Gonna give them another try just not for tacos. I've been wanting to check this place out forever!!! Huge let down. The restaurant is in the middle of the parking lot it is not the bar/cantina on the corner!!! They make everything fresh so be prepared to wait. Which is fine. I'm happy to wait for fresh hot food. That is not what happened. Our food came out cold and wrong. The margaritas great!!! Highly recommend. Go on a Wednesday and they are two for one. The place is so cute it's like you are in an old school Mexican restaurant outside but inside. The decor and overall concept at La Vecindad are amazing! That was actually what caught our attention and made us want to visit. The atmosphere is beautiful and very unique. Unfortunately, the food and service did not live up to the expectations. The staff was very friendly and kind, but there were quite a few mistakes. I was brought the wrong dish and, luckily, I hadn't eaten it before it was exchanged for the correct one. And the funniest part... they brought the piquete before the coffee! I really wanted to love this place because the concept and decor are so beautiful. Hopefully, they can improve the service and food because the restaurant has a lot of potential. read more

This is our Mexican spot when we are around the Strip. So, I blew it this time. I took a lovely photo of our drinks with the chips and salsa. I had the carnitas taco plate and he had the chicken quesadilla. OMG! Nom nom nom!!! It smelled so good. My next thought was to take a video of the fajita cart as it passed by, but my hands were full of taco. I have no food picture or video just the drinks. THAT is a testament to how good it is. You forget the phone. The service is good and fast. Everyone checks on you. Good tejano music. Nice volume to allow for conversation between bites. Next time pictures. I promise! read more

I ordered the Mole Poblano with Dark brown, sweet mole sauce served over chicken with rice, beans, and tortillas. The chicken was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The rice was delicious as were the beans. However, the mole sauce lacked serious flavor and was neither sweet nor spicy. Mole Pablano is one of my favorite dishes and one I often order and unfortunately this dish fell well short of my expectation. This restaurant is very popular and is loved by many. Its authentic design resembles restaurants often seen in Mexico. The staff were extremely friendly, welcoming and very attentive throughout my meal, which was appreciated. read more

I really wanted to like this place because it's such a nostalgic concept, especially if you grew up watching El Chavo del Ocho. Unfortunately, the food was a huge disappointment. It was honestly some of the blandest Mexican food I've had, and nothing we ordered really stood out. It also felt a bit like a tourist trap. A simple frozen margarita was around $20, and the menu seemed pretty limited. I've since heard they're mostly known for their giant tortas, so maybe that's what they're best at. The service was fine, but the overall ambiance felt a little off. There was also a noticeable smell throughout the restaurant that made it seem like there might be plumbing issues. Sunday around 4pm the place wasn't as busy as it normally is. It was our first time and we had great service. I wanted a cantarito and it turned out to be extra large. I had a mini torta with French fries and it was outstanding. We ordered the breaded shrimp for my toddler and my husband got flautas, everything was so good we almost finished everything on the plate. Authentic cooking in a cool theme chavo del ocho place. La Vecindad, is a family restaurant that is casual and the theme is after the very popular Mexican situation, comedy show "El Chavo del Ocho." the staff dresses as many of the characters from the show. In addition to the white stuff balloon artist creates, complementary, balloon art and deliver them to diners. We were celebrating a birthday and were pleasantly surprised with the celebration the staff created. Everyone was happy with their mail. I enjoyed Carne En Su Hugo, my husband had Chilaquiles with eggs, friends the fajitas which looked really good. We ordered various dishes and everyone was content with their order. We all let very full and happy. They also have house-made frescas and Mexican Coke. My children took me out to La Vecindad. They said they had been there and the food was good and good prices and they weren't wrong. We went on a super busy night and I the staff seemed a little overwhelmed. We ordered an appetizer that didn't arrive until after we were done with our dinner. They had also made the dinner plates with some lacking items that normally come with it and they forgot a drink we ordered till we were about half way done with dinner. We had been wanting to try La Vecindad for quite some time during our visits to Las Vegas, and we finally made it in. Right away, we were impressed with the décor. If you're familiar with El Chavo del Ocho, you'll absolutely love this place. There's so much themed décor that really makes you feel like you've stepped onto a scene from the show. Food-wise, based on what we ordered, I'd rate it about a 7/10. I ordered the chilaquiles verdes. While the salsa had good flavor, it was a bit heavy on the onion for my taste. The plate also came with a side salad that took up a large portion of the dish, which felt unnecessary for a breakfast plate. About 30% of my plate was chilaquiles, while the rest was beans, rice, salad, and two eggs. My boyfriend ordered the chicken milanesa torta, and he loved it. The chicken was juicy, the cheese was perfectly melted, and it all came together really well with the bread. We also ordered chicken taquitos. They were good, but once again, the plate was very heavy on lettuce. Lettuce was placed on top of the taquitos and also served as a side salad, which felt a bit excessive. On a positive note, the aguas frescas are natural. The tamarindo was perfect, and the café de olla was honestly one of the best I've had. Our service was amazing and our server was very attentive. We didn't wait long to be seated and food didn't take too long to come out. Overall, great ambiance and solid drinks, with some dishes hitting better than others. read more

The food tasted very authentic. Mexican food, just like many other cultures, has their differences but you definitely know whether it's authentic or not. We were taken alway with their cafe de olla (a Mexican style coffee made with coffee, spices, and raw sugar). It had the right balance of spice and sugar. No need to add anything. Our servers were very attentive to us and other tables. They made sure everything was delivered with care and consistently asked if we needed anything else. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and really makes you feel like you're in a traditional Mexican neighborhood. We ordered the Chilaquiles Poblanos, Queso Fundido Toluqueño, Papa Flautas, and Mexican sodas. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The queso fundido arrived sizzling hot and was absolutely delicious. The chilaquiles had the perfect balance of flavor and texture, and the papa flautas were crispy and satisfying. The service by Chino was friendly and attentive, and the restaurant was clean and welcoming. It's easy to see why they've won multiple "Best of Las Vegas" awards. Located in the Commercial center right off the strip. You find this Mexican theme restaurant. I got there about 11am when they open and there was 26 parties in front of me. Cool I'll wait. When you first walk in your transported into a Mexican comic story, which is kind of cool. All the servers were dressed in character. Live music, playing in a great Field, and vibe throughout the places decorated to a T with antiquities of the show. Now to the food, the chips were OK, but they're Salsa was delicious We got the meatballs Soup, which was good. Very very large. Serve to perfection. And that Chilaquiles, which were very good. We elected to come here since my group grew up watching El Chavo del Ocho. We got there and there was a long wait, so we cent to their cantina right across the street. The hard part is timing- if you get drinks at the cantina and they text you that your table is ready you have to chug your drink past and get to the actual restaurant, which happened to us. We were told it would be 25 minutes and a few minutes in they told us our table was ready. Or table had just gotten their drinks. 8 minutes passed and we got a text saying we no longer were going to get our table. Two of us decided to head over there to explain the situation. We get there and are told that they have been waiting for us and to get in now, so we text the entire group to hurry up and get to the restaurant. Once everyone got there everything else ran smoothly, no issues, the staff was nice, there was a mariachi band planting, the restaurant looked like the show. The coolest part was the owners son was our server and he told us the story of his parents opening the restaurant. Both the cantina and restaurant were so cool! I have already recommended this restaurant to my parents! I forgot to mention the food, I'm vegan and they had vegetarian enchiladas with rice and beans, you just have to all without cheese if you want vegan. read more

On a recent trip to Las Vegas one of my best friends asked me, do you want to eat mexican and I ws honestly not sold. He did however tell me we were going to a super special place and he DELIVERED. We ordered a Torta (OF COURSE!) and some aguas frescas which were soooooo delicious. The staff wasnt that quick, and my friend did get a bit annoyed, but the overall experience was sooooo great. Prices were fair and the best thing? THE DECOR! This place is a homage to La Vecindad del Chavo. What a trip down memory lane this was. Not really worth the hype for me. Food was decent but the menu advertised freshly made tortillas and we got packed reheated tortillas with super hard edges. I asked and was told let me check on that and she never came back. Our table was rarely checked on, I also had to stop a waitress and ask if I could have a refill. The flan was really good but the café de olla was unfortunately burnt. The idea of the place is good brings back childhood memories and they have el chavo playing in the background. read more

This place did an amazing job reliving my childhood. This place is exactly like El Chavo del 8. Staff is dressed as the characters. Which is really cute they did that. When we sat down the server gave us the menu for food and a small one for drinks. Also, another staff member with a camara came to our table and asked us if we would like to take pictures. We agreed to take pictures and at the end they gave us like a postcard with our picture. which is a nice souvenir to keep. Let's get to the important stuff now. What we ordered: - Agua fresca: we ordered the cucumber agua fresca, it was delicious. We also ordered the jamaica flavor with tequila. it was fire! 5/5 - torta del chavo 4/5. it was a big portion easily you can share it with 3-4 people. -queso fundido with chorizo. 4/5, really good queso fundido with homemade tortillas. When in Vegas, we like to veer off the Strip and explore the local flavors Sin City has to offer. That's how we stumbled across La Vecindad. Note: there are two locations within walking distance of each other, and I'll review each one separately. This particular location is a charming, Chavo del Ocho-themed restaurant, complete with staff dressed as the show's beloved characters. I was impressed by the colorful décor and the fun, immersive vibe. Spanish music played in the background--loud enough to set the mood but not so loud that you couldn't hold a conversation. Overall, the atmosphere was lively and well done. Unfortunately, the food didn't quite match the appeal of the setting. The menu includes tortas, tacos, fajitas, huevos rancheros, chilaquiles, and more. I ordered the flauta plate. The portion was generous, but instead of the traditional shredded beef or chicken, the flautas were filled with what tasted like chicken fajitas, rolled up and deep-fried. They were okay--definitely needed a good soak in salsa and sour cream to bring out flavor. The rice and beans were average. My husband ordered the red chilaquiles, but they came smothered in a mole sauce--something he hadn't expected or enjoyed. As for drinks, they were surprisingly expensive: $15 for a Bloody Mary. Typically, prices are lower off the Strip, so it felt like they were capitalizing on the novelty and theme to mark things up. If you're a die-hard Chavo del Ocho or La Chilindrina fan, this place is definitely worth a visit for the nostalgia and atmosphere. It was budget friendly for big groups.. we received the best customer service and our waiters were very attentive to their customers.. we didn't have to ask for refills.. they would come in their own and ask if we would like a refill... the food didn't take too long to arrive.. there's lots of props from the "La vecindad" or chavo del Ocho to take pics of.. overall a 10/10! Hidden gem! Do not be fooled by the location. They are a hidden gem. A 21+ location for the young at heart. We stopped by on a Sunday and it was pretty empty, but they had a great musician performing (I believe his name was Christian) We ordered the street tacos, mini torta (definitely NOT mini) and margaritas. The food came out quickly and that was wonderful because we were so hungry. The complimentary chips and salsa were really good and the food was also tasty.
