day of their visit, even if technical issues arise. I rarely visit this hospital, so I was relying on the directions and instructions provided to me. I made every reasonable effort to find the correct location by asking for directions when scheduling, arriving on time, asking the front desk for help, and calling the hospital operator. Despite those efforts, I was unable to reach the correct department, and my appointment was ultimately canceled.

I was told I would actually need at least 3 sessions before I saw any changes, so I continued to come back for more sessions. On my second & third visit, I went to the Encino location, they changed up the procedure and tried something different since nothing was working. I brought up another skin issue that was treatable with this same procedure since I was already sitting there. I was then charged for what I had already paid for because they tried a different procedure to fix the problem. I waited weeks and still saw no results, so I reached out asking for a refund. An honorable person would refund you no problem, but that was not the case here. I was told they wouldn't provide a refund for any of the payments I made, even after I provided all of the receipts. They tried to change reality and say what I paid for on my most recent visit was for this other skin issue I had, when it was for the initital problem. I did not only spend $125, I spent over $400 in total for the same issue. Very sneaky, no morals, greedy, do not suggest going here to Encino or any of their other locations. If you don't see results, they don't care and won't refund you. It makes no sense to tell a customer to spend their time coming back over and over, spending money and they can't even provide a refund, since I'm not getting my time back. I will never forget receiving an unprompted call from Dr. H late in the evening many years ago after they learned of a sudden health crisis that my parent suffered. Thankfully, my parent's crisis eventually resolved; but that brief check-in from Dr. H touched me deeply. I knew that I was not alone and that he genuinely cared. Unheard of in modern medicine, when you call their office after-hours and connect with the emergency line, the phone rings at Dr. H's house. They trust their patients not to abuse that access; but the small number of times that my family needed it, Peggy and Dr. H were on the other end of the line, providing useful information and reassurance, even at 4AM. They went out of their way to see me in person in a really short notice as my visit required necessary clearance for my nursing program. They only have certain days for appointments but she made an exception for me as my work schedule conflicted with their in-person office visits. Peggy also sent me my labs on a Saturday as I requested if she could send it to me as soon as they receive it.. they are closed on Saturdays and she did that for me (I am so grateful!). I also want to say that I drove from Monterey Park to Dr. Horowitz's office on a Friday during the time that there is so much traffic (traffic alone in this area if you already know is hideous) but I would do it again!
