I booked a pick up online and then called them to confirm. I even gave them the nearest cross-street over the phone. They still managed not to show up. When I called to ask them where the driver was, I was told they don't have my pick up scheduled. I ended up getting an Uber, and almost missed my flight from LAX. This is the worst cab company in LA. Wow! What a great experience we just had with LA Yellow Cab! My son arrived at LAX last night - very tired from a long overseas flight. As soon as we realized he had left his small bag in the cab, we called (10:00 pm Thursday June 9th) and got an incredibly nice dispatcher- a young man from Seattle who went out of his way to be helpful, even putting us in touch with his supervisor, Eduardo, who was also incredibly helpful. Eduardo put out a message to all the cabs in the various fleets and the cab driver who had dropped my son off found the bag and actually brought it back to him!! Lax to Marina del Rey. 99% of the drivers have been simply wonderful. Polite, good drivers, good at handling my luggage and opening the door for me (from the drivers section of the car). Then always helping me out when I need help. Sometimes I have to ask. But, always cheerful. I did file a complaint about one driver. I kept my receipt since I pay with a credit card, I had the taxi number, the date, the time, all making it clear who the bad seed is. And thus making it easier for the company to address the specific person and educate him to not be a complete fool in every aspect of his behavior. My father drove a taxi for Yellow Cab many years ago. It is tedious to drive all day. But, as one cab driver said, "It's like fishing, one time you get a big fish, other times you get small fish, but that's fishing." His name is Nelson. He's a great guy. We appreciate the good guys. And when one disgraces the profession by being anything less than a gentleman or lady, we all need to report it to the company. I put in an on-line reservation on June 4, 2022 for service on June 5, 2022; pickup time: 11 AM. No cab came. I called at 11:15 AM and computer voice said "we're looking for a driver". I waited 30 minutes and called back because no cab came and the computer voice just repeated "we're looking for a driver." After another fifteen to thirty minutes, I called and asked to talk to a person. After being on hold for a while, someone answered and said they were looking for a driver to pick me up and that there was a shortage of cabs over the weekend and that I'd made my reservation at 4:30 in the afternoon. I said the time didn't matter; only that I had made my reservation the day before I needed the cab. It got to be 1 PM and still no cab. Got a computer call saying the cab was on its way. Locked my front door and waited outside for thirty minutes, but no cab came. Called company again and talked to a person. Told him to cancel my reservation since he said they were still looking for a driver to pick me up. This is unacceptable. I needed to go to the hospital to visit my critically ill mother and don't have car or ride. I had to just call the hospital and ask about her. read more

In an attempt to be responsible we decided to cab it for our ladies night. worst idea ever. First cab took over an hour to pick us up. Then instead of listening to us our driver was talking on his cell and almost took the fwy in the opposite direction. He ended up making a huge loop and costing us extra. he was a complete moron and said his ABS wasn't working... so we got to the bar and then hopped in another yellow cab to take us to a bar about a mile away. I clearly said the address and neighborhood and the driver took us on a $20 trip around the city. Trying to dump us off at other bars when we kept repeating the address over and over. Finally... after having our nights ruined with shitty cab drivers, we just had him take us home. and he sped 70 mph down Venice blvd. in a not so safe manner. fuck off yellow cab. you ruined our night. read more

Do not rely on LA Yellowcab for a ride to the airport! It looks like a common theme to reserve airport rides and drivers not show up. They were still looking for drivers at the time of pick-up. They could not offer any status update when I called. I ended up cancelling the reservation and taking two Lyfts for our group to avoid missing my flight. read more

I was a bit concerned about using this cab service, after reading the other reviews, but they had the most reviews of any other cab service in the area we were in while we visited LA last. Our experience was just fine. In fact, it was great! They confirmed the dispatch via SMS. The pick up was timely and the drive to the airport was safe. So today I took my car into the dealer for service. They had my car all day an to tell me at 3:15 the shuttle was coming 2.5 hrs later they call me an say they are coming from Pacoima. WTH??? Any way, called yellow cab and Marty was here in about 15 mins. He was a nice guy and talkative. The cab stunk really bad of cigarette smoke, which I hate, even having the window down did not help. He got me there safely which is most important, i cannot believe it cost me 25.00 to go 6-8 miles. I will be trying to get that back from the dealer for sure! read more

I've been using this company for the past year and it's very hit or miss, depending on the driver. Today was just a shittier driver. I always make it a point to tip, even if it's a short drive or I don't make it on time. I didn't today for the following reasons (and the driver threw a tantrum, which was pretty sad). 1. I got on the taxi, I tell the guy the address, and he keeps ignoring me and then asks me the address after I've said it a few times. It turns out he was ignoring me because he wanted me to just direct him there?? What the hell? He didn't want to type it in his GPS. When I said I didn't know how to get there, but I knew the address, he kept asking how to get there multiple times. Your GPS is right there, just enter it instead of asking me..it wasn't even a long address. 2. He took the damn freeway. There wasn't any traffic locally, the place is within 10 miles and he went the long way to go on the freeway. Really? I'm pretty sure it wasn't the most efficient route because I've taxied to the location more than once, at around the same time. 3. He basically tipped himself by taking the freeway. The freeway added over $5 to the fare, and took a huge loop to get there. 4. He threw a b-tchfit and lectured me about tipping. I do feel bad about not tipping but given the same circumstances I think I would've done the same thing. This review has First World Problems/Entitlement B-tch written all over it, but fear not, I take the bus 4x more often than I take a cab, and when I do take a cab I normally tip. read more

I probably would have given this cab company more stars because it was actually the right amount of fare, took minimal time to get to the destination and my heart only stopped beating once at a near accident. But damn, the cab driver stank to high heaven. Hey, buddy, have you taken a shower this week at all? And have you ever heard of this thing called anti-perspirant? The worse part was sitting directly behind the driver and feeling like my head was in his armpits the whole time. I tried to distract myself with reading the signs in the cab which is why the name of the cab company and its location and phone number were emblazoned in my mind. I use Yellow Cab for two reasons. 1) Rides to airport 2) Rides to and from home when having a drink. I wish I could write a great review for every cab ride I've taken, but that would be false information. Yellow Cab is really hit and miss. Most of my experiences have been with drivers that are rude. Some are friendly and helpful, but they are very few. All drivers are suppose to be equipped to take your credit card. 99% of them expect cash and will give you some reason as to why they cannot take credit cards, such as, the machine is down or it takes a long time to process the payment. I've had several tell me yes they would accept my credit card and then try to talk me into paying cash during the ride to my destination. I've had to use their services many, many times. Just hold your ground if you want to use your credit card. Lots of these guys smell like B.O. as if they haven't showered for days. You may have to ask them to roll down a window or two. I've had several put their cigarettes out just before picking me up with the stench lingering strong in the rear seats. Like I said before, there have been some drivers that were great, but they're not allowed to give their number out to contact directly. Anyway, be cautious and don't be intimidated by the ones that are pushy or rude. I've called to complain about some the serious jerks. You can too by obtaining their cab # which is posted inside of the vehicle. I will continue to use these guys only as a last option. I have become very familiar with other forms of public transportation such as the Orange, Red and Blue Lines to avoid using Yellow Cab when I can. Travel safe my friends. read more

If you have somewhere important to go DO NOT USE THEM. I was running late for my flight and was depending on them to make it on time. I was only 20 minutes.. 20 MINUTES from LAX they said. They claimed to be 5 minutes away. I thought "GREAT!" 10 minutes later nothing. Called back and they claimed I gave them the wrong address. I was in a rush so maybe I did, either way NO ONE CALLED ME TO LET ME KNOW THEY COULD NOT FIND ME. I say that because when you call, the first thing they do is ask for your PHONE NUMBER!! So you do not waste time like I did, in short I had to call them 4-5 times to reenter my request for a pickup. Each time I was told 5 minutes and I would wait 10-15 with no results. None of the times did they ever call me to say they could not find me or was otherwise not coming. They called once to say they were on their way however they never showed. One of the times I called to check up I was told no cab was even assigned to the area I was in... keep in mind I need to go to the AIRPORT! Just because I was so disgusted with their results I called them one last time ( to pick me up) right before I gave up and hopped on the bus. Going on 2 hours and still nothing. The weird part is that when I said they didn't get my correct address they still said it would be $50. How can you estimate the price for an address you do not even have in your system? Either the address WAS right, and it was $50 or they were trying to scam me. The price changed again later, the driver said $30. Clearly there is something fishy going on here and they DO NOT go by landmarks. COMPLETELY GPS DEPENDENT. If you do not know the EXACT address and adjacent street don't bother. I don't get it, I guess. I called Yellow Cab and spoke to the courteous, professional dispatcher [I do not need him to be my best buddy]. I requested a pickup the following morning for 7 A M. He set the time and told me someone would call about 6:45 AM and a young lady did, telling me the cab driver would be right outside in about 5 minutes. Holy molly, he was. We had a great ride. My driver was from Somalia [8 years ago], so we talked about the good, the bad, and the evil there. Great fun, at least for me. Clean cab, too, at 1/2 the limousine price. At the airport, he dropped me off and I went on my way. I leave it up to you, then: am I wrong or are the others? The worst service. Ever. I just landed at Bob Hope Airport and walked over to the taxi area and immediately met with a man that guided me to his car. I arrived tired and thought he would load my one bag in his trunk. Surprisingly, I had to load it. He got upset when I told him where to turn and I only did so because he was going past my street! Very rude the whole way, I'm actually pissed off at myself for tipping him a measly $3! He didn't even deserve that. Sucks. Cab driver was hard to understand and had a hard time understanding me. Pulled the cab over at one point because he got frustrated when I asked about a student discount because there was a notice posted about UCLA and USC students but I was unsure what it was talking about. He said something about not getting his money and was ready to kick me out because I handed him my UCLA id that, I think, he said they do not take anymore. Usually Yellow Cab is quick and reliable picking up where I live (WeHo), but there have been a few significant issues: 1) after taking a cab to an airport, I have twice had issues where it couldn't process the credit card payment due to internet connectivity. The first time, my husband and the driver had to drive around to get a connection. The second, I called to pay by phone. When one is in a hurry to catch a plane, spending 5-10 minutes trying to pay really sucks. 2) I called a cab once from Hollywood Hills and it just never showed. Called for a cab around 4 pm on Friday. Needed to go from West Hollywood to Union Station. We allotted extra time for traffic and whatever when we called. We were told by dispatch it would be five to fifteen minutes. Dispatch called and said that the driver was a half mile away and eta was three minutes. I went outside to wait, because usually, when they say five to fifteen minutes, it's right around five. Twenty minutes passed and nothing. My friend called them and they said he would be right there. Ten more minutes and still NOTHING! Finally, the driver showed up. No explanation, no apology NOTHING. He was rude and silent the entire time, and when we got to Union Station he did not even want to open the mini van door for me to get out. Here I was with shopping bags and an oversized purse- could have used a hand to get out- but was instead forced to make a ungraceful exit on my own. NEVER EVER using them again. When the cab failed to show on time I called and an automated answering machine told me they were not yet able to locate a driver. Horrible experience. Reserved a cab from Marina Del Rey to LAX the day before my trip. On the day of my trip, they called me 5 mins before they were due to pick me up to say it'd be 35-45 mins more! I've had 3 experiences with this company. 1) Another cab company never showed up after multiple calls to them and lies that they'd be there in 5 mins, so I called this company after waiting for the other company 45 mins. The dispatcher told me the driver would be there within 15 mins, and 14 mins later, there he was. Very polite and got me to my doctor's appt quickly. I deducted one star because the online rate estimate was $104 but the dispatcher told me it would be $70. Sure enough, the rate upon arrival was $104. Luckily, I'd brought enough cash. 2) Very poor service. Saturday night. After 2 calls & waiting 45 mins, I had to call a 3rd time and cancel because the place I needed to get to was closed. 3) Third experience was great. I had nothing but a negative experience with this cab company. Oh I'm quite angry, yes. I think that if you're looking for a decent cab company then look elsewhere. My issue with this company is their timeliness. No, actually it is not even the timeliness, but rather the actual arrival of a taxi. It never showed up. That's right folks, I called the service and was expecting a taxi to arrive in 5-10 minutes. Well, 10 minutes passed and no taxi. I then called the number back and the woman confirmed my taxi was on its way with a rather harsh tone. I then patiently waited another 10 minutes, but to no avail. Never again will I take a Yellow Cab when traveling into LAX. The driver of 6649 created such a stink picking us up that I am done with this company. When we (family of 4) arrived and were next in line to be picked up, the lady behind us volunteers to take the small taxi while we take 6649 (an SUV). She jumps into the small cab and this driver REFUSES to take us. I suppose it's because the young lady was nice looking. Whatever the case, he was wrong and we reported him. read more

It's a cab company, not a limo service. Honestly if you leave something anywhere just expect it to be stolen, it's essentially public transit, not your friend's car. If you left it, assume it's gone, rejoice if it's found. Yes it's not service with a smile but I generally expect to get from point a to point b without getting lost and generally on time. Yes sometimes the cabbie wants YOU to be the GPS so you can't argue with them for taking xyz route and hiking up the fees. Maybe I'm from new york so the cab drivers out here actually seem a lot nicer. I've taken this same cab company for years now and had weekly pickups for 6 months straight when I was consulting and only had one incident where they didn't show up when I had scheduled. The taxi magic is a great enhancement and makes it so convenient. I love that a text message is automatically sent when the driver is in the vicinity. Bring CASH if you are paying in car, they'll take Credit Card if you ask nicely but they will gripe about it. I'm in west LA and it usually takes them 10min to dispatch so maybe they have a location near me, any place outside this vicinity I'm not sure how the service is. read more
