Retuning to The La Vernia Den on a Saturday night (9/6:25). Tonight, it's Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad & 6pc Chicken Tenders. First, the Chicken Caesar Salad, which was fine however, there was a bit too much dressing with a hint of Lemon. Might have been better if the dressing was on the side so people could use as much as they wanted. The Chicken Tenders were a good size and the Garlic Parmesan sauce was tasty. It is a wet sauce not a dry rub. The chicken was a bit chewy, fried enough to be flakey. It's served in a small square dish which made it awkward to eat with a knife & fork. Being the sauce is wet, it's a mess to think this is finger food. The Den is great for families, kids are certainly welcomed and there's live entertainment on Saturday night. They have a full bar, which is great for adults; also a soda bar for free refills. The waitstaff is nice, attentive, and friendly. Prices are reasonable too. I decided to take my dad to the den for Father's Day. We absolutely love this place, it's relaxing, comfortable and laid back place, it offered indoor and outdoor eating. The host was friendly, and we were seated quickly. Our waitress was kind and checked in us often. Our was so good as always. My mom got the chicken fried steak, and it was perfect. My brother's fish was cooked really well. He did say the broccoli was a bit crunchy. He said it was like a frozen bag of broccoli. But everything else was great. read more

The food was great, the service was great, you order as you enter at the counter then they deliver your meal to the table. Food delivery didn't take long at all. The live band music excellent. Food- cold, boring, and takes forever to be served. Service- literally forget to put orders in. Extremely slow. Alcoholic drinks are watered down by the time they bring them to the table. We even had to resort to getting our own drinks when we saw they were ready. Ambiance- hot inside and obviously out, except for the freezing bathrooms, which is odd. Flies are obscene inside and out. Also, bees outside. While I understand some of these things they can't control, it's still disgusting. The outside play area for the kids is great. read more

If you've never been, this is a great place! Family friendly, lots of seating, kind and quick wait staff, and the food was great! We came on a Sunday early afternoon and there was plenty of seating so we had no wait time. Host & Waitstaff: The Host that seated us was very quiet, although kind and smiled I have no idea what she said to us even after asking her to repeat. We were waited on by a lady named Britney, she was great! Kind, answered my questions, provided refills as needed, she was on top of her game. We did see other waitstaff sitting at the far end chatting together but it looked like they were putting together place settings. They weren't disruptive to my dinning experience, however there were about 4 of them over there so I wondered if they were over staffed or if that was normal setup for the establishment. Either way they kept their conversations to a reasonable level and they didn't seem to be bothering anyone else. Food: We had a few options appetizers came out quickly. I really loved the mini corndogs, they do have the sweeter cornbread batter, but I thought it paired well with the honey mustard. Both sets of boneless wings were very good. Both were hot, tender, and juicy open arrival, and even tasted good after being reheated at home. The Salad I got was very good everything was fresh all of the fixings were cut to bite size so I didn't have to cut my own salad which can be annoying at other places, however I wish they offered a half order option, because with the amount of appetizers we had it ended up being too much food, and since the salad was tossed with the vinaigrette dressing it did not hold up well to eating the next day. Maybe just having the dressing on the side would help? Lastly, the chicken fried steak, this was okay - breading was a little too much, wasn't greasy which was good, gravy needed more seasoning and was a little more goopy, needed the flour cooked out a little more. All in all, we enjoyed our visit and would come again. read more

So - the atmosphere was great - outdoor seating (indoor as well) with great music being played. Large fans keeping it comfortable. The wait staff were pleasant. Only Pepsi products - not good. The appetizer of fried pickles came out at the same time as our entrees - not great but not terrible. The fried pickles slices were pretty good - too salty, but otherwise good. The mashed potatoes were really good - 5 stars. The Chicken Fried Steak was a generous portion. Not bad but not great. The breading was a bit greasy and the steak was partly overdone, but overall ok. The 'creamed corn' was two thumbs down. It was not creamed - it was in a bowl of milky something and it had nutmeg it in which gave it an odd sweet flavor. So overall - meh - so so - not bad but not great. The fact that it's one of the few local places makes it more popular than it otherwise would be. read more

Great place to take the family! Lots of stuff for everyone. Outdoor and indoor seating. Stage outside for band/music. If you are into Pokémon there are two gyms nearby and three pokestops all within reach so a great place to play Pokémon go while eating and hanging out with friends and family. My husband found this place and we came here for dinner. He had the chicken fried steak and I had the chicken fried chicken. We also ordered the fried pickles appetizer which was HUGE!! It was too much for just two people especially with our two entrees. The entrees were tasty and did what they were intended to do, squash the hunger pangs. Nothing epic just decent clean food. I might try the texmex version next time. Service was great. Our waitress checked on us several times and kept our drinks filled. All in all it was a nice pleasant dinner. The night we stopped in was on a Friday but it was still early, before 5pm so it wasn't too busy or loud. Outside the main entrance there is a free library set up so if you have a book to give bring it and swap out for another while you are there.
