We got married at La Venta Inn in September 2024 and it was truly everything we could have asked for. The centerpiece here, and a large part of why we chose this venue, is the spectacular view overlooking the ocean which made for such beautiful pictures. Besides the natural beauty of the area, the building itself is a historic villa which felt cozy and intimate and yet comfortably accommodated our guest count of 100. Savannah was our contact person and was very responsive to emails, including some last minute seating changes we had in the weeks leading up to the wedding La Venta works exclusively with Made by Meg for catering - Kat was our contact person and was fantastic to work with. Note that they do not allow outside food vendors, but they were able to accommodate some of our special requests such as requests to source a specific brand of ice cream so that we could make our wedding unique to us. We got so many compliments from our guests on how delicious the food was. The other exclusive vendor that they are contracted with is Vox DJs. This is the only vendor that we had a less than stellar experience with. They performed their duties fine on the day of the wedding, with the exception of forgetting to set up the dance lights we had paid for, but the communication and planning leading up the wedding did not go as smoothly as I hoped, and I wish that we had the flexibility to go with a DJ company of our own choosing. However I understand the restrictions given that La Venta is a historic site. Overall, our wedding at La Venta was memorable, beautiful, and we would recommend them to anyone looking for a gorgeous venue with spectacular ceremony views. With a venue like this, you really only need a good florist (we used Flowernoon Shop) and a talented photographer (June Choi Photography) to bring out the natural beauty of the venue - you really don't need a lot of other rentals, draping, etc. We are so happy we had our wedding here!

My husband and I got married at La Venta on 7/29/22 and it was the wedding of our dreams! La Venta is now under newer management and the catering company Made by Meg runs the show! I could not be more impressed with the way the food, the service, the venue itself looked and felt on our wedding day. Its safe to say that I honestly felt like we were having our wedding at "home" with the way the staff treated us but lets be honest, my home does not look like La Venta! ;) There are not many event venues in Palos Verdes and this one takes the cake completely. The best part about it all is that, they literally supply you with everything you need for a wedding and you really dont have to think about much if you are going with minimal extras which you DO NOT need at this place because it is so stunning all on its own. I promise you less is more at La Venta and you will be totally blown away by the service you get. I cannot say enough good things and would recommend them to anyone looking for the best wedding ever :) Thank you Made by Meg staff, from the bottom of our hearts!

Beautiful wedding site, a hidden gem in Palos Verdes Estates. My cousin just had her wedding there last night and we all really enjoyed the view and location. The place itself is not too big but the stunning ocean and sunset views made it a perfect place for wedding. Service and food were great, we all had a good time

I was just a part of a beautiful wedding at this venue and I can't say enough good things about my experience there. The staff was so helpful in coordinating us and making sure everyone was where they needed to be, and everything ran very smoothly. I feel like I usually have mid-range expectations of wedding food but WOW was the food amazing. There was some kind of a soup I could've eaten a cauldron of, and a stuffed chicken with vegetables that was so good it was talked about well into the next day. A sweet bridesmaid next to me was vegetarian and I snagged one of her pesto gnocchi which was also amazing. I don't think we even have to talk about how incredible the views are at this place but let's do it anyway. I have never seen so many people at a wedding taking pictures of each other. No one could resist the amazing backdrops, perfect sunset lighting, and numerous picture-taking spots. You'll end up with some new profile picture worthy stuff, guaranteed. TL;DR--Book this venue. The people are helpful, the place is beautiful, and the food is to die for.

Great views! :) it's towards the back patio area of the venue where you'll see the breathtaking wedding-perfect views of the ocean & beaches below. Love it! Think this is a perfect location for small size weddings or other special occasions :) Note to the management team: if the Inn is no longer hosting people for overnight stays, then why does the name Inn still exist in the name? "Inns are generally establishments or buildings where travelers can seek lodging and, usually, food and drink." - from Wikipedia

We had our daughter's wedding at La Venta last week. It is one of the most beautiful, restful places in Southern California. Every time we walk on the property we instantly feel at peace, and the views are amazing! We knew it would be a perfect venue for the wedding and it was. Mike and Charla are great to work with. They are kind, helpful, and flexible. They truly want the event to be "your event" and they don't impose a lot of restrictions about the way it should be. My daughter declared it to be "the wedding of her dreams." What more could we ask for?

Beautiful setting. It's hard to beat the view. It's panoramic view of the South Bay all the way up to Malibu. You can see downtown and the mountains too. The hill in Palos Verdes where this place is perched is very small but so scenic. I came for a wedding and it was able to comfortably seat 70 people outside on a gentle slope. There is a small gazebo. The building is Spanish style with multiple rooms. The entrance room also functions as a dance floor. The side rooms are bar and a nice dining area with lots of windows. Very charming. The food was just OK, but the venue makes up for it. There is plenty of parking and the service is good.

It was raining that day. No sunshine. :(

The only issue we ran into was with the guests that had special food requests (gluten free, allergies, etc.)---there was a slight mix-up and some of them didn't get their food until much much later on in the night. The food though, was great overall! People kept talking about the chicken and the salmon. I remember the guests commenting on how delicious the food was. I remember that my husband and my sister (she went to the food tasting, since I couldn't make it from Northern California), said that they weren't too impressed during the tasting, but they really blew it out of the water for the day of! But fear not, Kathy made sure it all worked out, and we were still able to do the ceremony outside! DJ Lance: GREAT guy. Super sweet, friendly, and he played such great songs. We gave him a list of songs we'd like, and he rolled with the punches and went for it. He also led our guests in a jeopardy game about my husband and me, in order to dismiss the tables for the buffet food. He projected a powerpoint of us as a couple, growing up, in our respective towns. The guests absolutely LOVED him, as did we. We are quite happy that we chose RBH. I purchased 2 SOAR tickets online the previous night and selected a 1pm timed entry. We made our way on a Friday and easily found the entry and parking. Large, knoll-like lot, some shady spots, but lots free parking to choose from. We walked up the entry ramp, noticed a ticket window, but by-passed since I had tickets on my phone. We saw about 6 people standing at what looked like an entry gate to the left of the ticket window, so we went and stood by them. After a beat or two, one young lady asked us, 'Oh, are we in your way?' I didn't think so. I thought we were in line. 'We're queuing up to go in. Is this the right gate?' 'We're in the way. This is the way in.' Confused, I just said,'Oh' and told Hubs to wait while I go see who scans our tickets. I went back to the ticket guy who told me I could go right in and the SOAR attendant would scan. So I returned to Hubs at the gate entry and went in. No one else was there to confirm we had tickets. Currently, the non-member daily admission is $18 for Adults. SOAR is $27 for non-member Adults and includes the grounds and current garden exhibit Thomas Dambo's Trolls: A Field Study. I imagine most of the people there are members and visit regularly. I'm sure if I lived in the area I would be as well. But it felt strange not having someone ask to see our tickets before entry. Later, we decided to head back to the car and grab our sandwiches. We saw many people with picnic blankets(allowed) enjoying a spot on a lawn. We also saw vacated blankets being invaded by curious ground squirrels, so be forewarned and don't leave food laying about! We grabbed our small lunch tote and headed back in. Again, no one questioned us out or back in. We took advantage of the beautifully bougainvillea canopied patio area near the Koi Pond. I understand on weekends and during events, food and beverages are sold in this area and outside food is not allowed, But on this Friday the concession was closed and this patio area was empty. The bistro tables were perfect for our light lunch. The SOAR exhibit is handled beautifully! Tickets on phone get scanned when you arrive prior to your entry time. The SOAR workers recommend about 15 minutes prior to see the LIVING displays showcasing butterfly metamorphosis, the pollination and nectar garden our local butterflies very much enjoy, and give yourself some time to read about the species you're about to encounter in the enclosure. We did all of that and it was fascinating! It's also terribly vexing how I can't get something called a milkWEED to live in our own garden to encourage winged beauties. Bugger that! We opted to not partake in the reusable butterfly lollipops for $6. We have done encounters before and I intentionally wore a bright orange T-shirt to attract them. I could see where it would be neat for a kid, but the kids I saw doing it were excited that the butterfly was on their "lolli" for about a minute. Then it was how to get it off the stick and "get'" another. Unless closely watched, which most were by parents and garden staff, a kid could be tempted(I saw one was) to try and shake the butterfly free once the kid was "done" w/the insect being on his stick. Anywhooo..... My tip: wear bright clothing(yellow, white, orange), be patient, watch them flutter all about like a Robert Zemeckis written effect and then enjoy when they land. THERE ARE PLENTY TO OBSERVE! Be advised, they may intend to stay on you awhile, but staff will make sure each butterfly remains within the exhibit through observation and antechamber entrance and exits. Quite enjoyable and staff was well trained, friendly and knowledgeable. As for the grounds themselves, there are many gardens and some maps throughout to help you navigate. They currently have a sparkle "pathway" with various signs and stars on the visitor map to show you where the Garden Trolls are located. We spotted a few as we roamed around, but some guests made a game of searching them out. All in all, I am already planning another visit here, for at least one of their hosted Summer Concerts. The grounds were easy to walk, sizable enough to make a day out of it, spacious enough to find private, peaceful spots, and lovely. The one star short of perfect is the signage, or lack thereof. Some signs were just plopped into areas where you MIGHT find some of the plants pictured. More staked markers in plants would be nice. Cheers! "CC"
