    Fresh 1-40 Combo!
    Don L.

Fresh Cut Fries and Fresh Burger built on a toasted buns. Our fries were hand cut while watched then cooked to perfection! Our burgers were the 1-40 combos. Stacked on the burger was cheese, lettuce, pickle and Hatch chili (not too hot but spunky!). Old time fresh sandwich and fries! And did I mention, the Ice Tea was excellent! Highly recommended for locals and travelers!

Great place to stop in for burgers! Order at the counter and the food is made fresh and fast. The patties are 1/4 lb and you have the option to get a double on any of the burgers. The fries are hand cut and amazing!! The green chili Route 66 burger was fantastic. I also ordered a matcha boba which they were able to customize for me and not add any sugar. The restaurant is super clean as are the bathrooms.

Finally came to the Santa Rosa Blue hole!

Craving an old fashioned burger, you must stop in. Hamburgers were spot on. We were hungry after swimming in the blue hole and decided to come here and check it out. It did not disappoint. Oh and the fries were yummy too!

Our party of 6 found this burger gem in downtown Santa Rosa! Ordered at the kiosk, ran to the VERY clean restrooms, filled our drinks, and had our food was ready! It was delivered to our table - hot and fresh! The friendly owner checked on us and we made a point to step into the cute little gift shop next door to tell him bye! It's worth the trip off I-40 onto a historic piece of Route 66!

Fresh burger toppers but order a double patty they are very thin. Shoestring fries and self serve Dr. Pepper. Nice clean place with a gift store attached. Made fresh so it took a little longer to get to the table.

Great Burger one of the best in town. Service was very hospitable and quick with making my food fresh

Very clean and resembles the average modern fast-food restaurant despite the outside look. Food took a while but was worth it when it was given to us picture perfect 6 stars

Great Flavor and burger & fries. Great service and hospitality. Really good price. It is definitely worth stopping by if you are in the area.

    Hand cut fries!

Terrific green chile cheeseburger! And don't sleep on their fries, either. Their space adjoins a gift shop that's pretty nifty, too.

If you're making the drive between Santa Fe and Roswell, this is realistically the only stop--and…read morehonestly, it's a pretty solid one. Penny's has that classic roadside diner charm, complete with the shiny silver exterior and that satisfying old-school diner door. It leans into nostalgia in the best way, like you accidentally pulled into a time capsule somewhere along a desert highway. Inside was clean and well-kept, and the staff were attentive and friendly without being over the top--exactly what you want when you're road-weary and hungry. Food-wise, the burger hit the spot and the tots were crispy (always a win). Simple, classic diner food done right. A couple of knocks: the bathroom was just okay, nothing terrible but not great either. And the soda... not good. It had a strange flavor, almost like the lines hadn't been changed in a while--definitely stick with water or something bottled. Overall, it's not a destination restaurant, but for where it's at, it absolutely delivers. A reliable, nostalgic pit stop that does the job well. Worth the stop? Yes. Just skip the soda.

Finding Penny's is like striking gold (note: this review applies to their Yampa, Colorado, location…read moretoo). Either stretch of road is remote and food options are few and far between. When you see the lights are on, it's a relief. From what I understand, they're able to stay open 24 hours because of a contract with Big Rail, which keeps train crews fed and honestly, the rest of us travelers benefit too. I love that the choo-choos take care of their people while providing a service to anyone passing through. It's a cozy, welcoming stop when you need it most. The kind of place that makes a long drive feel less lonely. In the instance I'm in those parts of New Mexico or Colorado, Penny's is my go-to. Five stars!

My boyfriend got the smoke burger with bacon and green chilis and he loved it! I do eat meat as well so I had a bite of his and the burger was well seasoned and cooked to perfection. Fries were great too. Nothing but great things to say!! I had a mojito to drink and it was so refreshing! The bartender told me he grows the mint in the back garden. Great service too!! I asked for the burger to be cooked medium, and it was more like medium well or more done. The bun was a disaster, falling apart and sliding all over the place. One of the onions on it was inedible. The green chili suffered from a typical New Mexico problem (either hot with no flavor or flavor with no heat); this one was quite hot with no flavor. I don't know why, but my expectations were pretty high, but this burger was pretty bad. Oh yes, another point on the positive side, I got a house salad instead of french fries, and the salad was fantastic. Had some sesame seeds and cranberries in it that made it really delicious. I won't be back though. They simply must do better.

They were so ridiculously good that I ordered another round... and then somehow another. Before I knew it, I'd inhaled nine sliders like I was training for the Olympic Competitive Munchies Team. Mission accomplished--the munchies were officially defeated. I paid my tab, waddled out the door, and went to smoke another dooby. Now I'm sitting here wondering... after this next dooby, am I about to march right back in there and order another round of sliders? The odds are looking pretty good. Happy trails, buckaroos! PS: I honestly couldn't tell you what they taste like under normal circumstances. But if you're higher than gas prices, those sliders are five-star fine dining.

We ordered a burrito, fries and drinks - a Manhattan for my wife and a chocolate martini with Kettle One and crème de cacao for me. My wife's drink was to her liking, but the chocolate martini tasted like there was coffee liqueur in it. Since I didn't know when our waitress would appear again, I told the first person we saw - a young man - that I couldn't drink anything with coffee because of the caffeine, and that I needed it remade. He took it back to redo. While we were waiting, one of the pool players dropped a very loud f-bomb when he missed a shot. Then a young child began crying very loudly. The young man came back with the remade drink, and the coffee taste was gone. After it had been over 45 minutes I had to ask what looked like the manager what had happened to our burrito and fries. She went back to check, and our food finally appeared. The burritos were long on rice and short on carne asada, something we couldn't know until we started eating. At some point our original waitress came back, and my wife told her we had to send back my first drink because of the coffee ingredient. She denied any coffee-containing spirit was used, and walked away. We never saw her again. I had to ask the manager for an itemized ticket, since the ones we had were sign for a total amount only, with no itemized detail. Since the original waitress had closed out our ticket right after we ordered and had given us our check, we paid and left. No tip was left. If you want a properly-mixed drink, be prepared to explicitly request every ingredient. Better still, don't expect great drinks or food at this place - stay away. There are lots of other choices in Las Vegas NM.
