La Zoom reopened while I was in Asheville and I knew I needed to take a tour. I'm happy I did and Bridget was the best! She was both funny and creative and yet empathetic to the current situation. She is very talented! The tour route is slightly changed because of road closures. But the tour is the same with the comedy and history provided as the tour goes on. It still provides the escape needed. The La Zoom Room is a fun place to hand out before the tour starts. They have a bar with alcohol and non-alcoholic beverages and some snacks. What a strange ghost comedy show. You must enjoy quirky stuff or this may not be for you. We impulsively bought tickets as we were walking by with our adventure cat. The staff was sooooo accommodating but even for a highly flexible and adventurous cat, this show was a bit too loud for him. He handled it like a champ but it was a cat-parenting fail. My friend and I went to La Zoom comedy tour when we were in NC. It was definitely a different way to see the city. I would highly recommend going there if you're looking for tours. They start you off with giving a rubber chicken with a number. Once they call your number, you can go on the bus. As you're on the tour, you can have adult beverages. Throughout the tour, we met other actors that would climb on the bus and have some sort of funny dialogue. The tour guide was very interactive with the guests and knew how to work the audience. About halfway through, we stopped at a local brewery for about 10-15 mins. Once the tour was over, they had a comedy night/open mic where you checked in. I thought the guy that started out talking to us was dynamic & funny until our actual tour guide, Cookie Carter, came on the bus. She was hilarious & delightful and I really appreciate her positive spirit! The guy's comedy bits were a little corny, but the bee was the funniest. The only thing I wish was different was instead of the beer stop (which was awesome for a bathroom break), I wish we could have had some of those Sammie's ICE CREAM SANDWICHES! We kept meaning to go by there, but wasn't able to this visit. Cookie really sold us on that ice cream. Lol. I would want to bring everyone I know on this tour! The hardest part was trying to figure out parking, but the garage across the street was perfect because it was only $5, I think. We're still laughing the next morning after our Friday November 7th ghost tour. This experience was way better than I expected. These are pro comedians with a well practiced show. And they still work in the history of the area. Glen was our spooky, somewhat creepy in a hilarious way, guide who also entertained us with some amazing guitar playing. I was surprised when we were boarded by our first historic guest boarding (played by the talented Corrine, sp?). This happened several times through out our journey. I don't want to give away any more of the surprises. I just want to impress how talented these folks are and I feel like we got more than our money's worth. So glad we signed up for this tour. FUN and FUNNY! There's a beer and wine bar at the meeting point so go at least 30 minutes early. They can even outfit you with a mini cooler for the road. Tip, the night we went was a little windy and cold so I suggest a jacket. The roll-up plastic windows were open a couple of inches at the bottom and the breeze came in at times when the vehicle picked up speed. These were short periods of only a few minutes and we survived. Totally worth it. read more

I was there 9/19/25 730 pm and raining. I have been twice before and loved it (pre-covid). This was the first Ghost tour. It was terrible. Only one guy who couldnt remember locations of the characters and thought it was funny to ask the bus driver. Mainly though he was a poor story teller. He even made a dis on RFK Jr. And said he didnt like him and if anyone complained he would do it more then laughed. Politics ahould not be a part of Ghostly La zoom tour. There was only him. This is so hard to rate. I know this is a comedy tour so I am trying my hardest to be fair based on that. But I wanted it to be scary!!! At least a little bit. But it wasn't scary whatsoever. It was fun though so I can't hate on it. The comedy was cheesy but enjoyable. It was pouring rain and they did a great job of making sure that everyone was dry and comfortable. I can't understand the high reviews for this tour. We took the Ghosted - one hour, night tour (7:30 pm). For your ticket, you got driven around Asheville, with beers and wine in hand (if you purchased them from LaZoom) and enjoyed a live performance of a show while seated in an open air bus. The host was a "murdered girl ghost" and her acting was amazing. Somehow she was able to tell a few ghost stories while the bus was moving, and timed with with other "characters" running on/off the bus in the streets and neighborhoods. Overall, the execution was really good. Maybe I am not good with the "f-bomb" humor and it was hard to catch all the lines since the bus was so loud. Value (2/5): At $37 per person, this was way too much to pay. I would have been more comfortable with a $20 price tag. Service (5/5): The hosts inside LaZoom were super nice, the guide was great too. No complaints. Atmosphere (4/5): Before the ride, there was a really nice lounge area with large comfy seats and stuffed cats, which makes for a great pics. This purple bus cruising around town is iconic and you'll just see crowds of people screaming, "LaZoOoOoOm!!" It's a staple within Asheville community and I don't think I've ever been on any other bus tour with the same experience. The Ghosted: Comedy Bus Tour we purchased for $33 + 4.50 fees is mostly Comedy with some loose facts time and place with characters woven into the performance. When you arrive to their building you check in by name on the reservation and they'll hand you a rubber chicken with a number, which indicates your priority to board. First come first serve. We arrived about 15 minutes before the scheduled time and got #5 on a Saturday night. They have so many whimsical decorations inside from skeletons to hidden cat pillows and mannequins for photo op while you wait. You can also order a drink that you can bring onto the bus. They didn't start boarding onto the open air bus until another 10 minutes after the ticket time. Comedy is subjective, so I can understand that some of the bits won't land with everyone. There was one line in particular slipped in passing by the comedian who played Beezlebus maybe from Stanley Kubrik's Full Metal Jacket that just made me uncomfortable when he referenced the line "Me love you long time". My SO insisted that it was part of pre-scripted monologue... At the same time, I don't even understand how it related to the context of any of the jokes or would have added value to the tour. Of course no one else picked up on the unnecessary racist line, since we were sitting in the front. I need to deduct at least 1 star for this alone. The show moved on quickly. There were some self deprecating jokes about studying Liberal Arts/English at the local UNC while working this job with some audience participation so it seemed like they had fun working the crowd. The rest of the show was entertaining overall. I enjoyed the comedienne following the bus changing into the character to board the bus. Some of the notable characters were Zelda Fitzerald, the Pig Man, nun, etc... and I enjoyed the banter between the 2 characters much more than the host alone. The volume with music was too loud. The bus driver maneuvered the streets slowly aside from this one section behind the UNC campus so it was impressive seeing Beezlebus sing and dance on a moving vehicle. It was interesting seeing the contrast with the sites we visited at night when we also took the traditional Hop On/Hop Off bus tour a couple days later. I'd recommend they revisit the scripted jokes and tighten the material. I'd be interested to see how their standard comedy tour and kid's show differ. The biking nun also appears to be iconic within the city. If you lookup things to do in Asheville this surely tops the lists. It's worth checking out, especially if you can get a 10% discount for tours Sunday-Thursday. If you're local in the county you can get 20% off. Otherwise not sure if I can fully recommend it's worth the ~$38 before tipping the crew. read more

I had gone here years ago when I first moved in Asheville, so this was my second time. It was probably 10 years sense so it was definitely a different experience. I have always recommend in Lazoom as something to do that is touristy, but also worth it, and I stand true to that. They recommend you arrive 15 minutes early and we arrived about 13 minutes early because we could we'd take a few minutes to get the check. We were graced with the chicken of shame but the person who checked us in was incredibly friendly about it and it was all just a joke. However, they run a tight shit so I would definitely get there early. You no longer make the stop at thirsty Monk and you do work I need to purchase your drinks from them. I will say that for Asheville, the drinks are pretty affordable. They have beer, wine, seltzer... I'd recommend getting 1 to 2 for the tour as it lasts exactly an hour. I would also recommend going to the bathroom beforehand or getting there extra early. There was quite a long line for the bathroom. Our tour guide was Lorelei, and they were incredibly well practiced and engaging. They did a great job, mixing history with humor and a little bit of improv. The other staff that joined intermittently on the tour was also an incredible actor. Great theatrics all around. For the price, I feel like this is quite expensive. Especially as you definitely need to tip. I also feel like the route is a little shorter, and you feel pretty rushed so that they can get the next tour started. Years ago I did the original tour and this time I did a haunted one which is offered in October. Honestly, I would definitely go again a few years as they change things up and it's totally worth it. read more
