I used to consign here a few years ago and they were great. They took lots and were very friendly. It was an older lady working the counter. Now, they are pickier and the clothes are the same as they were in the past - same styles. They got new girls up front - kinda impersonal, and dare I say... a bit snooty and overly picky when choosing what to consign. SERIOUSLY...Perhaps I'm just cranky that they didn't take more of my clothes. As a shopper, the clothes are great. They always have a great array of items and it's fun to dig through. Three people working here and not one could acknowledge my presence or help me get the door as I pulled my stroller in and on the way out. As far as consignment shops go, this one is pretty darn good! This small little store has some good deals going on! I rarely leave the store without finding something I like. I like that they have some high-end pieces (e.g. Cole Haan handbags) as well as some moderately priced pieces (e.g. think Banana Republic, Free People). Another big plus for me is that the store is reasonably organized. So, some minuses. The sales associates are pretty chatty amongst themselves but will help if you ask for it. This doesn't bother me so much since I just want to be left alone when I shop anyway. The other thing is their lack of mirrors!! I had to go into the dressing room to see how a handbag would look on me as there is only 1 full length mirror besides the ones in the dressing rooms! Would be 5 stars if there was a little more room. Not their fault though. I love it here and almost always find something great! Only problem is, they tend to know what things are worth and you won't find a $5 cashmere sweater or a pair of leather Fleuvogs for $10. Alas. Went to this consignment store after one of my customers recommended it. I design and make my own line of clothing and accessories that I sell on my website and at juried art shows. Everything is new. I also brought in some of my own garments a lot of them brand new and still with tags on them and all brand labels. Two huge arms full of clothing on hangers. Nicole was the name of the woman who helped me. She send me off and said she would need 30 minutes to go through them. When I came back she said she was not interested in any of them. They were looking for current garments and certain labels. I was dumb founded after looking around and seeing a lot of garments that were not have as nice looking as mine. I stop in here EVERY time I am in Seattle...I am only there once a year, but this is honestly the only store I go to on my visit. I find JUST enough things to make it VERY difficult to zip up my suitcase. Any more stores would not be a good idea. My average purchase is over $100, but I get a ton of stuff. read more

Just yesterday I wore an Odille skirt I bought at Labels, and I enjoyed the practice on how to take a compliment well. I always find at least 4 or 5 things I love here, and since the shop is pretty small, that's really saying something. The small size of the shop is wonderful, too, because it isn't so overwhelming the way Goodwill can be. I feel like Labels is the perfect marriage of value and beauty, because while it does cost more than Goodwill, it only costs a little bit more -- and a huge percentage of the inventory is gorgeous. Much less sorting involved. The staff is not all up in your business, but the minute I asked a question they were friendly and smiley and helpful -- that's perfection in my opinion. read more

Wow, this small store is packed with great stuff. I was in there for about 10 minutes and found four or five things that I would have bought immediately if I had not just put myself on a strict budget. The prices were great, too. They had everything from cute, trendy no-name purses for $15 to some Louboutins for something like $125-$130 or so - with the original, still readable $795 sticker stuck to the bottom. The store was packed and because of my aforementioned budget, I scooted out of there without buying anything, but I will definitely be back. read more

This is, however, a very similar shop in many ways. Seattle Labels has fantastic regular clothes, lots of jewelry, shoes and handbags, a bit of designer, but not a lot. Most of the inventory is higher-end mall shop, all in perfect condition. They have their selection process down to an art, there is no digging through worn out GNW t-shirts to find a treasure, it really is all great. This is extra beneficial because Labels is a super tiny little street-side spot. There is a super tiny little room at the back with maternity and girls' clothing, also. The whole place is extremely well-organized, bright, clean, fun and full of clothes that you really want to buy (sizes XS-XL, no plus sizes). In other words, just what a consignment shop should be. In all honesty, Bellingham prices are quite a bit lower so I suffered some sticker shock, but all shops in Seattle charge more than we do up here in the boonies. ($16 for a GAP skirt, really?) While whipping through racks I was tempted to try on 90% of everything I saw and did delve into the changing room with several great dresses. They weren't a perfect fit so I didn't purchase-the higher prices saved me some moola here. If they had been cheaper I would have bought them anyway and then not worn them because they didn't fit right. Hmmm. Perhaps they are on to something... So if you are in the area (exit 172/85th Street) and feel the need to shop, Seattle Labels is absolutely worth the stop. The shop opened a bit late and the service was tad indifferent, but not unfriendly. I'm pretty hip to the thrift scene but I'm tired of going to the Ave and trying to "fit in" with all the style-conscious youth. What happened to good, clean, interesting clothes? Labels is really small, but packs a punch. They have normal sizes, and normal styles and yet you don't have to spend hours in there to find something *good*. Other thrift stores are stuck in the past, but Labels, because it's consignment, stays trendy but also affordable. I just want a bit more elbow room. read more

I could browse and shop in this friendly neighborhood consignment shop every day and see some new treasure! Purses, jewelry and scarves as well. I love this place! I call every few months with a batch of items and can get an appointment about 2 weeks out. They seem to be pretty experienced at knowing what will sell - I can honestly say when I come with items that I already think are a bit out of date, those are the ones they say they cannot take. Everything else they keep and typically sells. I also like, if you want, they will donate to an organization that helps disadvantaged folks with work attire any items that either they won't take or doesn't sell. Or you can take it back and do with as you wish. It's all very convenient - they give you a card telling you when to check back on the status of your consignment, and the last date they will keep your items in the store. You can either pick up your check at any time, or they will mail it to you. Of course, I can't resist to also shop there. Yes, it is tiny, but that gives it more of a neighborhood feel. Their items are high quality, in good shape, and they have many designer brands as well as standard offerings. To me, the staff has always been friendly - always a hello when I enter the store and offering to take items and put them in a changing room if I am holding too much. Combining a visit here with getting some ice cream at Bluebird, cards at Metropolitan, and some amazing treats like hatch chili sauce at Ken's really makes me feel like I live in a lovely neighborhood! read more

I've always enjoyed popping into Labels when I'm back in Seattle (I live overseas but come back home here twice a year). I've found some great treasures over the years. Recently I had a little misunderstanding with my remaining gift card value that left me frustrated in the moment. BUT why I'm writing this review is due to the customer service I received afterward. Within a day of the misunderstanding, the Labels owners reached out with a solution. Nice selection of clothes for the workplace and a small selection of cute dresses. I wanted to love it, but I did not find the employees to be very friendly. They didn't talk and looked sideways at customers, and they did not ask if I needed help in the 20 minutes I browsed while they hung clothes and chatted. But, if you're just there for the clothes and not worried about the experience, it's an okay place to check. Plus there are some other cool shops to swing by on this street. read more

I have been living in Seattle for 10 months now due to my finance's cancer treatment. I decided it was time that I try to sell some of my gently used (and pricey) clothing. When I first went in to make an appointment they were nice enough, and I made an appointment with them. To my surprise, it would be a month out until I could get in for a 30 minute session, but I made the appointment anyways. When I came in a month later the lady told me it would take about 30 mins and they would let me know if they would take anything and explain why they didn't choose other pieces. Meanwhile, I shopped the store. I was happy when they let me know they were done about 20 minutes later. They just gave me the short answer with no explanation... so after feeling slightly embarrassed... I mustered up the courage to ask what was so wrong with all of them.. they just said "oh the condition of the items".. so i pulled out a pair of brand new standard Paige skinny jeans and she just goes "oh you know, just the color of them". Like what? Anyways, I'm more of a passive person so I didn't press her further, but I definitely felt inferior and judged. This was my first consignment experience and I was not impressed. It's not that I expected them to take a huge selection of what I had given them, but for me, giving away my cherished clothes that I had taken such care for and worked hard for, was emotional to even have to try and sell them in the first place. I always find the girls friendly and in good humor. If you don't like it once, why go back? Probably a result of too much time on the hands... Anyhow, I love seeing Labels crowded! I gets a bit steamy after a while, but it's SO good to see a locally owned business doing this well in this state of the economy. Refreshing. Last time I went in, I found the CUTEST Juicy Couture sweater for a super inexpensive price (given the label!). And it was a size large-perfect for me. When you know your designers, and realize how good of a deal you get there, it's worth the weekly trip. I've found my winter gem (and my own personal christmas present). Mellow vibe suits the neighbourhood. Nor cutting edgey high fashion but lots of solid staples and officey pieces. They are willing to consign stuff for the mature women that Buffalo Exchange and Crossroads gals roll their eyes at. Great if you have a revolving closet like mine. Lots of good mom styles... (Hey Moms need nice stuff too!) and their old timey system of cutting a checks once a month works just fine. I was told it would take a moNth to get an appointment to consign clothes here. After making an appointment and waiting a month long, they took an hour to go through four medium sized bags of clothing of various styles in great condition, only to choose nothing...not one single item. I was told it would take 30-45 minutes and that they would call me when they were done, so that I could hang out at a local coffee shop while they looked.....after an hour I called them to find out they had been done and simply didn't call me. As both a consignor and shopper I love Labels! I've been a consignor for over a year and have found them to be much more organized that other shops. I like that they provide you with a detailed list of the items they accepted and their price. Yes, they are selective but since most of my items sell I realize they know what to look for! I typically book an appointment 2-3 weeks out which works well with my schedule. As a shopper, I've found some great pieces at prices I know a fraction of the retail cost. When rescheduling appointments or shopping I've always found the staff to be friendly and helpful. read more

If you want to consign, don't waste your time. I am a frequent consigner and I was looking for a new shop more convenient to my home, so I decided to try Labels. Despite a ridiculously inefficient process and complete lack of transparency, I decided to go ahead with my first consignment experience. I had to go to their shop twice that day - once for my so-called 'appointment' and then later that day to pick up the list of items they took (not priced). It turns out that they took all my items, and 6 weeks later, I received a check for nearly $700. All well and good, but they were unable (unwilling?) to tell me what my items had sold for. I was just supposed to take it on faith that this was the amount that was due to me. I've never had a consignment experience like that before. So stupid me - I decide to use them again for convenience reasons, hoping that they would have worked out some of their procedure snags at the very least. WRONG. I made an appointment with them weeks in advance and showed up at my scheduled time and they told me that 1) they didn't have me in their appointments (which btw looked like an organization mess on a tiny flip desk calendar) and 2) that I could leave my stuff and come back later today to pick up the items they would not take. Given my poor experience and history with this shop, I opted to take my business elsewhere. I have never been to a consignment shop before where you make an appointment and they are unwilling to at least go through your items and tell you what they will take on the spot. Most stores do that, and then will send you a pricelist, or offer you the opportunity to pick up a pricelist at a later date. Also, the fact that they are unable/unwilling to tell you what your items sold for is completely shifty. If you want to take the trusting view and assume they are acting honestly, you still have to wonder how they could even imagine to account for things correctly and keep track of 50+ consigners items at a time. I don't know what took me so long to write this review... half of my closet is from Labels. They are great. Hit and Miss, yes, but that goes with the consignment-shop territory. Going home empty-handed sometimes is part of the thrill; it awakens our primitive hunter-gatherer instincts. Next time, you tell yourself, I WILL find an awesome pair of work pants. And I will feed them to my family for dinner. They use every inch of their small space well. The shop is full, but organized. The prices are way above goodwill, but way below the stores that their merchandise is from. They are picky about what they take, so everything looks almost-new to new. Don't miss the racks of shoes, the purse corner, the scarves and shawls, and the plentiful jewelry. Oh, and definitely don't forget to look up. They match and hang whole outfits along their walls, and if you are fashionably disinclined like me, I recommend covertly studying the displays. I've gone from college student, to graduate student, and now to intern, and Labels has supplied me with the right clothes throughout all of it. When I obtain the glorious title of "professional," I plan on coming here with my first glorious paycheck. read more

inventory frequentlly changes probably due to constant foot traffic and resource conscious people in the area. during recent visit, I decided to marinate on buying an EB light jacket. while weighing decision, I went back only to find that the jacket had made a quick exit. I've learned to avoid waiting too long. for example, today, I bought a skirt that had arrived the same morning! completely unaware of "fresh" status until checking out. to lessen risk of items vanishing, staff seems to be ok about holding an item for a couple of hours. regarding Consigning process: it's fairly simple/efficient, without anything too frivolous. overall, goods have been thoughtfully selected; over the years, I've encountered a variety of surprise finds. read more

A fun, funky consignment shop with fresh clothing items in good condition, and a good collection of shoes. As the name suggests, many items are from nice labels at much less expensive prices than you will find on the Nordstrom's rack. The style tends to be upbeat dress casual, with some evening wear and sportswear, ideal for professional women. Items can be consigned by appointment and sellers get 50% of the marked price, which is pretty generous for a consignment store. It's also near several other nice clothing boutiques--Wish, the Pretty Parlor, etc... so it's very convenient when you're looking for some great finds at low prices. read more

I always find something at this overstuffed shop. Pants, sweaters, jackets, shoes and boots, jewelry, evening wear. You name it, they have a bit of everything and very good prices. I live in the neighborhood and was really excited to have such a seemingly cool shop so close. The merchandise is really great - fairly priced, good quality, etc. However, the staff is awful. I've gone in 2 times and same experience both times. Last time it was just me and one other shopper in the store and none of the three staff people working greeted me or offered a dressing room. Unfriendly, rude staff means I won't shop here anymore. Too bad because their stuff isn't too bad. I'm tempted to pull a pretty woman :-) read more

I have been to this store twice and will never go back! First encounter, walked into see what the store was about. Loved the concept and selection. There were two younger ladies working that we're too busy trying on clothes to assist me. Neither approached me or asked if I needed assistance. I walked around the store carrying multiple clothing items while I continued to look - it would have nice if they afford to take the clothes and place them in the dressing room- or at least ask if I was ready to try on, but again nothing- too busy trying on clothes from the store and making their weekend plans. I did end up buying some dresses. While checking out I asked the process of selling clothes - I was told to simple bring my clothes in during business hours and they will decide what they will purchase. Second encounter, I recently went through my closet and cleaned out two large bags of clothes- BCBG dresses, Calvin Kline jackets (1 still has tag on for $100), Ann Taylor dresses and Pendleton skirts- all items purchased last year for a combined total of well over a thousand. I walked into the store and this is how the conversation went: "Hi I'm here to sell some of my clothes" " appointments only" " oh I'm sorry last time I was here I was told to show up during business hours that no appointment was needed" " you must be thinking of a different store. You need to take your stuff to buffalo exchange, they don't require appointments" I turned and walked out and will never go back. It would have been so much more appropriate to simple say- " let me help yo make an appointment. Horribly rude staff, overly crowded store, small dressing rooms, and overly priced second hand clothes. No thanks-far too many second hand stores to deal with this place- will take their advice and continue to sell my clothes at buffalo exchange where I'm treated with respect, they always purchase majority of my clothes for excellent price!! read more

I have been trading/consigning my clothing here for 3 years, I entered the new location and when I asked the woman (whom I've never seen before) behind the counter if they were taking clothing today she hastily and rudely replied "Uhm, by appointment only and we are totally booked out" I said (without tone or accusation) "oh really? I've never made an appointment, has it changed since the move?" To which she again replied like I was some crazy liar "it's been by appointment for the last 28 years...maybe the other girl knew you but I don't" Here's the thing...I have no problem if things change nor was I trying to convince her to change things, I'm very disappointed that she felt she needed to be rude, frankly I was ready to spend $ even if my items were not taken or looked at today but after her sassy tude my money and brand name items will just continue to flow thru buffalo exchange...boo to you mean labels lady! read more

I want to love this place, I've been stuffing this review for a long time and I can't hold it in anymore! . After years of shopping and consigning here it is functionally fine. They have decent stuff, tho I do see Old Navy, Forever 21, etc, so not exclusively "Labels". They kicker is the staff, they are snooty as can be! This is not Rodeo Drive ladies, lighten up! I get the tense annoying vibe when people walk in. The staff do gossip incessantly and give an eye roll or sigh when being bothered to ring someone up. They could benefit from a little customer service 101, I don't want to be hounded but a hi and smile is a good thing. Today as I was checking out I used a credit I had from consigning, the lady was like "Can you tell me you're using a credit before I ring you up?". Ha! Seriously?! How bout you ask me if you need to know, how would I know that? Just par for the course. But if you're looking to consign some things, if they are nice and stylish they will move here. And I rarely leave without something, so again functionally it's fine if you don't mind being snooted at. read more

I stopped by Labels after hearing about them from a friend. I was looking for an alternative to the Buffalo/Crossroads/Red Light route. Me being spacey- I didn't realize that they only took clothes on an appointment basis. Me being LUCKY- they happened to have a no-show, right when I came in. The girls working were awesome and didn't make me feel like a complete ass for just showing up. They pay well for both vintage pieces that are stylish and in good shape as well as newer, trendier pieces- which I haven't experienced elsewhere. I ended up browsing while they went through my pile and left with a great pencil skirt for $12. Overall I was very impressed and pleased with my experience. read more

The sales assistants are snobby. Some of the clothes had the labels cut off so you can't even check the size. The kids stuff doesn't fare much better. One sales assistant keeps blantantly checking shoppers to see if the are shoplifting. Oh. My. God. I was SOOO happy to find this place today!!! Being a used clothes store, I was expecting old clothes smell, a big mess, and piles of junk to go through if I hoped to find a gem. Not the case! The place smelled and looked like a new clothes store - clean, organized, pretty, very appealing to the eye. Wherever I looked, I saw cute things distracting me - outfits, hats, scarves, jewelry, shoes... I didn't know where to look first! Items were organized by size, and then color (very easy to find anything). Everything was in excellent condition; not only that, there was no junk to browse... nearly everything was a great buy! (Not everything was "me", obviously, but it will make someone happy, soon.) Most items were name brands - Banana Republic, Chico, Ann Taylor... of course lots of GAP and Old Navy. The prices were ridiculously cheap... I mean, seriously. I even found a pretty letter jacket for $18... A-line wool skirt from Ann Taylor for $14... and those were the pricier items! (More than that, all I recall is a full trench coat from DKNY for $45, and a letter jacket for $35. Wooo, expensive...) They had designer handbags for nothing: a Dooney Bourke for $18, for instance (there was a badly worn small patch in the back, but still). Oh, and the jewelry! Tons of it! All very beautiful! I can't reccomend this place enough... and I certainly plan on going back often, as (I would imagine) the items come and go fast. read more

This shop has it all-- wonderful and varied inventory, experienced, friendly and efficient staff and a cheerful space that makes consigning and buying a pleasure. There are a number of good women's consignment stores in Seattle, but in my view, Labels rates up there among the very best, if not the best in town. read more

I have been a long time customer of Labels, shopping, buying and selling clothes on consignment. I went to shop there like usual, looked around, tried a few things on, didn't find anything and left. The next day I get a call with one of the employees yelling on my voice mail saying I wasn't allowed back unless I returned a sweater I stole! I was in SHOCK!! How DARE they accuse me blindly of stealing! I have never stolen in my life!!! I have been a long time customer as well and they knew me!! If they thought I took something they should have confronted me in the moment, not wait until the next day and then passively left a voice mail yelling and accusing me of taking something. I tried calling to communicate about it and they wouldn't answer my call. So I went in there and they were accusing me of stealing in front of their customers by saying I came out of a dressing room that had empty hangers. ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? How many times have people gone into a dressing room and there have been empty hangers in them to begin with. I looked around and pointed to all the things I tried on and told them to check their inventory because I have never stolen in my life and never would! I am a spiritual person who believes in Karma. Finally they believed me after having to defend myself for 15 minutes. Then they pulled me outside so their customers wouldn't hear them admit they were in the wrong. They apologized and said they were in the wrong and they were sorry they accused me and they hoped we could move on. If they have to go around blindly accusing people of stealing when they have no evidence, and it is based on assumption then they need to put security things into place such as cleaning out the dressing room after each person goes in. Clearing out the hangers and clothes from the dressing rooms. They need to give people numbers for the amount of items they bring in and have them count the items when they come back out. They need to install cameras so they actually have evidence if they are going to accuse someone of stealing. They need to check bags behind the counters. None of this was in place. You don't just accuse people of stealing by guessing, you set security things into place. The day they accused me of stealing, I WAS HUMILIATED!!! It really shook me up to be accused of stealing when I hadn't done anything wrong. They shouldn't be allowed to just go around blindly accusing people of stealing with no proof or evidence! For one it is against the law! It is slander! I will NEVER STEP FOOT IN THERE AGAIN!!! And I have been telling everyone I know not to go there. They lost a customer and will probably lose more by everyone I am telling. read more
