One of the best sushi spots I've had a in a while actually. We didn't really do any appetizers and went straight in for the fish. Started off with a couple of hand rolls, we did the crab hand roll and O toro hand roll. Crab hand roll wasn't as impressive, I've had better to be honest. I didn't let that experience ruin it for me because the toro hand roll was delicious. I think they add a piece of mint and it complimented the hand roll. Very crunchy nori wrapper and good rice to fish ratio. For our sushi we started with chu toro tuna, salmon belly, and halibut. Super fresh melt in your mouth quality. Halibut was interesting with the truffle, first time definitely won't be the last. We ended it with red snapper and black snapper. Absolutely amazing, I think the black snapper or the red snapper was slightly charred. It was so good. To say the least, this restaurant was worth it!

The plaza itself is unassuming, and at 7pm on a Thursday, most other businesses in the plaza had closed. The lot was full, so we paid $12 for valet parking across the street. We waited for about 10 minutes for our seats at the bar, and honestly, the bar was so much fun! We sat right in front of our sushi chef and orated our orders directly to him, piece by piece. He was such a jovial soul and made our experience so warm and enjoyable. I was very impressed not only with his ability to make sushi but the attention and care he paid to his customers. For example, he noticed that I especially enjoyed the fattier cuts of fish such as ootoro and salmon toro, so when I ordered yellowtail, he recommended that I try the kanpachi toro instead. It was a great recommendation, and in that moment, I felt so seen. The chefs here are truly masters of their craft, both in sushi making and hospitality. In total, I had the toro, salmon, unagi, scallops, kanpachi, salmon toro, and kanpachi toro. Every piece of nigiri I had was very fresh and delicious. My favorite pieces of sushi had to be the toro. You actually get two different cuts of toro with one order, chuutoro and ootoro which are medium fatty and full fatty respectively. Each piece was so delicious and indulgent, I don't know if I can choose a favorite. I had a wonderful experience at Sushi Gen, and I think that sitting at the bar was way more fun than what sitting at a table would've been. I loved getting to interact with our sushi chef and felt very well taken care of. The sushi was amazing. I'm already plotting an excuse for my next visit.

When I almost finished mine, my family is still waiting for theirs. You do see the staff walk by the tables constantly. However, I would hope the servers would ask how is everything and if we need anything else. Overall, sushi tastes fine. I probably won't be back given the experience that we had.

Today I walked in to satisfy my sushi craving. Did not disappoint. The crouching tiger was crunchy and the eel sauce was a great pair. I've gone to La Zona twice and I will say the food and service has not disappointed. It's a shame not many people know about this place. They have a large variety of food from pho and ramen to baked salmon rolls and more. Rolls are always filling and cut in big pieces. Definitely will be coming back! read more

He mentioned it was their first day, so a few items on the menu weren't available yet, but most of it was ready to order. We decided to start with a few appetizers to get a feel for the food. We tried the Croquet, Takoyaki, and Chicken Yakitori. The cashier also suggested a Korean drink called Sikhye, which they make in house, and we gave that a try as well. Everything we ordered was enjoyable, but the Croquet stood out as my favorite. It had a perfectly crisp exterior with a creamy, soft center. The Takoyaki was cooked nicely, though I did miss the bonito flakes and a dipping sauce. The Chicken Yakitori was tender with a good grilled flavor. We were hoping to try their Kimbap, but it wasn't available that day. Even so, we plan to return and explore more of the menu. This place is still new, but it shows a lot of promise. The hospitality we experienced was another highlight and one of the reasons we look forward to coming back.

We loved the fresh juices she made us and the Asian plates she would cook up. I remember my favorite was chop suey veggies and beef. It was delicious. The ambience was always comforting.
