For less than $100 before tip, we had such an intimate and lovely meal here! It's such a hidden gem especially since I never come to this plaza. It's on second floor and I love that the restaurant has ample window seatings. The menus came with 3 separate menus, sushi, a la carte sushi and bbq, and AYCE for both. There's happy hour as well. My friends and I have been coming to this place for about two years, and it is our absolute favorite AYCE spot! I believe they semi-recently changed management, and the prices have gone down, while the quality and service have been the same if not better. All the servers and staff are wonderful and attentive, but Alex is the absolute best! She is always so sweet and genuine, helped surprise me on my birthday, and helped us out when we made a mistake with the new tablet ordering system. In terms of actual food and dishes, I think the nigiri is the most satisfying thing to eat here. The fish tastes good, of course, but the rice is also perfectly seasoned, and the ratio of rice to fish is good! Not too much rice! Simple nigiri like the salmon, tuna, tamago, and shrimp are super good, but I also love love LOVE how they make the lemon pepper salmon. I went to this restaurant back in late April and I am still thinking about how delicious the Brussel sprout appetizer was... unexpected star of the AYCE menu. With that in mind, service was good, and it was nice and quiet, which is very relieving when spending all day shopping in Little Tokyo. For best results, when you're first seated, order drinks and your first round of food at the same time, as each tablet order requires a 10 minute waiting period after placing an order. Nigiri orders are 1 piece at per order, some other places do 2 per order. This way, you'll get your food and drinks to start without wasting time. Pricing and food selection is comparable to other AYCE in Southern California. So why the 3 stars then? I was browsing to remember the name of the Brussels sprout appetizer dish and seeing the owner upload AI generated flyers in the media tab here gave me a nasty after taste. In an area abundant with artists, it's much easier to just hire someone (or use simple tools like MS Word) to make a flyer. If a restaurant can't be bothered to make their own flyer, it makes me question what else they might be cutting corners on as well. It tasted terrific, the perfect combination of creamy, sweet and savory. The Dynamite Roll is felt like had way too much crab mix on top. Did the premium ayce and it really wasn't worth it. I wasn't sure what the reviews about uncut sashimi were about but now I know. The sushi pieces are still connected at 1 point but will separate if you hold it up long enough for gravity to act. The bbq is NOT worth it. Overly greasy and tough bland pieces of meat. I did not appreciate the pacing of the nigiri and sashimi items. They took way too long and with such an empty restaurant and sloppy knife work, it really should've come out earlier. The lemon pepper salmon was about the only tasty sushi on the menu. I've been coming to this restaurant for AYCE for about two years as of this review. I find that a lot of the criticism levied against Tokyo Haus expects a restaurant that caters to all types of customers. I find that restaurants are like works of art in that art that tries to appeal to everyone won't appeal to anyone. I think Tokyo Haus's excellence will always be found in the AYCE option. That's what makes it a great restaurant. Becoming a regular here has been a delight, especially after finding our favorite items and sections of the menu. The service was unremarkable at first, but with some geniality and consideration, the servers will open up to you and take care of you. Over the past year or so, we've come to appreciate Alex, who always makes sure our meals are delicious. The restaurant itself is temperate and not too loud with plenty of space between tables/booths. The music playing is not too loud and allows for conversation to flow. They upgraded their ordering system to a tablet-based system a while ago, which has greatly streamlined the ordering process. If you're looking for recommendations on what to order, I highly recommend trying one of the AYCE options and ordering the lemon pepper salmon nigiri (I order at least 50 pieces of it every time!).
