My mom took yellow cab the other day after Uber cancelled on her 3 times. Uber and Lyft have as predicted post IPO become so unreliable. Their strategy of trying to squeeze out the existing cab companies with lower rates initially and now higher rates is now a fact. These tech companies always claim doing good initially and when they cash out their true colors show. My mom had accidentally left her phone in the car and he turned around after he found it and went back and knocked on my moms door and gave it to her. Not dependable After dinner last night, I made arrangements with out hotel form transportation from the Brentwood Inn on W. Sunset Blvd La to LAX. They recommended Yellow Cab so I took their recommendation and had them make the arrangements for a 5 am pickup I was at the front desk at 4:50 and my business associated came in a few minutes later and checked out. 5am came and went a no cab. 5:05am and I had the hotel call and find out where the cab was. Good thing because they informed the desk manager that since they had given a landline and that Yellow Cab could not text them to give an ETA, Yellow Cab cancelled the reservation. Fortunately Yellow Cab was only about a mile away and a driver was available so he was there shortly and we made out flights but if we had not had the front desk check, we would have been in bad shape. Driver told me that part of the problem is that Yellow Cab now does their dispatch out of Utah so so much for local friendly service. AT 5:40 and again at 5:45 they "were looking for a driver for me!" I called Uber and a driver came in 6 minutes. He charged me way less than Yellow Cab. Their driver sent me to the emergency room today. I was forced to take a Yellow Cab to an appointment because it was company-booked for me, and as soon as I got in I regretted it. The guy sped the entire trip, with one hand on the wheel. When I asked him to slow down, it didn't make much of a difference. On surface streets. He was going so fast that he couldn't even stop in time for Stop signs so we'd be "stopped" with the car's nose in the intersection. And then he missed a turn and tried to U-turn or turn on a busy four-lane street, which resulted in him slamming on the brakes and nearly getting hit in the side by a car in the opposite lane. Which resulted in me missing my appointment and spending the morning in the ER to make sure I hadn't been whiplashed. This right here is why people don't want to take taxis anymore. The drivers are downright unsafe. I'm damn lucky this man didn't cause a full-on collision this morning. I hadn't read their reviews before reserving a cab to the airport, but they have no concept of time or integrity. Terrible. I use this company through my insurance provider. They are consistently late. I've currently been waiting for an hour for a ride to take me to an appt that is now in 5 minutes. The last driver I had was talking on the phone while also eating. He saw me trying to get out in my crutches and didn't even help me. I had to interrupt his phone conversation to ask him to please make sure not to pull away while I'm still trying to get out in my crutches. Then he told his friend on the phone to hold on to rush to help me but I had already gotten out of the car. Kidnapped by Yellow Cab LA driver. Called YC for ten minute trip to airport. Was told driver would arrive in 10-15 minutes. 30 minutes later a white car with no cab designation shows up. I get in and the "taxi" had no meter and the driver had no cab ID. He heads for LAX and before he gets there, he demands I pay him in cash right now. I refuse and he turns around & says he is taking me back to where he picked me up. He locks the doors and windows, I started pounding on the window and he stops, throws my bags in the street, lets me out and drives away. I call Yellow Cab to complain and they say it was because I didn't pay him. I missed my flight and didn't get there untill the next day. My past experience with tax companys is getting a driver who is not only lazy to load stuff, but they will perform unethical practices such as.....driving very slow in clear empty road just to have the meter go up. So I would think that actually being able to get a cab would be a key component when looking at admirable traits from any cab service. I would think that IF you were faced with extinction as I am sure many traditional cab companies have been since Uber and lyft changed the dynamic of Dayvto day travel but if you hoped to stay relevant you would on some level treat customers like you gave a f#%k. Well LA Yellow cab evidently cares not for these hallmarks of good service. No worries I got tge notice on my phone put on my coat and began my walk from the back of the house where I was to tve front throughbtge garden a total time lapse of two minutes occurred and in that two minutes tge driver decided he had waited long enough and left. Yes I was upset but knew that woukd get me nowhere so I just ordered another car. Tge young lady I spoke was very apologetic vowing to do all that she could to correct this horrible slight and get me home in a timely manner this was at approximately 135. It is now 322am and I am still waiting for a cab evidently the only car avail to pick me up was the one with the impatient driver and the company was SO concerned with thus horrible mistake that almost two hours later they have done nothing to see my problem solved in such a wY that I feel that I as a now and forever former customer was treated decently and fairly. I would not Subject any human being to the mistreatment the complete failure that in this case has been the abandonment of a customer on every imaginable scale. To those employees who dealt with me this evening whom I am sure will say they did everything they could to get me a car and driver, I say. The one job they have is to secure transportation for the customer if they can not do that successfully in three and a half hours in a city like Los Angeles then sorry but you failed horribly . This was the scariest experience I've had in a Taxi - possibly ever. We got in the pick up line to be dropped off for dinner. Uber can't pick up from LAX and since we planned to go eat first, relax from our flight/my work day and then make our way to the hotel we decided to take a cab the short distance to a restaurant and then call an Uber. I use Uber almost exclusively now for several reasons: One: everything is on a credit card, Two: the drivers almost 90% of the time speak English well, and Three: they have an app that can tell me when the car is coming/ I don't end up waiting a half hour. The driver handed me a flier which he said was about the airport, which I set aside as I looked at my phone to check the time/ consider calling the hotel to let them know we'd be late. He then started driving us to the restaurant, never turning on his meter. Upon getting close he told us all cabs have a minimum charge of $19 no matter where you go from LAX. WHAT. First off, he could have told us when we got in and told him our location (less than 5 minutes away from LAX), he could have pointed out the free shuttle nearby before we had driven almost all the way. And most of all, he could have let us out when we asked to be let out, instead of telling us he would be taking us back to the airport if we did not pay him the full $19. A total scam. I have never felt more scared in my life that a cab driver would take my things were I to leave his vehicle. I've never felt like the anonymity a cab provides the driver could actually be dangerous to me and my partner. But I have now. After arguing with him as he started to drive us back to the airport I pulled out $20, demanded to be dropped off, and got out of the cab with my stuff. I will never use a cab again. read more

On a Thursday afternoon, I booked a van for 5:30 the following morning to take my family to LAX. I received a confirmation email and text. The next morning, I received two texts telling me that my driver was en route. At 5:35, I called the company and was told that they had not been able to find a driver. I did not get our drivers name, but the cab number is 6550. We came back unexpectedly early. We had hoped to get a cab for about $50...so we were very disappointed when we were told it would be about $75. We decided to walk over to the shuttles and get a quote (different review). Came back, and the original driver was still waiting for a fare. He did not make us feel uncomfortable for coming back with our tail between our legs. He put the meter on, and we drove off. The car ride was very smooth in his smart car, which was also a nice clean car that had no bad smells or mystery stains. He drove perfectly legal, not jerky, and did not try to make any conversation, but readily answered any questions we had. Very polite and courteous. The ride was $75. Apparently they don't test their drivers to see how well they can speak or understand English. This cab driver (#6259) picked me up at LAX airport. I did not have the exact address when I wanted to go, but I DID know how to get there. I assumed the cab driver would be able to understand my directions. WRONG ! ! ! I asked Siri for the closest Yellow Cab and it came up Burbank 818.242.3131. Called a little after midnight for a pick up for me and a couple friends from a bar last night. They said 10-15 minutes but we were receiving our pick up call, stating they had arrived within about 5 minutes. Great service! Definitely the way to go to avoid those pesky expensive DUI's. I called immediately after I was dropped off at the North Hollywood Orange Line Station at Lankershim and Chandler. However, the dispatch couldn't get a hold of the driver. They asked me to call back in 15 minutes. I had a train to catch and I called again on Sunday and again the dispatch couldn't get a hold of the driver Left word with their Lost and Found on Monday and emailed them -- no response. Wow I guess I really got lucky on this one. LA Checker Cab failed me so I called these guys after finding them on Google. The cab arrived quickly. The driver was quiet and all smiles. The car was air conditioned and had decent music playing. Everything was clean and seemed pretty new. Absolutely terrible driver tonight. Saw him select the longer route to my destination from the airport, and following along my GPS he literally went in the opposite direction and took the longest possible route before heading to my place. My bill was double what it was supposed to be, and I've taken this route many times from the airport. When I told the driver he took the longer route, he lied and told me it was faster which was wrong. Not only was it a longer ride, but a much further one resulting in me paying literally double what I was supposed to, and much more expensive than Lyft would've been. read more

24th Feb 2019 Worst cab experience ever. Visiting from Australia. Got cab from Westfield Culver City. Gave him the written address to a destination 21 miles away. Still going over an hour later. Non English driver. We later ordered him to turn back but as we could see that he was not heading in a direct line to the hotel and the cost was going through the roof, we eventually ended up by telling him to drop us off. And strange, but he let us off not far from where he picked us up. After much worry and help from a friendly security officer, we got Lyft from there back to hotel to get luggage which only took 14 min and cost us $9, but, because of the taxi driver we only just made the plane before they closed the gates.. Only use them 1-2 times a year when we both need to go to the airport together, but they are consistent. I schedule my car the day before and they are always on time (even with out 4-5am schedule times). We're not far from the airport, so we usually make it there with only a $14-16 fare. read more

This morning my dad caught a yellow cab from LAX to our house in LA. He pays in cash, gets out and comes inside. About 10 minutes later, he's frantically searching around, saying he's left his wallet in the cab. He runs over to our neighbor's house who has a Ring alarm and gets the cab number and calls LA Yellow Cab. He can't get through to a live person, so he jumps in his truck and starts racing to the airport hoping to cross paths with the same cab. I keep calling from the house and eventually get a supervisor on the line. She contacts the cab my dad was in, but no wallet! My dad was PISSED, certain that the cab driver is lying. Well, turns out the wallet was in my dad's backpack. The supervisor, Bernice, was so calm and professional with my dad who was having an absolute meltdown on her. I felt so bad for her that I called her back and told her that my dad found his wallet, and I apologized to her on my dad's behalf. Bernice was so professional, and told me not to worry about it, and to have a great day. Shoutout to Bernice for being a sweetheart even in the face of a very angry man who thinks they were trying to steal from him, and shoutout to LA Yellow Cab for making tracking down the driver a very easy process, so that in the event that my dad had left his wallet in the cab, he could've gotten it back with little hassle. Also the fare was reasonable, actually cheaper than Uber believe it or not. 10/10 would recommend for your transportation needs should you ever need an affordable ride. read more

Yet, for some reason, drivers will drive past me and park in the middle of the block, without glancing around at the addresses.
