I tried it out for the first time today. I usually pass by at least once a week never knew it was a Chinese food spot until I was looking for some for lunch today. This small restaurant is located on the corner of Pacific and Zoe. It's a cool little space. I like the drapes or whatever it's called hanging in the door entrance so there's no door when entering the establishment. It was clean and the service was cool. You prepare your own plate like at a buffet but in to go containers and then you weigh it before paying. I got yellow fried rice, chow mein, orange chicken, beef and broccoli as well as some honey shrimp. The food tastes alright to me. Nothing was special or really stood out. I love supporting small businesses and prefer the local mom and pop Chinese food restaurants over Panda Express, however, I think I would've been more satisfied going there instead. I didn't like the fact they had yellow fried rice. I was expecting traditional friend rice. The chow mein was cool. The broccoli was cool. Didn't care for the beef though. The orange chicken was alright and so was the honey shrimp. The flavors could've been better. I spent $15.87. Not sure if I'll be back for the food. Saw a homeless man digging in trash cans while at work so I just gave him my plate. It was still hot and he was very appreciative. I was going to eat it still but after seeing that, I wasn't hungry anymore. I usually give spots a 2nd try unless the experience was too overwhelming or disappointing. I've been a customer at this restaurant for over 5 years. I've always purchased food and various boba drinks. Unfortunately I had a very negative experience that ruined my entire perception of this establishment and made me come to the decision that I will never be a customer here again. I purchased a Thai tea with boba and realized that it tasted very sour. This has never happened to me before and I have purchased the same type of drink without issues. I decided to return to the store with the drink to let the staff know. When I told the female worker (who to my understanding is the manager) she was shocked and seemed almost offended. She told me that no one has ever had that issue and even questioned if it was my first time purchasing there. I reaffirmed that it was sour and she just stared at me and kept denying. I suggested she try it herself to see what I meant. When she did she insisted that it tasted fine and that thai tea always tastes that way. She was clearly annoyed throughout the whole interaction and told me that she couldn't give me a refund since the drink was fine according to her. I asked if she could at least make me another type of drink and she laughed. She did end up making me another but not without giving me attitude, shaking her head continuously, rolling her eyes, and talking to her coworker about the situation in their language. When she was finished she slammed the drink on the counter in front of me. I thanked her for the drink but let her know that her behavior was uncalled for and I didn't come in with the intention of causing issues or trying to take advantage. I felt embarrassed because she raised her voice at me when everything happened even though other customers were around, one even checked up on me when we both exited. Overall I'm very disappointed and hope this doesn't happen to anyone else. However, if you're looking for a restaurant with a lack of professionalism, poor customer service, and questionable food quality give this place a visit. read more

Don't judge me for what I'm about to say: I used to go get Chinese food and think "how cool would it be if I was behind the counter and could serve my own food?" Lol. Well at Corner Kitchen you can do just that. Walk in, grab yourplate, and serve yourself whatever you want and as much as you want. It doesn't hurt that the food is pretty damn tasty. I'm not overly fond of every item but the usual items I get (rice, chowmein, orange chicken, chicken stick) are good. The prices are pretty good too, your paying for weight. They also sell frozen yogurt but its limited flavors, still good though. I used to like this place because you pay per ounce or pound. The last time I went to this place I found a small piece of metal in my food it look like maybe a piece of. Metal Brillo scrubbier but I thought ok that was probably not preventable cause they have to scrub the grill. Today I go again get beef broccoli and some of the broccoli heads have what look like mold. So I don't think I'll go here again. Just be careful when eating at this place. read more

It cannot get better than this!.. Chinese food with a Yogurtland kind feeling! You get charged $3.20 a pound, which is kind of good because at times you don't want to eat that much and just want an appetizer. Me and my friends just came out of an arcade and we were hungry but couldn't find a good place to eat. We were about to give up and go home but decided to stop by the corner kitchen just to see and I am very glad we did. They looked like they were closed but they let us in. They're smoothie machine was turned off but I really wanted a smoothie with Boba and they quickly turned the machine on and made a delicious smoothie for me. The food was Chinese and was arranged like a buffet so you could pick and choose what you wanted. They probably let us choose the food buffet style cause they were getting ready to close. Wow, this place is awesome. The Chinese food is literally fresh, they do portions as food is going they make a new batch. They charge by the weight and that awesome because you can serve yourself what you want instead of getting little to no meat from the usual fast food places.
