I was pleasantly surprised by the toy selection--it really shows the extra thought they put into making kids comfortable. Then the next day they sent another automated message reminding me to reschedule because "my health is important." Their automated systems clearly do not match what is actually happening at the clinic. Patients should not be allowed to book appointments that the clinic cannot fulfill, and they should not be told they missed an appointment when the clinic had no provider available. This was a frustrating experience and a major breakdown in scheduling and communication. I understand you are saying this was caused by an unexpected provider call-out. However, that does not explain the core failure. My questions were not simply why the provider was absent. The lady proceeded to take a walk-in, someone who missed her appt., and someone who had the 11am appointment all before she saw him--so he was waiting nearly an hour to be seen! Rightfully so, he was not happy. Someone please train her on using the appointment board appropriately, along with teaching her time management and customer service skills. The office moved locations, and the address I had saved was the old one. When I realized the mistake, Google Maps wasn't giving me the correct directions. Instead of being able to call the office directly, I was routed to Hoag Member Services, where I spent 5-10 minutes on hold just trying to get directions. The reminder texts also have no office addresses. I had already driven 40 minutes, arranged childcare early that morning, and was doing everything I could to make it to my appointment. I arrived 18 minutes late and was turned away because the grace period is 15 minutes. Missing an appointment over three minutes after spending so much time simply trying to reach someone for directions was incredibly frustrating. I also called Patient Relations and left a voicemail but never received a call back. Hoag really needs to make it easier for patients to contact their doctor's office directly. I understand the need for office policies, but there also needs to be some common sense and flexibility when the delay is caused by Hoag's own communication system. Again, Dr. Ramsey is wonderful, and I'll continue seeing her. I just hope Hoag improves the patient experience because this was completely avoidable.
